HobbyMachinist 6
This is my first post. I've been lurking here for a few months, and this forum has really helped me with my s12 conversion. As my way of saying thanks, here are some pics of the finished work. Thanks guys, I don't think I could have done it without this site.

HobbyMachinist 6
Thanks guys. Yes it was a lot of work, and patience too! I waited forever for the magwell and hanguard. I got into building various ak's about a year ago, so this was a natural sideproject for me. I'm happy with the result as a whole, but I don't think the forward pistol grip is going to last long. It's got too much wobble in it. Maybe I'll go with a fixed one with a quick detach...
DyLonX5 3
Very nice. I love the white lettering, did you do that yourself?
HobbyMachinist 6
Yeah, I use a syringe and white molyresin. After several apply - dry cycles when the letters look full, I wipe the area lightly and quickly with a shop towel damp with acetone. I repeat this process untill I'm happy with the result, then bake and enjoy

shades_of_grey 1,092
Fantastic restoration!!!! Absolutely beautiful!! Heh, you even used white to highlight the lettering on the Polychoke! Now that's attention to detail! If you're considering replacing that fvg, I suggest a Tango Down w/ quick detach mount. They're rock-solid and extremely comfortable to use.

I never considered it before because I had only seen the short one Krebs sells. The longer ones look good thanks for the heads up.

Zambidis 90
I'm happy with the result as a whole, but I don't think the forward pistol grip is going to last long The fore grip was the only part I didn't thin looked good. I personally am a fan of the stubby VFGs. It does look very good though, the work and attention to detail .

Heh, you have no idea what a perfectionist I am when it comes to firearms. It's a source of slight frustration with my S-12, (a fairly sloppy gun when you really examine it, as most Russian guns seem to be). Ivan just doesn't seem to care that much when he's assembling these. But of course, since the design works so well, we have to forgive slight manufacturing errors which are mostly cosmetic... I'll keep telling myself that till I believe it. I'm satisfied with the way my S-12 turned out, (since I only have common hand and power-tools to work with). I do envy you the skills and equipment you've used to truly refine the gun, though. ...I just checked out the tango down. I never considered it before because I had only seen the short one Krebs sells. The longer ones look good thanks for the heads up. You're welcome, man. The TD grip is my favorite fvg. They're exceptionally solid, (which is reflected in the price). Edited November 5, 2009 by post-apocalyptic
