Al Queda struck down by the Black Death (plague)

Recommended Posts

Does plague occur there naturally?

I mean these guys don't give a shit if they die for their cause...

What I'm saying is, these guys may be incubators for their cause.

Think about it, they either mingle and get others sick or they get the plague and let pests bite them so they infect the pests.

Yes bubonic plague still occurs naturally, like dragon said live like rats, die like rats. This story is about Al Queda in Northern Africa, Algeria. And yes apparently the top goons are now worried about it spreading amongst the different cells :)

The plague occurs naturally everywhere there are rodents. You are a doctor, you should know It even occurs in the south west regions of the US. I know, I lived there for a few years.

There are better biowar weapons available in that region. Plague is very treatable with modern antibiotics. In an agricultural area like that I would go for something else.

You sure you're not thinking about hantavirus pulmonary syndrome (HPS)?

I think it (and the plague) are two different kinds of oranges.

Hanta virus and plague are both propagated by rodents as vectors. Plague is bacterial (Yersinia pestis.) Hanta is seen in the SW US, believe from squirrels. BTW it is the pneumonic form of plague that is the most lethal.

P.S. Nice pic Gaddis............recent or old?

Someone needs to tell them that the cure for it is pork-based :D

I think they actually do use genetically modified pigs to produce the antigens for the Bubonic Plague Vaccine,LOL

And you can make soap from pig fat. FUCKING SOAP.

Hate to admit maybe my mind is further down in the gutter than yours.

How long before you think they start strapping the infected clothing on themselves and bringing it in to society. Strange way to achieve martyrdom.

Kinda reminds me of the US gov't in the 1800's giving smallpox-infected blankets to the native American indians. Not a new idea.

Actually plague does exist in the south west US. I lived in NM for a while and there were a few cases each year. It is easily treated with antibiotics. Yes, Hanta virus is a different thing, a virus. Both occur in the south west but Hanta has been found even further up north up into New England states. Neither is a fun thing, but there is a cure for the plague, namely anti-biotics. Treatment is usually pretty aggressive. I don't think there is an effective anti viral out for Hanta yet, have to take your chances. Hanta came out after I did my bio-med studies so I am not full up on it.

All I know is don't live anywhere on the east coast or in CA. Population density has a lot to do with the spread of the disease and places like NJ exceed India in population density. It's a wildfire waiting to happen anywhere in the BosWash megalopolis.

During the middle ages they would toss sick and dead into enemy strongholds to spread disease. Probably goes further then that. Instead of rocks put bodies into catapults. Instant germ warfare. It also had a great psych-war effect.

I think you are thinking of insulin. Most modern drugs are now using genetically modified yeast cultures. Even insulin is made that way now, Humulin is human insulin grown by genetic engineered micro organisms. The pig based stuff is still made for those with allergies only.

Yup. Stealing the bags of fat from liposuction clinics. Then the bag caught the fence, ripped open, and spilled all over the place :ded: .

They live in filth and that's what they get from their filthy ways. The real G-d who created the heavens and earth is punishing them for their terrorism with this disease, let's see how their Allah saves them from this.

You can make soap out of any fat or oil and some kind of lye or potash. Any fat at all, you could use Crisco or olive oil if you felt like it, but certain fats produce a more useful product than others. I read about it during my mountain-man survival crazy phase.

If I remember right, Hanta is spread by the droppings of any rodent, even mice. I also remember it being really unpleasant, but not NORMALLY fatal to healthy adults.

Guess I could google it and try and confirm what I said, but I'm too lazy and pretty sure someone else is as I type.

Al-Qaeda cell killed by Black Death 'was developing biological weapons'

An al-Qaeda cell killed by the Black Death may have been developing biological weapons when it was infected, it has been reported.

Last Updated: 6:10PM GMT 20 Jan 2009

The group of 40 terrorists were reported to have been killed by the plague at a training camp in Algeria earlier this month.

It was initially believed that they could have caught the disease through fleas on rats attracted by poor living conditions in their forest hideout.

But there are now claims the cell was developing the disease as a weapon to use against western cities.

Experts said that the group was developing chemical and biological weapons.

Dr Igor Khrupinov, a biological weapons expert at Georgia University, told The Sun: "Al-Qaeda is known to experiment with biological weapons. And this group has direct communication with other cells around the world.

"Contagious diseases, like ebola and anthrax, occur in northern Africa. It makes sense that people are trying to use them against Western governments."

Dr Khrupinov, who was once a weapons adviser to the Soviet president Mikhail Gorbachev, added: "Instead of using bombs, people with infectious diseases could be walking through cities."

It was reported last year that up to 100 potential terrorists had attempted to become postgraduate students in Britain in an attempt to use laboratories.

Ian Kearns, from the Institute for Public Policy Research, told the newspaper: "The biological weapons threat is not going away. We're not ready for it."
