  1. Loaning a friend my .458 SOCOM when he goes hog hunting this year. Curious as to how well it will do. Anyone know how the hogs react to an IR laser as opposed to red or green ?
  2. I have a "bucket list" of weapons and my wants are quite simple. I should probably be ashamed of them being so common, but eh. M14 (or exact equivalent in an M1A1 ). Was taught in basic to love that rifle and I still do. Humped an FAL around for a time but still love the M14. 1911. Plain old GI 1911. Thinking about a pre ban Steyr AUG I was offered but just can't get excited about it. And if I get one fantasy, GM6 Lynx.
  3. Hm. Like having NC ban New Yorkers from entering due to moral turpitude. Think of the screaming and hand wringing that would cause.
  4. There is a yearly event just for the pure fun of making things go boom in a safe and orderly manner. If the thought of someone doing this disturbs you, please look away and pay no mind. If you would not spend money for something like this I understand perfectly. As much as I would love to go, the funds just aren't there. For those not offended, Awesome day for everyone that goes and some of he most impressive pyrotechnics you will see outside of a major overseas fireworks accident. Apologies if I have broken a taboo with the graphic, Mods, please delete if I have.
  5. yup. Democrat controlled cities seem to be leading the list. Mayhap the fact that democrat politicians for the most part seem to behave as criminals as well? I cite: Hillary, Bill, Leland Yee, ad nauseam. And as long as the left and Soros keep pushing money and activists into these places the problems will continue to mount until one of them places literally burns to the ground. The 1968 riots will look like a pillow fight then.
  6. One of the better stocked and attended local gun stores has multiple levels of security for night, not limited to awake, armed and trained folk who would give the burglars or even rioters a very warm reception. And that would be after having to breach multiple levels of passive defenses.
  7. A civics teacher long ago drove a point home to me I have never been able to forget. " There may not be any one running or any issue you may want to vote for, but for damned sure there will be things you want to vote against ". as I see it, if you don't like or want a candidate and decline to participate in the voting process you have pretty much capitulated and voted for the things you don't want. On the other hand if there was a way to vote for " none of the above, pick new candidates and try again " there might be better options. From all the studying I can do it looks like Cruz is the
  8. Getting ready to put my 109 in a kushnapup stock. Any hints to pass along?
  9. We have three mom and pop stores locally as well as Gander and Academy. No shortages (yet) here in Texas. Plenty of standard caliber ammo in all the stores and no sign of price gouging (as of yet). Used firearms are not as plentiful as usual but not scarce. But .22 long is still in either nonexistent or priced to the point of pain.
  10. I can't remember who said it but the phrase "All skill is for naught when an Angel pisses in your flintlock" suits. Let's hear it for the Angels screwing up the enemy's efforts!
  11. I vary between two daily drivers depending on what I am doing. 1984 Toyota vanwagon is my work van. 268K miles and 22-24 mpg in town. Other is an 82 VW Rabbit Diesel Pickup, odometer quit working at 210K. The fact it gets 45+ MPG is my favorite part about it.
  12. And a Tok is a truly durable tool! Not the most concealable weapon around but not bad either. SCCY makes a very concealable 9mm for under 300 new. keep it clean and serviced with quality ammo and it is a reliable backup.
  13. Wait! You mean this is an honest to goodness forum and not simply a set - up to identify all the "domestic-Redneck-Right Wing terrorists" to the feds so they can be herded into FEMA Re Education camps when the Emperor and the NWO ordain it? These are -REAL- people expressing -REAL- opinions publicly? Oh my.. This must be a very dangerous place! (snark/sarcasm font off)
  14. A very clean CZ 52 and a couple hundred rounds of 7.62x25 and picked up a Kel Tec RFB.
  15. Acquired RFB. Range time now!

Thank you! Deal I just couldn't turn down

  16. Seems that MSNBC put up a poll on the public carry of firearms and it isn't likely going the way they wanted. The poll only allows one vote per individual so stuffing the ballot box is a bit more difficult than usual. Poll Question: http://www.msnbc.com/msnbc/poll-do-you-think-people-should-be-allowed-carry-guns-public Wonder if they can handle the truth or if it will get nuked?
  17. I like the concept, could not tell if it was .380 or 9? Assuming .380 due to size.
  18. Okay, I'll try.. Ahem.. A common enough phrase I hear... FORNICATION! DEFECATION! MICTURITION! Give me a break here, it is Sunday after all. Lord, keep your arm around my shoulders and your hand over my big mouth. ( stolen shamelessly from another forum )
  19. Thank you for the kind words Jess and evilblkpwnz. This project is going on four years of a little time here and a little there. The trigger assembly has been redone at a dozen times with improvement at most every step and it bears little resemblance to it's original incarnation. The front grip was due to how short the ventral rail was in the beginning. Since then I put a rail on that was just long enough for a Magpul AFG2 and it is much better. Looked at the PTK and thought about it but none were available locally and never seemed to be able to find one in stock. Looks like they are more read
  20. Call me sacrilegious then but I turned a severely bubba'ed Saiga .223 into a bullpup a few years back and it has been a favorite at the range. Lots of tweaking and mods along the way and the only unmodified part from the bullpup kit is the buttstock. No new pics of it ( have to fix that ) but the old ones are in my gallery. Threaded the barrel and added a lantac dragon, much better uptic and QD points for one and two point sling.
  21. And if you trade freedom for " Security " you deserve neither.
  22. I wish you luck, I haven't seen any of the AK conversion kits in a couple years now and I would like to have a couple more. Best bet is want ads in the forums you visit or make it yourself.
  23. Quit a dozen times over thirty years, always ended up backsliding. Finally quit smoking in 2009 cold turkey. Really bad case of pneumonia can do that to you. Started having cravings a few weeks later but a friend introduced me to e-cigs and I haven't been tempted to to light up again even though most of the folks I know smoke. On the other hand, Jack and I were close friends for most of my life. When I was put on warfarin and warned that alcohol would cause problems we never spoke again ( bottle on the corner of my desk slowly evaporating away since '10 ).
  24. Hey! I resemble that remark! (Oy, my aching wallet)
