Agree with Basic13, apples and oranges. SHTF definitly Saiga, punchen sub MOA definitly the Remmy (heavy barreled and a scope theremmy will not be light either).

Your gas system will be fine assuming you go no shorter than 16 inches. What length were you looking to go?

Depends on what your looking for, that would make a great flash suppressor but offers no compensating qualities. I also enjoy the authentic look. The 74 brake (love mine) is a great brake just really loud for people shooting on static ranges. That is because the S308 barrel is massively thick compared to a regular AK barrel.Literally they are either 17mm or 5/8in under the front sight base.An AK74 front sight base isn't even big enough to be a muzzle device for an S308. The trick is to modify your front sight base and move it back on pin space and thread the barrel either 17

Dremel/drill the rivets out if you would like to remove the old trunnion.

I added a brake and didn't notice much difference in recoil at all from 22, to 16 w/break. At 16 there is a noticable fireball when fired. Did the work myself with the help of Brian from Dinzagarms.com. Cobra did a tutorial on here somewhere.

Went from 22 to 16 and no reliability issues with mine. I know that is shorter then you would like, but I love it!

Why improve something that runs fine and has no problems? The action will smooth itself out with use. If this is very important to you, you need to remove the shepards crook and the pin will move freely.

Just need a tromix or Dinzag adapter to mount. $20 7) Saiga 12 Sight rib, if you want that S12K look or replace that old one. $35

Not sure if I understand your question, Siaga's do not come with pistol grips. You could always buy a couple lengths of pic rail and attach them to the stock hand guard.
