  1. holy crapballs that looks awful.
  2. Surefire Saiga specific mags work just fine. The lip is higher than a standard AKM magazine to compensate for the lack of bullet guide in a Saiga. I have several in both 10 and 30 round capacities and have not had a problem.
  3. basic arithmetic is your friend. 14 foreign parts - 7 US made parts = 7 foreign parts < 10.
  4. Maybe the black beauty struck him just right and he's out shooting it.....
  5. I seriously doubt you'll find an AKM chambered in 9mm luger. The AKM is an assault rifle, not an SMG.
  6. My carrying case is an East German sling and my hands.
  7. If it's within 4" I'm happy. It's an AK, not a laser beam. 5 rounds with a 4" spread will defiinitely take down an awoken zombie. If ammo conservation is your prerogative, you need to do some thinking. The AKM has 30 round magazine for a reason
  8. field strip your rifle and you will be able to tell if you'll need to chop a hole in your reciever. Grab a good flashlight and take a look at where the pieces of your fire control group are sitting.
  9. sounds a bit harsh, but the idiot should have checked on the legality of his actions prior to doing so.
  10. I guess I got lucky....my gas tube lever moves pretty freely with a tiny bit of effort.
  11. I went cheap and simple. I cleaned the bottom of my receiver with acetone, taped it off, and sprayed it with 3 coats of black grill/oven paint. It looks pretty decent. You can't really tell a difference at a glance, and besides, it's not that often that someone will stare at the under side of your trigger for an extended amount of time.
  12. I wasn't too picky with my conversion. I using some acetone applied with cotton balls. Then I sprayed 3 coats of grill/oven paint over the bottom of my receiver. It's not a perfect match, but once the trigger guard an pistol grip were installed, you really can't tell much of a difference. It seems to be holding up nicely as well. I've forcibly tried to scratch it with no luck.
  13. A pair of latex gloves, some wet naps, and a can of WD-40.
  14. PA has public ranges courtesy of the Pennsylvania Game Commission. There are some regs though, such as low capacity magazines.
  15. bump firing......ugh. Congrats on purchasing an incredible rifle. However, please be responsible.
  16. My gripe with the fiberforce is that it's purely cosmetic. On a Russian sniper scope, it is higher than the iron sights and off center to the left. The cheek rest allows you to steady your head to that level, but swivel it away to use the iron sights if needed. The ATI gives the look, but not the function if you're using a Russian style scope mount such as a PSO or POSP. take a look at the elevation difference for the cheek rest: true dragunov ATI fiberforce
  17. It's not hard to convert at all....I was nervous but wanted to slam my head off the wall for not doing it sooner. Also, it's FUN. I had a blast taking the innards out my rifle and giving it new life. An added bonus: now I know how it functions. A diagram is one thing...holding it in your hands and watching it is so much more rewarding.
  18. If you get a Saiga with the monte carlo stock and change your hanguards, you can use US made hi-caps and be fine. If you get the skeletonized stock, you have to change out your gas piston as well. From what I know, a thumbhole stock counts as a buttstock AND pistol grip according to the BATF.
  19. Just heads up for you folk on this board... My father recently purchased a Savage Stevens 200 short action chambered in .223 Remington for hunting coyote in the mountains of central Pennsylvania. He's a fan of my Saiga 7.62 and he asked me to price .223 ammo the next time I went out for an ammo run. I let him know what I saw about a week ago and he followed up by stopping at the same FFL I've been frequenting. Prices have been going up, especially with decent .223 ammo. The owner of the shop was particularly upset with this. He can't get decent prices and a lot of the reloading ingredi
  20. bah...who cares. The WASR is crap, that's why we own rifles manufactured by IZHMASH.
  21. that's because that rifle already has the "aftermarket junk" installed.
