  1. buy the rifle..........especially if you don't already have one
  2. Datrowl-The main problem with the contenders is that you have only one shot. I don't know if you've ever shot rifle caliber pistols but it takes an extreme amount of practice to be proficient with them. If your really stuck on the rifle caliber pistol idea check out a Savage Striker, at least you'll have a quicker reload. 20-Mags-I really like that Russian cosmonaut gun! Pretty nifty huntin gun. A few thoughts on this subject. -Your chances of finding ammo just laying around in a SHTF scenario is slim, stock up and stack deep. -A shotgun is nice until you step outside......the
  3. Gentleman.....all this argument over snow, why? It's pretty obvious to me that in those conditions you would/will have lots of black ice.
  4. Gary-That really is one of the most beautiful Garands I've ever seen! Congrats on a fine purchase, can't wait to see range pics.
  5. Did a Fusion firearms 10mm hunter build a few years back, I was pretty pleased with it. No longer have it, wished I'd kept it.
  6. What he said, plus alot of time practicing your mil-dot math. I once thought these were an interesting item so the next time I went to the gun shop I asked to see one. They weigh in at almost two pounds, the glass is only ok and the salesman said that he wouldn't buy one after his experiance with it on semi snowy days during deer season (kept giving him the wrong distance). He also said he really didn't like it at low light (evening) because everything would "blur together". It's an LWRC R.E.P.R fella........get her what she deserves! For that amount of money you could pick up a nice trij
  7. I suppose he meant the more accurate ones used for hunting like your talking about (second shooter). Regardless, the point is that I'd never put down my more technologically advanced systems because a black powder rifle is "good enough". Heck, I'd take a bow and arrow at closer ranges cause last time I checked it takes awhile to reload a black powder rifle.
  8. 300Whisper and 300BLK are essentially the same round. 300whisper can be made from .221 fireball or .223/5.56 brass, 300BLK is made from .223/5.56. How is the "case head" different. AAAAAAAAAAAND congrats to you Sumsky! Sweet setup.
  9. Bullshit. You shoot at me with your black powder rifle. I'll start from 1000m out and you take potshots at me ( careful, I move!) and we'll see how it goes from 100m in when I get there. Technology (even a 6 shooter) triumphs this. History 101.
  10. Trying to find an Excursion at a decent price. Why does no one understand my burning desire to flatten toyota prius' and want to give me a discounted price?

  11. They look short and fat to me. Short and Phat can be sexy! Short and Fat not so much.
  12. Pretty much any surefire light is capable of withstanding the recoil and heat that a gun can put out. I've seen many fixed to weapons with zero issues. Great to have all that light, but I find the weight to be counter productive.
  13. Glock 26-cause it's sexy and it knows it!
  14. I actually went with a Streamlight M6 from a recent trade. I was told it was something different but it seemed strong enough to withstand some beating. I also figured since this was just to try out the concept before spending any serious money (Surefire X400, Streamlight TLR-2), it would do just fine. I've also heard some good things about Fenix, very bright. How reliable/rugged are they? Ben4345, you just need to use some scope rings or actual flashlight mounts. I've done this with my Surefire GP in the past but don't really like the added weight. My main goal was to stay under 16oz
  15. Ruffian72-Think you can pick me up at the end of the world? Sounds pretty comfy in that rig! 1.Maurauder-want....but to poor 2.Jeep Cherokee-REALLY?! Over an excursion or expedition, puhlease. 3.Toyota Hi-Lux-can't find one and I like to buy American 4.Solar car-all good in the hood until you have to clear a 1" curb 5.Subaru-I don't dare put myself in one of the worlds largest yuppie cllub vehicles. 6.VW Microbus-If I'm on a short bus at the end of the world.........enough said 7.Woody wagon-"is this the apoclypse or a demolition derby? 8.Porsche 911-If it's the end of the world I'
  16. I'm waiting to see the guy who preps because "I have all this food and fuel in the event that I lose my job and still want to have the ability to support my family".....Doesn't anyone else plan like this? I remember when I was younger and times were actually really good economically and finding out that my Grandpa and Grandma were preppers (both lived through the great depression as young adults) by walking in to a room full of food and water in there basement. TP, wood, propane, gas, hand tools, etc.....in short my Grandpa was prepared for anything. As a WWII/Korean war vet he used to tell
  17. Thanks Indy.....LOL! that makes the $ I spent look like chump change! Now I don't feel like I spent to much............... OH NO! IT'S HAPPENING AGAIN! Can't.....resist.....pulling......out.......card to order more.....

  19. LOL! Me to! The funniest part was when I walked in the door and my wife says "that looks new". I said "no it's used.......................................................................just not by me". I have a great wife, she just shakes her head and walks away.
  20. Hello, my name is YARP and I have "buy it now" syndrome. The doctor said I would have "relapses" after my initial outbreak.....I've been doing so well until this weekend. Off I went to the gun show to sell some things, this money was supposed to be used for my future business plans yet the urge to resist good deals was tough.....but I pulled through only picking up the needs on my list! Pleased with doing such a good job I headed merrily on my way........as I drove along I saw a Cabelas "what harm could one little stop do" I thought in the back of my mind, "I'll just be quick cause I've got
