shaneman153a 39
Well really, that's all I have to say. I don't know when all of the gun rags that say "tactical" on them went up to 8.99, but i just noticed a few months ago. My new rule is no rags for more than $6. If everyone did this, these fags would stop charging that much. It's a tragedy, as gun writers are some of the most piss-poor journalists in the world. Ooooh they piss me off!!!! Bean.223 365
Magazines in general have become ridiculous in price the last 5 years.
3ac6ucb 24
Those things are 80% advertising anyway. If I wanted to pay for a bunch of ads, I'd subscribe to Shotgun News. edit to add this: And if I wanted to hear what some decent gunwriters had to say, I'd listen to their podcasts. Matthew Hopkins 1,065
It's a tragedy, as gun writers are some of the most piss-poor journalists in the world. Ooooh they piss me off the people that do the writes up are not journalists, they are nothing but hacks who get paid to write up a glory piece on the products that are advertised in those rags. if RAVEN spent a ton of money on advertising in that rag, you can bet your bottom dollar that a "review" of their firearm would have a favorable write up with no negative comment. have you ever read a article on a product that had a negative thing to say about it in a gun rag? you get a much more honest review from ordinary folks on gun disscusion boards on products with no bias, then from a gun rag Edited January 25, 2010 by Matthew Hopkins
Klassy Kalashnikov 1,393
Exactly. Maybe like 3 years ago I bought an issue of Guns and Ammo and it was total shit. Full of biased reviews of guns made by the advertisers. "Yeah well, it's a great shooter - 12" groups all the way out to 7 yards, and I just love me a 32lb. trigger on a $850 gun. Hot dang - this thing is built to last, no doubt you could put a thousand rounds through it in its lifetime" or that stupid Texas lawman bullshit where the guy pulls stories out of his ass. If I wanted to hear someone one-up stories all night I'd just go listen to a couple of the derelicts down at the local dive bar for a whole lot less than that magazine costs. Never again will I waste my money on that shit This reminds of another thread....Oh my god, don't get me started on the NRA's advertisements again!!! elvis christ 451
Something fucked up I saw the other day, and it really made me stop and think. Its definitely a sign of the times. I picked up a Shotgun News, and looked at the price: $5.99 US/Canada (I think it was $5.99, but that's not the point, here). What the fuck? How fucked up are we when literature (I use the term loosely) is selling for the same price USD and CND? As long as I can remember, the price on the back of the book has been significantly more for Canadian purchases.
shaneman153a 39
Magazines in general have become ridiculous in price the last 5 years. I guess until recently, I've jsut been grabbing the mags and throwing them in the shopping cart with all the other groceries. I was pleased that the predator mag (can't remember the name) and field and stream were still 3.99. The field and stream had a huge blown up coyote on the front, and I think the article said "take 100 coyotes this year". The article was about some barren wasteland in Utah 250 miles from anything, and how to use $850 worth of hunting gear to call in one coyote.
Paulyski 2,227
Aren't "Gun-Rags" what "T-Shirts" become once the collars get sloppy? Who buys this shit? Never mind.... I forget, there's a sucker borne every minuet.
22_Shooter 1,560
I gave up on magazines in general. The only time I'll pick one up, is if I'm going on a plane or something. Otherwise, I can find all the info I need online for free.

Mullet Man 2,114
Aww come on, don't you want to join their wine club or buy some life insurance? They can not be as bad as Sportsmans Guide! Yesterday, i received a packet in the mail from them, ALL it was, was adverts for mattress', gun clubs, viagra, furniture etc. etc., just a bunch of random crap, all cut out neatly into little cards for each advertisement! There was atleast 50 cards in it What a bunch of bullshit that was! On topic, i usually buy a rag for a road trip or when sitting in the hotel room, or just for throne reading material. unclejake 428
I have noticed when I watch my "shootin shows" on wed. night, that you can subscribe to Guns and Ammo for $10, and when you get a subscription notice in the mail, it's a BIT higher! Guess they are hurtin now with all thats on the internet and on the sat. channels now.
Jpanzer 1,265
They rape you if you buy them by the single issue. I think my 6 month Shotgun news suscription cost $18. Yeah it's got a lot of adds, but its a good way to gauge market value right now on guns and parts. Hell of a lot cheaper than buying single issues. The "Tactical" mags are way overpriced...probably can get porn mags cheaper than the $8 they want for that one...

Azrial 1,091
I quit buying gun mags years ago. If you have a big pile add them up, you may be surprised to learn that there is the price of a gun being wasted on paper.

YARP 300
I pretty much stick to Shotgun News, mainly to watch the prices in the gun/parts/ammo market jump around. They also put out some (not all) decent articles. Besides that, like everyone else says google, you'll find it.
