nsa400 11
I have fallen on hard times. I only have 2 chemo treatments left they are covered. Im unemployed now doc wont let me work, but i have a few prospects. My question is should i sell my unconverted un fired s-223,and or a unconverted s-12 w/ about 250 rounds through it? Im in both guns for around $750.00 Or wait it out and eat top ramen for 2 months, and turn off cable tv and yes i can live w/out tv.

Libraries, in addition to books, often have DVD's you can borrow for free.
RobRez 1,895
I gave up TV on New years and I haven't missed it a bit!! I f you have the net to surf that is plenty. Too much time looking at a screen means you should be out doing stuff! Enjoy a drink in the yard, pet the dog, clean your guns....The little cash you get from the guns will be gone in a flash! The guns you can keep and enjoy for quite a while. Just remember, that Ramen is some seriously salty shit!! Try using half of the "salt bomb packet".
csspecs 1,987
standard logic is that its better to cut costs then to sell assets to raise funds. You may end up selling the guns anyway, but its still best to cut costs first.
superA 289
Easy, Rameen and rice and beans. TV sucks anyway. Been off of it for over a year and I love it.
nsa400 11
Yeh thats what figured. I will hold on to the guns and cut back on everything else lots of projects around the house to keep me going for awile. I know unemployment is up there now. but i cant wait to go to work again! what ever it is. Oh yeh and say goodbuy to cancer!
Arik 565
unless you need the funds IMIDIATLY! I'd cut the tv and whatever other non important luxury i can do without.

Gothmog 24
From one LasVegan to another.... , great to hear you kicked the big C. I would go as suggested in the above posts, reduce and reasses your monthly expentitures, what do you need cable for? A walk up and down the strip is more entertaining and good for your health too, just take it easy and do it at night or early morning, afternoons here can be hard on the fittest of folks. I just got off almost a year of unemployment and I know it can be tough, just hang in there. And if you get a chance and want to blow off some economic steam, head up to the new shooting park, me and a few folks are trying to get a monthly get together with family and friends, the more the marrier. Also Henderson Defense gets together every once in a while and has a great shoot, lot of class 3 and milspec hardware, check them out on facebook, or give them a look see. Times are tough for everyone, but in Las Vegas its a little tougher, 81% of the housing market is underwater and with 13+% unemployment, and it not gonna get better anytime soon, jobs are out there. Might take you a bit to get resettled, but take what ever you can get or do, as soon as possible. Good Luck. Huzzah!!
PinkFloyd 63
If you choose to sell the .223 I may be able to help you out, but I think you're best off keeping the guns and giving up other things... if you have a cell, cut the land line out, cut out TV, eat cheaper, pick up odd jobs... Sucks the "stimulus" package didn't really do much to help us protestant white males... I'm in college and can't find a job to make tuition payments for the life of me, only way I manage is by selling crops from the family farm and garden and do metalworking out of my garage... been making custom knives and doing woodwork and it pays alright, 10-15$ an hour. csspecs 1,987
Thanks! I may put up a cloth line this week to help on the power abit. It's starting to get warm here in vegas. That can save a lot of money actually. If you have an electric water heater turning it off other then before a shower can help. I know my friend who does electric work says that switches for water heaters are a common thing these days. If yours is gas then turn it to its lowest setting when not in use. Water heaters run about 10-20 bucks a month depending on your cost for power/gas. My family is Really really cheap. If there is a way to save money I've done it. Anybody know if it's efficient to turn your fridge off at night? Seems like it would be fine since it's insulated and all.

Graniteer 10
Feel better soon, kick that cancer in the nuts. As far as being cheap goes, just be careful. It's a dangerous road. I have walked down it too many times. I knew I needed help when I started making "tomato soup" using hot water and ketchup. It sounds gross, but after awhile you don't notice anymore. One thing I've found is to just turn off the lights. You can save a ton just by keeping only 1 or 2 lights on. Put more stuff in your fridge/freezer, the whole thermal mass thing will keep it cooler longer and it will turn on less. There's also the "combat showers" where you turn the water off while you soap, like off when you shampoo your hair, etc. That can suck though. Good luck, and get well soon. Bvamp 604
Ill send you some recipe ideas that are bitch cheap and yield lots. Im too often hit with hardship, myself, so trust me, I know how to stretch ten bucks for food all too well. hell, even ramen aint bad. add the dry mix lipton cup of soup to chicken ramen, or a dollar can of chili to beef, and youd be surprised how full you get. invest in a really hot sauce, if you can handle spicy, and youd be surprised what you can come up with. ill pm you my sauce recipe when i get into work tomorrow. remind me if i forget. it gives you a week worth of good sauce for about ten bucks. the spices hurt if you have to buy them all, but you can make 5 or 6 batches easily with the spices you need before having to reup them, plus its actually some really good stuff to boot. start eating with a friend or friends if you can as well. sharing meal costs stretches money even further. you wind up eating just a hair less, but spending half of what you would, usually. water in vegas is "liquid gold". do what they did in the big war, and use your cooking/boiling water to wash yesterday's dishes, and silverwear, then give them a real quick rinse to get the soap off. ...just a few things i could think of quick. fuck TV, watch hulu.com if you have dsl or better. I watch tv for things i can get online now, and these things alone - news, and weather. thats literally it. I hate that goddamn box. nothing like going to go socialise with people, and they are all deaf mutes staring at a light box. GREAT fun. just what i wanna do. Besides, TV is a goddamn liar. bigsal 757
Keep the S12, sell the 223, give up cable, but eat out as often as you can. Food is great at keeping you in a good mood. Maybe Im biased, but theres nothing better than a good restaurant.
Bvamp 604
Ya know, it aint all that big a deal to sell off guns. I sold one of my last ones I own last week for some much needed money, myself. (I think i have 3 left at this point, myself, none of which are worth anything) nothin wrong with that, if thats what you have to do. PM inbound in a few mins... nsa400 11
Yeh im still thinking about letting the 223 go. Besides its not my only gun and i did buy it for an investment.
