  1. I followed the tutorial and didn't destroy the guard that was on the SG. and I am not that great at modifying or fabricating things, so I seriously doubt you will have any problems
  2. that is nothing new. if you wanted a US made flag, you should have went with ANNIN. not only do they make US and state flags, they have a DoD contract to make unit Guidons,Bn./Reg. flags etc... they are more expensive then the chinese made flags.
  3. yep that's that's what he is saying. you probably will need to take a rod from the other side and tap that "puck" out. mine was frozen in there from the carbon, after firing 200 rounds, so it wasn't like it was when it was new, you just turn the thing upsidedown and it fell out just clean it with a solvent based cleaner, or CLP, and dry it well. don't oil or put oil in the gas tube, otherwise it might plug up the gas port with carbon sludge.
  4. WOW! that is one sorry execuse of a conversion for 2.3K and 23 months. I am not that mechanically incline, but I believe I would have done a much better job then that.
  5. sold off both my pump SGs, a NORINCO repo 97 trench and a MOSSBERG 590, and never looked back.
  6. I use BRAKE-FREE, it's a all in one product, cleaning rod, bronze brush, patches and a rag. my advice keep it simple.
  7. you went through the trouble of paperwork and paying the 200 dollar tax, not to mention the wait, my advice get a qualified gunsmith to cut and crown the barrel. I mean really, why go cheap at this point? and possibly screwing up a barrel
  8. +1, that is what I did, except for the tig weld part. why pay for another trigger guard when you have one that is perectly functional
  9. ROBINSON ARMS was the only importer of them, I don't know if it was exclusive contract or something ROBINSON ARMS paid them to have made just for them.
  10. he was probably hoping that you would buy another, after hearing that. like I said, never underestimate what some dealer will sink to, to make sales.
  11. he is BSing you. to me it sounds like he is sitting on a bunch of SAIGAs that isn't moving, so he came up with that to get you to buy one, or 2 never underestimate what some dealers will sink low enough to, to sell their wares.
  12. riveting a trigger guard is a easy thing to do, you don't need any special tools for that. all you need to do is install the rivet in the hole, the round side against the trigger guard plate, put the thing onto some thing very solid, I use one of the jaw of a vise, take a drift pin and smash the otherside that is in the receiver flat.
  13. yes, that's what it's design to do, hold the pins in. I made my own, instead of buying it. not all that sophisticated or complicated to make.
  14. you can order the form 1, (F 1 (5320.1) - Application to Make and Register a Firearm) from the ATF distribution center, via on-line. takes less then a week to get to you. you will also need , F 5330.20 - Certificate of Compliance With 18 U.S.C. 922(g)(5) - "citizenship form". http://www.atf.gov/forms/dcof/ you already paid for the printing and mailing of these forms form 4s are transfer of NFA items that are already registered. you only need this form if you are going to buy a NFA item
  15. all my mags are USGI M16 mags, 20s and 30s, different manufaturers, all work just fine. I don't fall into the "latest and greatest" marketing scheme that some manufaturers like to tout about their mags.
  16. punch the barrel retainer pins out, press off the FSB, is how to get it off. reverse the process for installion. I'm not 100 percent sure if the bulgarian FSB has the same inside diameter as the inside diameter as the SAIGA FSB, that is for someone else to chime in on
  17. I saw a few NIB S-.223s at the NILES gunshow last weekend, so they are out there. a good percentage of FFL holders in the local gun show circuit, do not have a store, they just do the show circuit
  18. I just used regular ol' flat black spray paint I had in the basement. you don't need to get all fancy or use some kind of "special" paint. the purpose of this exercise is just to cover up the bare spot
  19. I hit it with regular ol' off the shelf black spray paint. it's only 2 small areas of bare metal, and it's not in a area that will see lots of rubbing or use. you don't need to go nutzoid overboard by redoing the entire receiver for 2 small bare spots.
  20. there isn't, that was the first thing I search for in NY law, when he posted that he was active duty going to be assigned to NYS. it's funny, because Ca. does allow AD military personel to bring their privetly owned weapons (POW) that are classified as "AW", and who are not residence of Ca, by first registering it with the Ca. DOJ before bringing it. NYS does not have that exemption.
  21. thanks . at 100 yards if I am concentrating, a cloverleaf. if I am just shooting, about 3 MOA. this is using 7n1 ammo
  22. you can always have the inner diameter of the brake milled out, the slip it over the end of the barrel and weld it on
  23. the 2 I had, one was imported in 93 by BIG BEAR the other in 94 imported by CENTURY. I sold one of them to a buddy. still have the other, I hooked them up by by buying the soviet laminated furniture, and had the FH/front sight installed to the one I kept the one I kept I can tell you, the price I paid for both of them, as well as the furniture and FH/sight combo, is about half what one of them goes for now.
