  1. This is for all you guys that are looking for a top coat that will help increase grip on smooth surfaces. It will be great on the Kpup grips, on magazines, etc. I have made custom grips for my Kpup stock but they are smooth as the skin on a baby's ass. So far all I had found were products that were either too thick (rubberized undercoat, bedliner) or would leave a sharp gritty finish (duplicolor sand spray, bed liner, etc). These would probably work if that is what you like. There was a tv infomercial advertizing a rubberized spray on leak sealer. They even sprayed a screen door and secu
  2. You might check out saigatechusa. They have some similiar looking weapons on the websight. It could be a fix as simple as changing out the front gas block for one that has a short rail section as part of it.
  3. Oops.....got an extra word in there and it changed the whole meaning.......remove the word "not" from the second to last sentence. "you will in effect be opening the gas block completely and eliminating the only portion that helps keep the threads on the plug clean.
  4. Don't D Port it. You change the design of the gas block and could create additional problems. Enlarge the size of the gas port in the block but DO NOT go past the sealing lip. Then from the bottom side of that hole (the side that would sit on the barrel) add additional taper to the port. You will in effect be opening the gas block completely and not eliminating the only portion that helps keep the threads on the plug clean. There are plenty of threads that cover this subject.
  5. Stopped at the magazine section in the grocery store this evening. Picked up the October copy of Special Weapons to glance at. There seems to be a new player in the Custom Saiga arena, or maybe they aren't. I just thought I'd pass along the info as there was a lengthy article written about their custom Saiga shotguns and AKs'. I've not heard of this company before but they have a fairly nifty website. Bravo 18. It's always fun to read about our favorite children. Take a look and post your opinions.
  6. You can do anything if you put your mind to it. If you think it will work then make it so. If it doesn't come out the way you want it then just start over. "nuff said"

Looks Awesome. Multi cam w/snakeskin. Not a bad combo. Better not set it down to squat in the woods, you might lose it.lol Did you use a hydrostatic paint and dip it or the traditional masking and spraying? Again.....Really nice job.

    Welding

Where the F@#% in Indiana are you? Just do it the easy way. Buy your rear plate from CSS and then find a local welder. Not some hillbilly in his shed out back but someone who knows what they are doing. Just look in your yellow pages. That would be quicker and you would save in headache and shipping.
  9. Hey lewie, all the brakes listed work. Everyone Ive talked too has good to say about theirs. I have the DINZAG on mine. I haven't figured out how to measure the exact percentage of reduction but it helps. It looks good also and you can mount a bayonette with it. A couple of the others add significant weight to the end of the barrel. That in its self will help reduce felt recoil. If you really want to elimnate felt recoil then toss a Limb-Saver butt pad on your weapon. It will be the best move you could make. Alot of members will confirm that. But again, this is just my thoughts on t
  10. Both DINZAG and CSS have some awesome conversion vids on their respective sites. Go and check em out. It's so easy, even a cave man can do it!!
  11. It would sound a whole lot better if you were to ask for a less expensive alternative. Brian makes awesome stuff. He dives into areas that nobody else wants to do. Just remember the old saying "You Get What You Pay For". With Saigas this is more than true. Good luck on your build.
  12. Go check out DINZAG's web site. Brian has a rear sight block and gas tube conversion that is tits. If you go that route then you should be able to use the TWS rail/dustcover conversion as the conversion is set up like a rifle. Drop Brian an email and explain what you would like to do and he will get back to you with a list of the parts you will need. Also, he is awesomely fair on his pricing. He might even toss in some discounts for a big order.
  13. I know you didn't ask about this one, I have the DINZAG AK74 look alike for the S12. It is 3 3/8 overall length and only adds 2 1/2 to the barrel length. I had a similiar question when I first started Saiga conversions. Personally speaking I would use a TAT and DIE to rethread the end of the barrel. Then weld or blind pin it in place. You won't have to worry about misalignment and the issues that come with that. Good luck with your build. RLTW.
  14. Ive been busy with family members in hospitals so I haven't been online for awhile. I am currently building my Kpup rifle in 7.62x39. I did a little trigger work on the factory conbobulation while I am waiting for a new Arsenal 2 stage from DINZAG. I ordered it on Monday this week and Brian shipped it the same day. It should be here tomorrow. I found that you can get a little smoother pull with just a little work. What I did was to drill and tap the trigger and wishbone rivets so I could reuse them. The trigger is in a constant state of binding with the factory FCG pin retainer. The sprin
  15. Now we're talkin. Oh Yeah. I already have 2 more projects in mind that require a rifled barrel. And an interchangeable system to boot. That is the shit. Put me on the list please.
  16. Shotty, having worked in the automotive industry and sold Duplicolor products, I would not recommend that you use the truck bed coating to cover your grip areas. In the description it clearly states that it is a non-skid product. Basically what that means is that it dries very hard and has numerous surface edges that are not soft. You would cut the daylights of both your hands if you use this. Go to an auto parts store and look at the display. Some of them have a sample of the dried product. Just tryin to save you a headache before you get it.
  17. Count me in for several. Wanting to build up an inventory of parts. What type of inserts are you thinking of using? HK, Lyman Globe Inserts, etc. the only other suggestion would be to increase the height of the sight ears, so as to allow for the possibility of mounting a pic rail. You can always shim the rear sights up higher but can only go so low. Internally I would consider tapering the gas port with the widest portion sitting on the barrel. That would give you a little extra area for the gas ports in the barrel to be completely exposed. Great Idea. RLTW.
  18. Let's not forget that this comes from the same city whose mayor wants to outlaw "SUPERSIZE COLA" drinks. Because of the availability of a large drink America's ability to fight obesity is rendered moot. Bloomberg is an idiot and so is his government.
  19. Hold the phone......R and R Targets said last week and I spoke with them again on Monday, they have carriers inbound for testing and then bolts will follow. We didn't linger too long on subject but I left the conversation with the feeling that it wouldn't be more than a month or so when they come to market.
  20. Nice. Maybe we could trade some trigger time. Welcome to the forum. I see you live in my old stompin grounds. PM me if u get a chance.
  21. TWS makes an excellent product for rifles. Not to cause a major drama case but I wouldn't hold my breath Bizarro. April 6, 2011 @ 3:30 pm I received an email stating the same thing. The wordage was almost verbatim. While it would be another cool accessory for the S12, I don't see it happening.
  22. Thanks Bigchris. Hope you got to read all 3 posts on it. I love the fact that I absolutely don't feel any recoil at all.
  23. He is good. He sat on the bench for 20 some years, retired and then hung out his own shingle.
  24. Well......here we go again. Not enough room for pics. Im gonna try and keep this part short. My son is jonesen for dinner. I cant get him to understand that there is more nutrition in a beer than a hamburger. When I decided on how to build this thing I knew I didnt want it to beat me to death and I didnt want to go through some of the horror I read about from other members. I musta done something right. The range I used is about an hour drive for me. It is owned by the DNR and is an awesome setup. Made the zero ranges on Hunter AAF look like they were made by........well I cant say i
  25. I really didn't have much of an outline for finishing the build so I worked on the areas that I had parts for. And it even seemed to work. After all the polishing work was done, I fit the CHAOS TITAN rail so it was an acceptable fit. While I fit the rail I also started working on an attachment system so I could have the dust cover open and close with the rail. Got that figured out fairly quick. Took a section of 5/16 keystock attached it to the rail and then worked it down to where I came up with a strait setup. Put a rear sling attachment point for a hook type. It is a pin and fitting s
