  1. I had one on a chaos quad rail for a while. It was fairly comfortable, but I ultimately decided to get rid of rails and go with one of the K-var handguards and I mounted a small piece of rail under my gass block for a light. The AFG currently resides on an AMD 65 with a tdi polymer handguard (with a rail on the bottom). It doesn't give me the fully outstretched arm positioning that the grip was intended for... but It gives me a very comfortable grip on that rifle.
  2. I had the CAA on one of mine for a while. Decided to go with a wood stockset a while back though. It was sturdy and solid, but as stated, you couldn't use the most collapsed setting. I shot with it 1 click out anyway, so it was fine. $70 is a good deal for that particular setup. I think I paid $120 when I got mine, and IIRC most places sell the tube itself for around $70 - $90.
  3. I don't know if I would trust their ability to convert it, if they were too lazy to take the furniture off and strip it down to paint it properly. I'd honestly probably just try to get my money back for it, and buy one from someone else.
  4. I'm afraid that anti gunners won't know weather or not your s-12 is a true "assault weapon" or not with that traditional looking stock. It will be very confusing for them... until they see that big ass mag... then they will shit their pants. Good job.
  5. I got one of those for Christmas a couple years ago. Pretty much the same thing, but green. It quickly found it's place in my gear as the saiga mag carrier, then the drums. edit: I need a couple more drums to fill mine up though.
  6. I'm running the EMA mag release on one of mine right now. I have a RAM speed catch, but it's not installed on any of my rifles currently. As far as the first change... it looks like he's releasing the tab with the fresh mag.. it works great with the EMA. That one actually has an extended tab down in the original position as well as giving you the capability to release mags with your index finger. The only downside is it's made of polymer. Mine has seen a lot of use, but not any truly rough use... so I can't tell you that it will be indestructable. The RAM catch only has your tabs on either s
  7. When you say "one" are you talking about the standard Krebs safety or the one modded for lefties? Just the standard Krebs. I was more or less just responding to the OP's post. I'd never heard of the other guy's modded safety. I'm right handed, so it's a great solution for me... for a lefty.. you'd need a big ass thumb.
  8. I had the surefire on mine for a while and it was great. The only reason I changed is because I wanted to go with a classic look, and put wood furniture on my rifle. It's a sturdy piece and after shooting with the wood hg, I feel like the surefire heated up more slowly.
  9. I've got one on every ak type weapon I own, and wouldn't have any other kind of safety for them. To me, it's one of the best aftermarket upgrades you can have.
  10. I had a little movement on the front end of mine, just under the gas block. I made myself a little shim out of a piece of trigger guard I removed during the conversion. Folded it over at the front so it would stay put.. and it was rock solid after that. It was pretty minor though... I had to thin out the metal with a dremmel so that it would fit between the gas block and forend. OCD just wouldn't allow me to leave the forend alone with any sort of play in it.
  11. I had one on my x39 before I switched over to wood furniture. I agree that for polymer it's heavy... i think there are some metal inserts. It was sturdy and pretty comfortable. I'll definitely use it on my next rifle conversion.
  12. I have one of the TGI builds that I got a few years ago. I really like mine. I got bored and made some changes to it some time ago, but it's still one of my favorites. Mine was more accuarate than I'd expected from the shorter barrel. They're also loud as hell and look like a flame thrower in low light.
  13. I'll also say Hogue. The Hogue pistol grip feels almost as good as squeezing a titty.
  14. Election season... everything is going to go through the roof, and people are buying like hell right now. It's frustrating to know what's ahead.

  16. I would think you'd be fine to switch mag catches. You'll need to find a couple pins/rivets for the install though, since you'll have to drill out the exhisting ones to get the mag catch out. If your saiga mag catches are filed down and you feel that either is filed too much and out of spec, it's pretty easy to find new condition mag catches as well. I got one from Kvar when I did my conversion.
  17. I ditched my extended quad with rail mounted hk sights for a kvar handguard and the factory front sight post all by itself. Been my favorite setup yet
  18. I would definitely go Magpul over the ATI. Best option for a buffer tube would be the CAA or Vltor ak mountable buffer tubes. Wouldn't use a polymer buffer tube on this gun.
  19. Got some extra parts sitting around myself that I need to find uses for. I'd hate to figure out the dollar amount in items I have that aren't doing anything at the moment.
  20. Got a DPMS tube in a pignose adapter with an MOE stock and it works fine.
  21. Yeah... if you've already got the internal receiver block and you're using a pignose, you're good to go.. there's quite a bit of ajustability in the height of your stock there. You most likely won't have to worry about any kind of riser. I wasn't sure if you were using the CAA or Vltor buffer tube options that attach to your factory tang or not. I haven't checked my chaos rail out with my moe/pignose setup yet... since I switched to the Kvar handguard. I really like the way it handles as it is now.
  22. I'd just get the extended Magpul buttpad for the MOE stock, they're only like $15 and made to work without any extra hassle. I just switched out from an ace stock to an MOE on a buffer tube with a pignose adapter and couldn't be happier with the setup.... also running an extended MOE pad. Also.. you'll probably need a riser for those sights on the Chaos rail. I had the extended quad with sights for a while and couldn't get a very good weld with the ace stock. Not sure how your setup will work out, but you'd probably be better off to get everything but a riser to begin with and see how that
  23. I like the green man. It's sort of hot-rodded out... which I think a lot of us equate these guns to anyway. If I had the money and tools, I'd trick out cars. Guns are cheaper. edit... I just noticed how well it matches my avatar.. so you should probably give me the gun.
  24. I got lucky on my rear sight... it hammered out pretty easy. Already got an xs striped front sight.. but not the Krebs yet. I figured, if the factory front bead ends up being accurate enough on it's own... i'll drop the xs sight into my AR. The XS post was just a little wider than a standard AR front post... also had a trijicon logo on it. I guess the tritium in it is trigicon. Question about the rear aperture on Krebs though.. is it distracting at all, or is it still pretty functional that far forward?
