  1. Not a chance. Some years back, a lady in Tampa rolled down her window and started getting a dollar from her purse for a corner bum. She didn't get it fast enough to suit him, the bum stabbed her in the arm with a dirty hypo. Afterward, the lady was quoted saying "I wish he would have shot me instead, then I would know if I was alive or dead." These corner bums are mostly a scourge. Anyone who gives money to one is propagating the problem.
  2. On the Federal level, Handgun Ammo that meets certain performance and material characteristics are considered to be Armor Piercing, and are restricted, as in no sales to the public. Also included are .308 Armor Piercing and 7.62 x 39mm steel core rounds. Certain states, such as CT, ban possession of all Armor Piercing rounds, HG and Rifle. FL bans possession of Armor Piercing HG, .308, and 7.62 x 39. Rifle Ammunition can be steel core, but not be classified as Armor Piercing. For example, ALL milsurp .50 BMG projectiles available on the market have steel cores. However, while the .50 B
  3. I know all about Range Idiots. When I go to the range, and I break out a .50 BMG rifle, if there is an idiot I will know who that is, inside of 5 minutes. I'm not talking about those who are merely curious, I'm talking DOLTS. "Can you hunt with that thing?" Me-"You could, but a hunting rifle would be better for hunting." Them- Puzzled look. Me- "Would you go to the grocery store in a drag racer?" "What did you get that for, are you going to take out a Tank?" Me- Flat look, then "Are you serious, this would barely scratch a Tank." "Is that one of those $1000 specials?" "What do those
  4. Just ordered 2. I've got 2, but my 1rst S-12 requires both adjustments, they are just too loose fitting in my 2nd S-12. Thanks Whiskey!
  5. You are the lucky one threaded barrel Saigas are very rear thing, most of them are not What year is your rifle? more info, flat or round trunnion? Lucky I was. March '09, flat trunnion, no step, dimples, front hand guard retainer notches, & Y Stamp.
  6. I must be missing something here. A few days ago I cut the front of my FSB off, the part that covers the barrel threads. I cut thru the metal with a dremel and spun it off with a small pipe wrench. All I need to do is true up the cut edge of the FSB and screw on a flash hider. No barrel threads? Just grab a die it will end up the same. Why would I want to trash a functional front sight?
  7. I'd have to disagree that "the sensible ones that were halfway in between are gone." Pictured is my 500 Honda Foreman. It is 2wd, which is fine for my uses, but these come in 4wd too. Can't stand the 3 wheelers, never liked them.
  8. 33545. Wesley Chapel. I R.O. at Manatee, but missed the last Saiga meet, had to work.
  9. For the next hallway discussion; You don't need... can be followed by any of our cherished rights. They are not needs, they are Rights. People around the world live their whole lives, day in day out, without our Freedoms. We don't run this country according to need. That is the goal of Communism. "From each according to his ability, to each according to his NEEDS." - Karl Marx. We also don't run this country according to personnel likes and dislikes. Especially those of Wal-Mart hacks. When they start saying, "Well this isn't the Wild West", you can be sure that they have
  10. I am the Powerhouse Supervisor at a fine old Brewery. We are not nationwide yet, but we have just surpassed Samuel Adams as the largest American owned Brewery, from the standpoint of barrels of beer produced. Our output been growing at more than 10% annually, for the last 10 years.
  11. The laws in Cali are bad enough, that if for some wild reason I had to move there, I would have to leave a good part of what is in my gunsafe, which is considerable, here in FL. And I do not own any NFA. Yet. I've also been licensed for CCW for over 15 years and can now carry legally in 35 states. That would go away, too. Florida CCW recipricocity Chapter 790 Florida Gun Law I like this best of all: No Duty to Retreat
  12. Who makes a press, dies, and shell holder? That looks like fantastic fun. And I wouldn't shoot up the original ammo if I bought that weapon. Maybe one can, if it was going into a car at Knob Creek. The Rock Crusher Press, once discontinued, but now again available, will handle the 20mm. The Corbin Mega Mite, which I use for the big stuff, will load 20mm, but an adapter must installed to accommodate the dies which have a 2" thread. CH4D carries the dies and shellholder, about $520. Projectiles and brass are available, but percussion primers for the 20mm Vulcan are scarce, as the
  13. Would be hard to find a place to shoot it. I have however, seriously considered the Anzio 20mm. Nick (pictured) assured me that they could build me a left hand model. I could load my own for about $6 a round, not including the brass. The primer pockets can be bushed down to accept the CCI35 primer. I can shoot it at the range I belong to, Manatee. In fact the video on the site shows Nick shooting a suppressed 20mm at that range. But it's just not a practical firearm. Hell of a conversation piece for someone with a really big coffee table, but not practical. MAG-FED-20MM-RIFLE
  14. In Florida, CCW records are kept confidential by law, not part of the public record, not available to the media.
  15. I just took my S-12 from K-Var out yesterday, it jammed 0 times...once I got my V-Plug adjusted right. I bought an MD-ARMS V- Plug and installed it, didn't bother with the original. I had to use gas sitting 5 for low brass and 3 for 3" Magnums.
  16. If my wife "demanded" to move to New York, I would promptly buy her a one way ticket!
  17. I haven't hit a gunshow in over 3 years. Waste of time and money. By the time you pay for gas, parking, and the entry, you have more than paid for the shipping on the weapon of your choice. Also, some companies like Midway charge as little as 3.50 or less, for shipping small parts. Besides, beef jerky just isn't that hard to come by.
  18. If the weapon was suspended in mid-air, it would result in the gas hitting the piston, causing the entire rifle to move rearward and not allowing it to cycle properly. The weapon has to be somewhat stable for the bolt to properly cycle. The gas would "hit" the piston tappet face and all inside exposed surfaces of the tappet cylinder, including the backside of the selector plug, the same way no matter how the weapon was supported. The pressure would still increase and the tappet would unlock the bolt and the chamber gases would the cycle the bolt just the same way. What I wonder about
  19. I paid $490 for my Arsenal S-12, shortly after hearing about the impending release of the ATF Study. I called it a "Prudent Buy". Someone else called it a Panic Buy. See- Saiga Prices... I stand by my assertion. I'm fairly new to Saigas, but not to the firearm/ammo market. The "Panic Buys" are fixing to start. Now excuse me, but I've got a new S-12 to clean. I'm breaking it in on Saturday and then I'll order the conversion parts.
  20. LRBHO models (only) still in stock at K-Var, $630.00 You might want to get it while the gettin's good. LRBHO S-12
  21. To clarify things, my FFL is a great guy, he is not the Elmer I was referring to. Elmer was just hanging out.
  22. That is how long my FFL was on hold today, waiting to submit my info so I could go out the door with my 2nd S-12. Of course for the whole time, the standard issue, mile a minute mouth, Know It ALL Elmer was ensconced deep in a not so brilliant Bullshit session with no apparent light at the end of tunnel. Made it seem like 36 hours. Anyway, my FFL said that for the last 3 weeks or so, he has been on hold, in "the queue" with the NICS for up to 45 minutes. Anyone else been seeing this? Once my info was submitted, approval came in a minute or so.
  23. I have quite a few of the Seville workbenches and rolling cabinets. I like them. Here are some pics of more of them in my reloading room. I've made some changes since, but the basic layout is the same. http://forum.saiga-12.com/uploads/gallery/1296176597/gallery_14946_258_86449.jpg http://forum.saiga-12.com/uploads/gallery/1296176597/gallery_14946_258_21248.jpg
