Let's have fun piling on. I owned a brand new Ruger SS Mini 14. Could not hit the inside of the barn if I was inside shooting out. My USGI M1 Carbine shot TWICE as good and ran 100% of the time. My Ruger SS Mini 14 .223 went back and forth from the factory and back. They never did correct the problem. Short stroking.

 

I did write a letter to Bill Sr. or Bill Jr., (I forgot who) about the company forgetting about us Left Handed people. Was not Bill Sr. a South Paw? No answer. However, my current highly modified 10-22 works great ... after much $tuning$ be me. I sold all my Ruger company stock ... no wait ... never had any to begin with.

I bought it back in 1991 so I don't know if that is considered an old one or new. I had problems with it from day one. It would jam so bad you would have to take the whole thing apart to clear it. That and the fact that you can only run american ammo through it made me sell the thing a few years back. Accuracy was bad too.

My M-92 is more accurate than that POS Ruger ever was.

When it comes to 7.62 x 39 I stick with the tried and true indestructible AK-47. The worst AK is still better than the best Ruger.

Maybe I got a bad one but I'll never buy another to find out.

IIRC the older Mini-30 series had a .308 diameter barrel. If you shot .310 dia 7.62x39 out of it (i.e. any/all foreign production) it was basically eating the barrel alive.

As far as Ruger....

 

I have a GP100 .357 and a SR-22 pistol that I like very much, nice high quality guns. I'd like to get a 10-22 as well.

 

Ruger needs to be careful with supporting the anti's though, not good.

I have a P95 with rail and I like it, shoots great except for with freedommunitions, crap is so dirty I can't even make it to 50rds without having to clean the dam thing.  BVAC I made it probably 250rds before I thought to clean it.  Yes I know should clean them more often, if it can't run dirty then I dont want it.  Now if I was shooting a Moisin with surplus ammo that would get a bath every time from the range and when I looked at it.

 

I have however decided that the only ruger I would ever buy in the future is a 10/22.  I have not liked the pistols in years, heck I dont think I have ever looked at a rifle or shotgun from them ever.

 

Next pistol on the shopping list is a M&P 9C if my bro in law ever gets one so I can put the small grip on it and see if it fits the wife's hands.  If not then I'm stuck with getting her the Shield instead.

Ruger needs to make up their minds.  Bill Ruger (I spit on his grave) is gone, and the company is under different management.  They have made a strong move into the SUR market and many of us had started to forget ole Bill and his liberal ass-licking anti-freedom ways.

 

All we know at this point is that somebody else said Ruger was open to the idea.  If they move in that direction then fuck 'em for good.

Well gentlemen, Emailed CEO at Ruger this afternoon, Mike Fifer. Must have caught his attention. Received a reply about 20 mins ago. Said group asking for their cooperation showed up at corporate headquarters, "Warm Reception" was how all persons are received by reception desk and security staff.. Letter asking for and announcing this groups proposal was accepted. a CBS TV film crew had tagged along, figuring there might be a confrontation since a previous request had become confrontational when officers of the company refused to meet with them, and persons had to be escorted off property, ALL request from these types of groups have been denied. This technology at times has been tested by most companies due to chances certain states (California) might require it, including for Law Enforcement. Fed agencies since 1st Bush has requested testing for use with Federal Agency issued weapons. Basically these people were there about 2 min due to Ruger officials previously non cooperation on this matter.

Yes Darth, after quick response. I got the idea Mr. Fifer believed it would be taken as usual propaganda, considering the source. Was quick, and more than detailed about reactions with this and other groups. A "Hello, how are you, may I help you." from the reception desk or security would be considered a "Warm Reception", besides being professional business practice.

I still have my Grandfather's 10/22 that he gave me when I was a teen. Picked up a 77/22 twenty something years ago too. Both have performed well, over the years. The Wife had got me a Charger pistol for Christmas a few years back (a gift certificate at a gun shop, actually). It's been ok. In the late 80s, I had a mini 14 for about a week. Couldn't get it to keep a decent group and it would typically fail to load the last round. Like I said, I had it for about a week.

Like many, thought, "WTH" and bit pissed when 1st read. Getting older, bit wiser?? Certain sources know which buttons to push. Especially since our rights are constantly under attack by the elite. Yet, most of time try to get to bottom of story, especially if the source could be agenda driven. Ex: 25 years ago realized had been indoctrinated and played by Gov to be a goon in the drug war "Confiscation" of property. Realized most property being seized had nothing to do with drugs, just everyday people who unknowingly did business or was related to a drug dealer. When I was just out of high school, a buddy and I went to see a rich girl (daddy owned a chain of fast food joints). She lived in a mansion with a big security gate, security lighting, the whole bit. We rolled up and I found that I could drop their security lights just by keying up my CB radio. It was a dead stock Radio Shack CB radio, nothing special.

 

Just flat turned off all of them.    

 

The family didn't believe it until I showed them. They were not pleased with the security light system.

 

Anything electronic can be jammed fairly easily, "smart guns" included.
