  1. Here is the data on the rifle. http://www.raacfirearms.com/Los_7-1.htm They have several models including a 7.62x 39. I have been dreaming of the RAA Biathlon 7-4 myself. It is a real Biathlon rifle designed for competition in .22 LR. I wonder if I would get arrested doing cross country skiing with one of these strapped to my back? Hmmmmm...
  2. +1 FBMG all the way. Surefires are nothing but a stoppage waiting to happen.
  3. Standard AR 15 mag pouches for 3 magazines work too, just remove the internal compartment separators. Each holds 2 FBMG mags with ease. I got mine at Cheaper then Dirt for much less.
  4. The Black Dog magazines are now also available for the Olympic Arms drop in conversion. A shooting buddy got one of the Olympic drop-ins ( ~ $124)and it seems to work petty good for him. The 25 round mag is a nice feature.
  5. I picked up a Taurus too, lol. The trigger on it is lighter then I like but otherwise it shoots well.
  6. Last time I talked to Ultimak their gas tube mounts did NOT fit the Saiga 308 due to barrel thickness. This was a couple of months ago so call to make sure before you order. I have on of their mounts on a AMD-65 I had built out and they are nice.
  7. And I will take all that ammo off your dead body after my .308 shows you the difference between .22 ballistics and .30 ballistics. Get real, the .223 is at best a coyote round. There is a reason why it takes 3 or more hits before a BG hit by .223 stops, it just lacks the power to do teh job it is supposed to. Also remember in a SHTF situation the BG will be pumped full adrenaline (and possibly the recreational drug of their choice) and your fine motor skills will be shot to drek by the same adrenaline rush. Which would you rather have get a periphery hit with, a bloody .22 or a .308? The .30
  8. Anyone have one of these or had a chance to shoot it? I have been interested in it as .223 is so freaking expensive. Would like to hear if it is a decent product or not. I am not sure I want a Ceiner kit as it uses the rifles own barrel, the OlyAmrs has a 1:16 full bore insert in the barrel to work better with .22. Again, if anyone hs seen or used one, let me know.
  9. Yeah, the genius is such a typical gun rag whore. Much of his info is marginal. His buddy who is in the sandbox right now is also highly biased toward ARs. Nice article on a PKM in that rag though. I picked it up to read up on the Massada.
  10. Looks good XjediX. Now get rid of that cheesy plastic bipod and put a Versa Pod or a Harris Bipod on that rail and it will look real mean. The only reason I have a small rail on the front of my Saiga is so I can mount my Versa-Pod.
  11. Thnaks lollygagger, will try it out. I got in touch with surefire and they are willing to exchange the mags but I am not sure that would be a fix. I will test your fix and see if it helps first.
  12. Well, if you are in WA and close to me I can help you with it. No need to give me your rifle, wil be happy to help another Saiga owner. All you have to do is furnish the parts. The build itself is pretty easy. If you live in the Puget Sound area I can help. Ive pulled it off. Though i wouldnt mind knowledge on finding a decent range. im in Lynnwood. only nearby non members only range is Kenmore ... they only allow me to load one bullet at a time and allow 100 meter shooting. I know theres a gun range in Poulsbo out to 200 meters for nonmembers ..but that means taking the ferry

  14. I strongly disagree. My wife loves her hi-cap, double stack, all steel, full sized CZ-85 Combat and that is the gun she learned on. Her pick not mine. As I said in rule 1) LET HER PICK HER OWN GUN!!!!! Also do not underestimate her ability. Again, your mileage may vary.
