jefferson1964 0
I just picked up a bone stock Saiga 12 this past week and plan to shoot it this next weekend. I went to walmart and they have some good prices on winchester and federal ammo...just basic bird shot but fun none the less. What size shells will work with the saiga 12 in the stock magazine, im new to shotguns...so 3inch or 2 3/4....thanks in advance for helping the newbie.....

Just be sure your on the right gas setting. I also recomend getting some lube in there befor you shoot the first time if you havn't.
sunnybean 939
The socialists at my local Walmarty won't sell me more than two boxes of ammo per day. I tried to get 400 rounds of Federal 2 3/4" #7 1/2 and they made me put half of it back on the shelf. And here I thought my money was good. Fugum.
WHITE 3 GOLF 2
That's a gay ass wal-mart. What are they rationing ammo where you live?
corbin 621
It's generally accepted that the Wall Mart Winchester ammo is about the worst you can get for the Saiga. It's made with softer plastic that usually has a slight bulge towards the front of the shell, which can cause the round to hang up and cause feeding issues. The Federal bulk pack is much better IMO. Corbin +1 for Federal If your Saiga can cycle the Winchester, it is likely to be slightly over gazed or the action has been re-worked pretty good.
DavidQ 170
Federal 2 3/4, 1 oz, 7 1/2 shot low brass from walmart works great in my Saiga. I just got 4 boxes today. BTW, I have a 4 holer. Edited March 14, 2009 by AZ-DAVE-IZ109

sunnybean 939
That's a gay ass wal-mart. What are they rationing ammo where you live? It's because I bought 2000 rounds of WWB 9mm in two days. Then, some other guy walked in (the next day) and bought over $1000 worth of .223. So, now they've instituted a rationing program. Only two boxes per day...doesn't matter what it is or who you are. Totally fucked. I hate shopping at Walmart. I thought Walmarty was the epitome of capitalism gone bad. Now I see they have more of a socialist agenda where they are concerned about, as they called it, "being fair." The local gun department manager is a fucktard...if you couldn't figure that out on your own.

Gibbles 23
A walmart in my area started to limit everyone to three boxes... to many people came in to clean them out. I go in late at night and raid the ammo when the sporting goods guy is not there.
Gibbles 23
Once was the best, the stock guy put some cases of ammo on the counter for the morning guy to put away, I found Blazer brass 9mm, so I bought the whole case. (this was at the place with the 3 boxes per customer sign) I go in every once in a while waiting for them to stock the .45 up... I plan on buying all they have up to 2,000 rounds. So, apparently, it's a regional thing. Some people could buy ammo 24 hours a day. But where I live, there's a cut-off, and you can start buying at 7AM or so.

I've never heard of this! I think it's just plain stupid I can't buy liquor on Sundays or beer after midnight (1 a.m. Saturday night/Sunday morning) here in Texas, but telling someone when they can and can't buy ammunition, it just seem wrong. What if you work odd hours and that's the most convenient time for you to go out shopping? Of course, I also think one can't purchase an ATV here on Sundays either, try and find some logic in that . . . But back on topic, I use the Remington Sport Loads from Walmart. My Saiga's LOVE 'em! rbthntr64 21
THe bulkpack federal and winchester birdshot (100 rd) is pretty low power stuff. I am working out a fix for mine at the moment. I have it where its just about right. One FTE in a magazine. Just a little more and I will have it. I am using the winchester on setting 2.
Bvamp 604
http://forum.saiga-12.com/index.php?showtopic=37281 I dunno, we are the official warranty repair center for RAAC (the importer) but what would we know, anyhow?
rbthntr64 21
I dunno, we are the official warranty repair center for RAAC (the importer) but what would we know, anyhow? I think we all know that Ben. Remember that this is also a hobby to many of Us, and neccesity is the mother of invention. The ever present "more than one way to skin a cat" I for one am not questioning Tom or your ability to work on or service the Saiga firearms. I just prefer to work out my own issues instead of sending my weapon off to have someone else do it for me.
Gibbles 23
I converted my S12, that voids my warranty right? And mostly I perfer to work out my own issues, unless it's major and over my head... When I started having auto tranny issues, I did not go to a transmission shop, I started reading. I went way over my head, but a valve body replacment later and I'm good to go! I am having a slight gas tube issue that I'm worried about though...

corbin 621
That seems pretty lame. I would assume that in order to do business, he'd have to have a tax ID. That way he'd be able to collect taxes within his state. I suppose if he does business online, he might not have it, but he would have to collect taxes if he sold anything within the state. Maybe that's way. It still seems lame to me. what the fucking fuck? his company is based in NJ but will not sell ammo to NJ.
CavVet 0
Read up on him. If something goes wrong on your order he will tell you go fuck yourself. He sold a "Vietnam Bringback SKS" that wasnt. And when busted told the guy to foad. Dealing with him is worse than Botach or Rguns. Its a crapshoot. Literally. PinkFloyd 63
I bought 500 rounds of Federal 2 3/4 inch 7.5 shot the other day. The woman (black) at the checkout counter asked me what I was gonna do with all that ammo. I told her with a straight face I was gonna overthrow the government. She just said "But I voted for obama..." to which I replied "My point exactly." The look I got was priceless.
