Whiskey 21
Just wondering which trigger guards did everyone use. I have seen so many variants and wondering why some trigger guards will work on all other Saiga AKs but not the Saiga 12s? Seen the Saiga military trigger guard but the site that was selling it did not say if mounting hardware came with it. Also saw some very expensive trigger guards 45... 50 dollars plus! Its just a trigger guard not a gold plated trigger guard. Any help or links would be appreciated. Thanks
Mullet Man 2,114
Bolt-on or rivet? RAM Tromix Re use stock AK Builder MD Arms Saigatech JTE TAC47 And a few more Pick your flavor. depends on how in depth you want to get with the install, what features you want and how much money you want to spend . I personally use the older style RAM bolt-on, modified to use an AK pistol grip nut, i'm happy with it for what it is. Eventually i'll upgrade to a rivet on "AK Builder" guard
D.C.MORRISON 494
i'm using the CCS solid billet alum. like it a lot. your cheapest way out is reuse the factory guard.
jayruta 0
I went with the Ak-builder one. I build Ak's and have all the tooling so riveting just felt like the right thing to do.
lbsrdi 1,078
I went with the weld-on Tromix, and I really like it. I used the weld on nipple safety stop with it. Works well for me. This choice gives you an excuse to get those receiver holes welded up and install a weld on back plate. Just noticed how bad my paint looks, this gun has been used a lot. cjruebsam 2
The Carolina Shooter Supply trigger guard is a nice piece!!!!
Scorch95 1
Both md arms and ak-builder have been recommended to me with the md arms having less work to be done out of the two. I have both enroute and will make my final decision once I have both in hand but in the mean time I'm using the CSS guard.
FunkedOut 91
please report back on the AKB compared to MD. I can't imagine either one being better than the other or more work involved either. I went the AKB route because it has a separate selector stop. The stack up of the two piece design looks more like an AKM to me.
Matthew Hopkins 1,065
I reused the existing trigger guard.
evlblkwpnz 3,418
I use AK Builder or MD Arms trigger guards, riveted. It just looks right.
gunfun 3,931
Ho-Made and Izhmash (in a semi new shape) Both bolted at the present, but I may rivet the Izzy if I get bored. Edited February 22, 2012 by GunFun

Now with smaller supports like the 12-C I really like that reinforced plate kit, great for someone who shoots a lot without the stock. imo.

datrowl 111
I'm a big fan of the Saigatech Trigger guards, not nearly as easy to get ahold of as most, but IMHO, its the best " install at the kitchen table " avaliable...

Whiskey 21
Thank you all for the tips, information and help. It did help in making a decision on which to get (was going to go with Cobras) but a friend told me of someone selling Saiga12 parts. I contacted him and picked up a CSS trigger guard for twenty dollars.
