Rhodes1968 1,638
Well this is now trend since it is the third time by my count preppers have been targeted for no more than doing what is legal. Of course charge inflation is in full effect. What will they say when they come for you? This time it looks like the Febes struck out. This is north FL and KA after all. Sim_Player 1,939
He sold "destructive devices" to an undercover agent. A big "no-no". He was probably bragging on an Internet forum, such as this, and caught their attention. Common sense would have kept him out of trouble. XD45 7,124
We have no way to know what is and isn't true. Unfortunately the government is made up of proven liars at all levels. Did he make destructive devices? Did he threaten to burn his house and shoot responders? We will never know. I am not a tinfoil nut that believes every shooting is a false flag operation but no rational person can ignore the mounting evidence that our government lies and targets innocent people for their political beliefs. But boys and girls, do keep this in mind: If you say something stupid in public, be ready to hear that read back at your trial. Or maybe you won't hear anything at all if they shoot you for "resisting". And think hard before joining any militias or prepper organizations. Any organization made up of more than 3 people is going to have a mole. Edited June 21, 2014 by Darth Saigus

Any organization made up of more than 3 people is going to have a mole. Well said. There are bad people out there no doubt. But more so than not, they (big brother), plot to demonize gun owners, patriots, vets and anyone else who believes in liberty and self reliance. And openly admit it. How can those on our side of the coin believe them, let alone have faith in them? To do so is flat out stupidity. He sold "destructive devices" to an undercover agent. A big "no-no". They can create the trouble just as easily as lie about it to create a cause.

csspecs 1,987
Chargers are based on the confidential informants statements, and evidence.. Which all seem to be in error. Should be interesting to see how they get that to work.
Jpanzer 1,265
How often are these "confidential informants" no more than cons themselves cutting deals to turn rat in exchange for dropped or reduced charges? How often are their claims proven to be little more than bullshit? 90% of the time? Of course the Fed will stall, fabricate evidence, and trump up charges against this man to keep from looking like what they are - a bunch of fucking idiots....

The idiot jurors who set OJ free didn't seem to have any problem understanding the concept. Although probably they couldn't tell you what nullification means. Five syllables is at least two too many for anybody who thinks OJ didn't do it, or who think it's OK because "black rage". Edited June 21, 2014 by Darth Saigus

sccritterkiller 473
Thank goodness for Jury Nullification. In Federal court I doubt the judge would even inform the jury of that option. Even if it was attempted in Federal court the judge would have the jurors removed "for cause" or even worse charged with jury tampering or contemp. No way the Federal Goverment would allow Pandora's box to be opened in todays world. Its a nice think that option is still available but realistically it would never happen. If they cant charge him with anything substantial the Government will simple delay as long as they can. By then he will be so wore down and broke he will want it over and want to get on with his life...whats left of it. He will cut a deal for lessor charges and probably do 2 years in a minimum security. Righteous is no match for the resources the Federal government will bring to bear. They have designed it that way...once they decide to move on somebody they are fucked...weather they are guilty or not. Edited June 22, 2014 by sccritterkiller
yakdung 2,926
I have been a jury foreman on several cases over the years (state - not federal), people would absolutely be shocked how easy it is to sway a jury.
VR762Shooter 838
The fact a "prepper" would sell a destructive device to someone seems odd to me. Isn't the whole point of being a prepper to protect yourself and your family, isn't selling some random person kind of counter productive to ensuring your safety in a SHTF situation? Seems fishy all these charges, all the statements of the investigation and then they find nothing. This will be one of those news stories that shows up big at the start and as the Fed case fizzles out nothing further will be released
liberty -r- death 1,445
It's all a load of crap. The fed does not want us to be prepared to care for ourselves. termite 463
But even the Fema website tells everyone to make "preparations" for an emergency, and to have food and water on hand, but for ONLY 3 days. So the guy had a "little" more than he was told to have, what the hell is wrong with that? The Gov IS NOT going to help you. They want everyone to be dependent on the Gov for everything you need, that way, they can tell you how high to jump, when to jump and where to jump, if NOT, you don't get to suck the Gov tit. The CI could just have been trying to cut a deal to save his own ass and lied like hell on this guy, who knows, the Feds won't tell anyone the truth, they have to cover their own asses. But it seems like more and more, you are GUILTY until you PROVE yourself innocent, which now a days, is becoming almost impossible to do against the Feds.
csspecs 1,987
Hard to say what counts as a destructive device these days. In CA dry ice in a coke bottle is a DD. Could have been non sporting shotgun shells in FL. FL has some goofy laws that one must be aware of to stay on the good side of the law. I'm sure this will get cleared up shortly.. Many times it turns out the guy is less than innocent, lots of gunshow booths sell flash powder, cannon fuse, and empty grenade bodies on the same table.. Not like he would be the first guy to put those parts together. If the guy was selling grenades, well that is not cool. PS in FL the cops like to start high.. Last week someone through a small paper plate of warm grits at their cousin and was charged with two counts of attempted murder.. By the time a judge looks at it those charges will be dropped, and something less stupid will be used. Even when Yankees cook grits they are hardly a deadly weapon. The destructive devices are likely four bags of winn dixie pork rinds that had slightly approached expiration. In which case he is clearly guilty of selling biological/chemical weapons capable of killing hundreds (Yes they are really that bad).

I used to load trucks at the Montgomery warehouse, and some of what I saw would quickly discourage you from ever shopping there again. DLT 1,646
The first thing that came to my mind when I read this was that the guy knew he was talking to an informant and just basically decided to B.S. the guy. The B.S. came back to bite him in the ass. The lesson learned is absolutely don't talk about shit that is illegal, even in joking. The feds probably didn't even give a shit about the AR's since they are legal to own and you can only use one at a time. But when he went off talking about bombs an shit, that's when they got interested. He basically invited trouble.
