Ohoopee River Rattlesnake
waltham_41 replied to Azrial's topic in General Discussion - Any topic is welcome here!!!
Its been my experience that the rattlesnakes dont want to confront you any more than you want them.... make lots of movement in the brush so they can sense your coming and they will usually leave. Cotton mouths (water moccasins) and copperheads on the other hand, are more aggresive snakes and will come after you. I had a moccasin chase me off of a creek bank after I started casting my lure out near it trying to get it to go away. Again, these are just my experiences. -

I have personally seen a dead rattler here in NE Okla years ago that was a 6 footer..... One was reported to be seen crossing a road near here a few years back and it was said that the head was crossing the shoulder line of the road as its tail was crossing the center line. I would not doubt the story as in that area there is not a lot of human encroachment yet. Rattlers and cotton mouth snakes can and do get pretty big. -
If I lock the bolt back on my shotty and just bump the stock against the floor, the bolt will go forward, loading a shell while I am still grabbing the weapon by the barrel picking it up. Far too dangerous for me. I keep a round in the chamber, and the second shot is a Silver Bear #7 1/2 steel cased bird shot. Will not deform no matter how long the shotty sits. Third shot and after is buck. I use a autoplug so I dont have to worry about what gas setting I am on. Its the best setup I have found personally.

Depends on how you look at it.... he is not the only case of this happening. Their sense of duty and commitment to their emperor was way beyond what our race can comprehend. And as far as their weapons being junk, I have a Type 99 rifle that I have put 7 bullets in a raged hole the size of a nickel at my backyard range (30 yds)using cast lead bullet reloads. And I am the first to admitt that I am a lousy shot. And their Type 38 rifle was touted as being the strongest bolt action ever made for a military rifle. I have one of them and am waiting for a couple of small parts so I can

Anyone deal w/Classic Arms in NC
waltham_41 replied to speed455's topic in General Discussion - Any topic is welcome here!!!
Bought a Century arms Polish Tantal... it ended up being one of the ones that keyholed. I called Classic Arms and they swapped out the rifle no problems. -
My 12 rd drum locked in right out of the box, has a little sideways play but nothing I cant live with for the price. Have dumped a couple of drums out of it and it has worked fine. How long it will work fine only time will tell The rds do rattle in the drum though.

I think these type of auctions the products are provided by the owners of the site..... notice there are no mention of sellers, just bidders. To me they are on the same level as raffle ticket sellers, just with a lot more bling and hype. It would be great to list a MN91/30 and make $600 profit on the bids.

I had a century Galil that I traded off solely because I made a profit on it..... the only issue I had with it was it didnt like to hand cycle ammo, would misfeed and ruin the cases. But if you just racked a round in and started firing, it shot like a champ.

Full auto shootout...

Ah, the good old days... I can barely remember back to when uncle same paid me to shoot that stuff (including the tank). Good times, good times......... -
Seems to me that you could adjust the autoplug using the 3 inch shells as your base shell and it would vent enough that it would not batter the weapon. Of course it would then be a single shot gun with the lesser rounds (bulk, birdshot etc), but if 3 inch is what you usually shoot that would be a moot point. I really like my autoplug, and if I have to put a drop of blue loctite on the threads to keep the adjustment from moving, that is a very small inconvenience.

I quit using 3" shells personally.... I think it will extend the life of the gun, and God knows what the future will be as far as replacement parts and such for the Saiga shottys
-
Since I put my autoplug in my shotty, I no longer worry about settings for what ammo is in the gun before I shoot, I just grab the shotgun and blast away. A great idea IMO

Thought this was interesting...

If you search around on the net, you may be able to find some steel cased Silver Bear 7 1/2 birdshot.. Anyone that has the steel cased buckshot that hasnt been sold for years now is sitting on it and wont share -
Just a blonde pubic hair over 3/4"

Mine worked fine right out of the package, have shot Federal bulk birdshot up to #00 buck with no problems. As someone who has forgot to change the factory plug more than one time, this is a good product.

When shipping gun parts....

A while back I received a package that UPS had managed to drop hard enough that a spam can of 440 rds of 7.62x54R ammo went through the side of the box.... they then taped it back up (I always wonder where that ammo ended up at) and dropped it off at my house. Luckily I had paid for private insurance with the shipper and they sent me another spam can. And I wont try to count the number of guns I have ordered and UPS manages to stick something through the box and gouge the wood stock. -
Just got mine, the MD20 is a great drum but just too bulky for normal use. The Promag 12 shoots great, fit in the shotty with no mods. Its a little loose from side to side, but as long as it works Im not gonna bitch. Only 2 real bitches... with 12 rds in you cannot pull the charging handle to load the shotgun (11 works fine), on my weapon at least, and the rounds rattle quite a bit in the drum. But the drum works great, no stoppages or jams so I am happy to keep it loaded on the shotty as my bump in the night mag.

Bout damn time!...... So, other than the small problem that the gun is now a smoking, molten ruin, the fact that you finally got that little bastard out makes this a success story, right? I really hate loctite.

And get some better ammo than the Winchester to base your shotty's performance on, too many people have reported trouble shooting it.

Who has a C&R license?
waltham_41 replied to MrOneEyedBoh's topic in General Discussion - Any topic is welcome here!!!
I think some people have been taking copies of FFL licenses and photoshopping them with false names and addresses. It probably isnt a common thing, but you know how it is, there is always someone out there trying to figure out how to screw someone over. -
I used to wonder why they didnt make kelvar cloth headgear similar to the flash hoods wore by guncrews in large naval gun turrets. I then thought about the fact that while the bullet may not penetrate, your skull would be crushed in, and that would probably be lethal by itself. IMO the human body is amazing in the fact that it can absorb so much damage and live, while at the same time being so frail as to what can kill us.

I have read enought about the autoplug that I like, that I am getting one when my income tax comes in this month. No more shooting 3 inch magnum shells for me anyway, so it should work out nicely.
