  1. 5.56 isn't strong enough for a lot of hunting applications, if you had a good broadside shot 100yds or less, yes it would be fine. It's a pretty well accepted fact that about 900 ft/lbs is whats humanely needed to kill deer sized game ( I beleive it can easily be done with less at close ranges with clean/precise shots) if you have to take a quarter shot to get to vitals you could be spending days following bad blood trails to get to half spoiled meat. If its up to me I'd like to be able to take a 300yd shot under bad conditions if needed to provide for my family.
  2. You can buy a cheap bolt .308 that'll shoot sub moa and several hundred rds and a good scope and be at the same price as the colt or fn just for the gun Savage mossberg ruger's new "american" - all of these brands bottom line gun will shoot sub moa and will still be shooting sub moa when your worm food
  3. X39 and 30-30 are pretty weak compared to the .308. The stockpile argument is the only plus side over .308 and that's not nearly as strong of an argument on this side of the Atlantic - many more bullet options in the .308 too Edit- i really want an ar-10 in .308 but just not sure if theres 600 dollars more of gun there over the vepr .308 any own both that can comment?
  4. For hunting purposes I'd rule out the .45, im a fan of the .308, especially if its going to potentially hunt game, your defensive 50yd shot might mean a lot of rice and potato flakes for a long time, you be surprised how cagey a deer can be if there's a lot of hunting pressure and you havnt bathed for a week.
  5. I'm not saying I want more gun control but, its going to be hard to rationally argue gun rights with 20 fresh small graves dug.
  6. We use to all drive our 4x4's down to obx when the blues where runing, get as many nice fish as you'd wanna clean, the occasional Spanish Mack was nice too!
  7. Is the cut made the same as the tromix adapter?
  8. For lever guns I kinda like the .338 mar good energy and long range ballasitics, if I were beating the brush in kodiak territory I wouldn't mind that alaskan
  9. That's neet, my only concern is you get significant barrel wear faster than about 3700 fps----Nvm was looking at energy
  10. I don't know which company you work for but my company will keep the investigation from going to arbitration for a couple years, a long time to go w/0 a paycheck
  11. That's kinda what it looked like to me too Chile, just hoping to get an inside view of it or maybe there's somthing I dont understand about the "no knock" warrant procedure, seems like if I were a cop I wouldn't want to do this
  12. I was wondering what the deal was with "no knock" warrants, specifically how the officers are to identify themselves? I mean if I hear my dog growl at 1am and grab the 870 from behind the headboard im probably squeezing off the 1st round as soon as I'm sure its a forced entry. I read a local article today referencing an officer being shot in a no knock warrant situation.
  13. I watch sports all the time, one of the few things I do watch. It's stupid you would share blame of his short comings and flawed reasoning with me, no one at all would be surprised if this was said by someone on a reality show, he is suppose to be a professional and was not last night. I was just starting to like this guy for the way he attacked Sandusky on live television (which was also biased and unprofessional)
  14. usually the munitions trains for the military have armed military guards, sometimes marshalls, they don't get stopped often let alone sitting unguarded in a switching yard. The stuff you see moved by rail isn't nearly as bad as the stuff they disassemble or keep covered on the trains...
  15. OJ was mad enough to do it with a knife-steak knives need to be controlled better! Is he really trying to lead me to believe these roided walking muscles couldn't kill someone without a gun?
  16. True, security isn't every where at once, but you'd have to get pretty lucky to find the the intermodel car that had weapons in it w/o inside help. On a side note all the yards have security cameras in them but the feeds aren't recorded for security reasons, how Ironic. Theres a lot of places in heavily populated areas were not allowed to stop, even if we hit a vehicle, beacuse the intermodels get broken into. Where i live people wait until we slow way down going up the steep grades and jump on the top and cut in, the metal between the studs on those cars is pretty thin aluminum, they toss out
  17. I work for the railroad, there is security- railroad agents still have as much jurisdiction as an FBI agent, and are actually pretty well trained, 2/3's have pretty elite K-9 units also. It's true there's not a lot of them but there's enough to make me believe this was an inside job. The consists of these rail cars are not easily obtained for homeland security reasons.
  18. any one try the brand pursuit, got one cheap online today at bass pro, probly won't hold as well but if i ever put more than a few hundred slugs down the barrel i'll be surprised
  19. Yea, I understand that, I'm saying $20 bucks for a spring is crazy though, hard to believe you couldn't find one somwhere that would work for like $2- I wouldnt order extensions unless I could find some springs that would work from somewhere else, cheaper
  20. I wonder how generic the 10 rd spring is, its got to be the same size as one used for somthing else, no spring shops in town though...
  21. looks like you spent more on a .22 than i did on my .45--- i like it though, i was looking at the mark ll or buckmark myself, i carry a 10-22 for trapping and want somthing smaller, was reading somewhere that these little autos were more inherently accurate than the little wheel guns, i also shoot autos in all my full sized pistols so it would probably be better to stick with the functions i'm used to- glad this thread was started
  22. I apologize, you can only press someone so much about a product they're involved with before its business related- that was my bad
  23. Could the bottom rail just be left off for people with small hands- have a hard time gripping the quad rails on my dads s12 ?
  24. If your thinking 30/30 I'd go .338 marlin, only ballistically sound lever gun
  25. All the rails come off in case you wanna trade them out for short ones?
