  1. I was looking at getting a Kimber in . 357 for snake caps and 'other varmint'. Then I realized that this would not be a carry piece, just a mowing, hiking, truck console, night stand gun. So I bought a Taurus polly Public Defender. .410 has a LOT more shot, and .45 is BIGGER than .357 for 'other varmint'. The new 4 - 000 buck rounds are my night stand go-to.
  2. I had an early Gerber, the GOOD one with actual bearings in the hinge. Wore it out, and went to use the "lifetime replacement guarantee". They wanted to replace it with a cheaper model with NO BEARING. I said fuck it. Still have that old Gerber in a JUNK DRAWER somewhere. Use the sheath for my crappy ass Leatherman.
  3. I thought we were talking venison, now we bring up long pork?
  4. Glad you are still here to post !! Every day on the GREEN side of the grass is a GOOD ONE! Get well brother and enjoy every single God given day.
  5. Capacity is no problem, Uncle Sugar got the $$$$, we WILL make a zillion of whatever they want! The problem was always that the best designs were not available. Liberty Ships were an OBSOLETE WWI design - but quick and easy to build. The Sherman Tank was an infantry support tank - designed and put into production in a matter of weeks. We DID NOT have a main battle tank until AFTER the Battle of the Bulge, it took THAT LONG to design one and it's assembly line. There is some good logic behind always having the most $$$ weapon systems in production for peace time. They are the ones that take
  6. The curved sections of a 225gal oil tank will work too, Cut watermelon slices out of the curves and weld together.
  7. Find the local discount /liquidator for appliances and get a 'scratch and dent' chest freezer 12 - 20 CUFT. Keep it full , use water bottles to fill empty space. They double down as ice for your summer beer cooler!
  8. F-16, and F-18 assembly lines are still working. Foreign sales still making some $$$$$. We need to keep them open so we have the ability to scale up to wartime production QUICKLY!
  9. And make the damn thing EASY TO FIX AND MAINTAIN!!! No more weapons that need 10 hours maintenance to work for 2 hours!
  10. We need a modernized attack plane. High sub sonic cruise speed, and the loiter ability to 'play all day'. Needs to be at LEAST as tough as the warthog, and have the ability to shoot down /jam drones and survive in congested urban environments.
  11. When TEOTWASWEKIT happens, there will be cockroaches , and SOMEWHERE there will be somebody eating them!
  12. Too WW II ! I would like to see a 'current tech' Re-do of the Warthog.
  13. Old farts like us would never be able to do long trips on the Interstate without Cracker Barrel's! Perfectly named - usually a bunch of us old Crackers sitting there! They DO have a perverse sense of humor, just to fuck with us, they make the layout of all their restaurants the exact same >EXCEPT< they reverse the mens and ladies bathrooms in every 5th one - just to fuck with us!
  14. Perspective: We were below freezing for 60 hours here in the Hill Country. My wife lived is South Dakota years ago, when the weather stayed below freezing for 60 DAYS, 2 years straight!
  15. Moved to Texas to get away from East Coast winters (and PEOPLE!). Fortunately, old habits die hard - I put heat in the water shed, and heat tape and insulation on the pipes under the house when I built it, no frozen pipes here, but plumbers are working crazy hours thawing other people's pipes. Welcome to "GLOBAL WARMING"!!! "Climate Change" can also mean that a little ice age is here.
  16. There were at least 3 DIFFERENT S-.410 models imported. Each with a different gas system. And more than 1 variation of each model. ONLY the later models of the adjustable gas system can shoot 2 1/2" shells. If you have a model without and adjustable 'blind plug', or even an early adjustable gas system WITHOUT extended "barrel extension" fingers to guide the short shells, THEY WILL NOT WORK!
  17. The 2 1/2 federal 000 4 pellet buck is awesome! Snappier recoil than .45 cowboy action 225g loads. Hits like a freight train!
  18. Go with the 36" barrel. A single shot would be even more accurate, as it swings better, and you may find that NOT having a follow up shot might make you take better shots.
  19. I am impressed with the Judge. Fugly piece of plastic and steel, but it shoots well. Nice trigger in both single and double action. .45lc shoots low at anything over 30', but that is expected with a 2" barrel, and the shot pattern is MOS (moment of snake!), #9 Estate spreads about 6"-7" at 5', about what I wanted. Maybe tomorrow my neighbor and I will go down to his range and compare this and his new Bisley!