  15. CZ-85 has all ambi controls, so does the HK P2000 series. Several other guns have ambi magazine releases and safeties. I would stay away from the Charter Arms revolver, some people I know had bad juju from it. The other thing is for her to do is to learn a lefty way of doing things on a righty gun, a completely different manual of arms. All she really has to do is learn how to lock the slide back. My wife does this by gripping the slide with her right hand and as she pulls it back using her right thumb to push up on the slide lock. Looks clumsy but it works like a charm. Most lefties rele
  16. K-VAR has some US furniture and fire control groups. Otherwise I think it is TAPCO or make it yourself. Yeah the CAA and UTG stuff looks cool, butis only legal on an AR I think. Well, if you replaced your gas piston you could get something from UTG or CAA. I have KVAR stock, TAPCO G2 Trigger, TAPCO SAW grip and FBMG magazines for compliance.
  17. The build is a bit easier. No need to cut opening for the trigger group or pistol grip screw, you will find them under the plate attacehd to the bottom of the receiver. Also no need to drill out the hammer and trigger pins, let them be and their location is correct already. I used the same parts as you, Kvar stock, TAPCO Saw grip and G2 Trigger . Yeah, the G2 trigger needs a bigger hole in the disconnecter, can be drilled out if you are careful. You may also have to grind some metal off the G2 Hammer in a few spots to allow it to swing cleanly in a Saiga 308. Make sure you check funct
  18. Correct. Sorry if I confused you, was trying to prevent a possible mistake and expense. I got my 8X POSP at Kalinka too but it was for my PSL.
  19. And...I thought all Saiga AK firearms used a "universal" AK mounting rail...some have SVD mounting rails??? Yes, I know that the POSP can be had in a SVD mount -but that is not right for a Saiga, huh? I just checked: My 6X POSP (with the AK mount) has a 42mm front objective that clears the "combat" setting (elevator fully to the rear) on the rear iron sight by well over 1/4" (enough). Is the meassage here to not use a SVD mount on a AK rail? Yeah, I am trying to warn him to buy the proper mount on the scope, namely the AK mount. I have a SVD scope mounts on my two scopes
  20. Sure. ANY POSP scope will clear the rear sight...not a issue. Lollygagger, this is incorrect. I have empirical evidence the 42mm 8X POSP scope will not fit if it has a SVD type mount. My won't fit, it can not clear the rear sight (not just the sight but the rear sight mounting too). It is impossible for me to mount this scope on my Saiga 308 unless I machine off a part of the rifle. If elvis chirst has an AK type mount it will probably fit, but not with the SVD type mount. I will try to take some of the problem if I get the chance to post to prove my point.
  21. Vultite, your problems just escalated as lefties are harder to fit with a weapon. My wife shoots lefty too. Pick up a copy of this months SWAT magazine if you can, next months too, as they have a series on left handed weapon manipulation that just started. This month handguns, next month I believe is long arms. It might give some insight as to how things can be done by a lefty. Luckily the weapon manufacturers have caught on to the 15 odd % that are south paws and ambi controls are now becoming more common. You need to consider lefty controls for her. THis can be worked around but having t
  22. It depends on objective size. All the 8X scopes have a larger objective. The 4X scopes have a 24mm objective and the 8X scopes have a 42 mm objective. The objective size divided by the magnification determines the size of the exit pupil and how clearly you can see. At larger magnifications you want a larger objective. Larger objectives require larger bell sizes and this is what interferes with mounting the scope in my case. As far as the letters go, my scopes are a 4X LPS (Romanian designation, same as POSP) and a 8x POSP (Russian designation). The POSL designation before was a typo, hit L
  23. I think most medium frame S&W holster would fit it. If you are willing to work with a longer one, get a 4" holster as they should be available and should fit. Uncle Mikes may have what you need at a budget price.
  24. You are quite welcome. Have fun with your new gun.
  25. what didn't you like about the TROY BUIS? Well, when I switch rear sight aperture to the smaller diameter long range one, they will not fold down flat. The button for raising and folding the TROY is hard to operate, takes too much pressure to deactivate the detent. I also prefer the click A2 style windage knob on the Yankee Hill rear as I am used to it. The TROY seem to be made of alloy too (at least the base is), Yankee Hill are all steel so more rugged. I guess I am stuck with the TROY though as they are marked M&P by S&W for their gun, no one will want them with the adve
