Go for the 4" bbl. Snake shot in anything other than a 12 gage is kinda a waste of time. We have found that you must get so close to the big rattle snake to shoot it that the snake is also close enough to strike you. Personal experience. Not enough shot. Too few pellets. No pattern density. Outside about 5 feet the pistol round bird shot is only going to piss something off. Again not enough shot. Too small of shot. The pattern density is way too small and feeble to do any good. With a 4" bbl you will also have some better longer ranger revolver accuracy? Just another thought.

The easy way might be buy some scrap heavy angle iron. Cut and bolt together a rough circular outline. Then heat and bend some HD steel strap strips to outline the circular form. The frame does not have to be exact. Only a good outline of what you want. Then buy more scrap 10 gage steel sheet metal. In long 3 inch strips better.
