  1. I don't have the link for you, but you might check out some of the scopes from Sightmark. They are middle line scopes, have IR, variable power and the mil-dot that you are looking for per your requests. I have used them in the past on some of my "truck/4-wheeler guns" and they have held up reasonably well. The optics are decent, the IR worked good (both green and red) and they held zero after some moderate abuse. Hope this helps
  2. Description says that it is available only in Walnut at this time, so I'm guessing that it is wood
  3. Videotape away, it does not bother me in the least. I've got my recorder (audio and video) going, so they might as well have theirs going too. The only thing that I insist on if they are recording is that it is done from a safe distance and does not interfere with the current and ongoing situation. SOPMOD-Agree with your statements about off duty activites. I live in the county that I work in and have had the family members of detainees try to follow me home or make contact with me on two occasions. I'm not worried about the drinking at bars (I don't drink) or the strip clubs (never been
  4. Tom, I am interested in the .50 BMG suppressor. Could you please either send or post some more specs on this one such as weight, length, cost, etc. Thanks GPD
  5. Chile, Well, since you don't have a .50bmg on your list, I voted for the K98 (K31 a close second). I think that everyone should have an AK at some point, but there is just something about the history associated with the old and true main battle rifles from around the world that I love. I nice K98 either surplus or restored from Mitchell's Mausers would be a great addition to any collection, especially since you already have a C&R. Maybe even an old M1 Garand or Enfield would also fit the bill. I own plenty of newer style weapons, but nothing beats the old historical rifles for pure fu
  6. Rocinante, If you take a quick trip down to the DMV, you can pick up the paperwork for a new title. Then just call your local LE Agency and let them know that you need an officer out for a VIN check. They will send someone out to your residence and the officer will check the VIN. When it comes back clear, the officer will sign your paperwork and you can then head down and get a new title. Very simple and only takes about two minutes. I have not checked, but you may be able to download the paperwork from their website. On the flip side of things, if it comes back stolen (which I doub
  7. I am imagining "TONER" here... and I cant get past imagining the nasty black mess that will be your shotgun, magazine, hands, face, etc... cause toner does not adhere to the laws of physics as we know it... and it likes to get on, in, and coat EVERYTHING even remotely solid, within dozens of feet of the source of the toner, without any observed medium of transmission... Indy, have you been playing with the printer again??? AM I WRONG?!?!?!? Have you EVER messed with Toner??? Then you KNOW!!!! Indy, Nope, you are not wrong and yes I hav

  9. The breacher devices have a crown on the front of them, it is used to help grip the surface of a door and steady the shotgun, and a special door breaching round is fired either between the lock mechanism and door jamb, or the hinges. I have yet to notice any change if felt or perceived recoil after having a breaching brake installed. However, they do work very well for jamming and holding the muzzle into the door jams while breaching. As far as breaching goes and contrary to what some may believe, slugs are not used for this simply because you never know whom or what is on the ot
  10. Azrial, I agree with your above statements about the rifle possibly being good on the perimeter or as a patrol rifle. This is exactly why I wanted to do some testing on the platform. We already have our bolt guns for precision shooting and I have yet to find any semi-auto rifle that will stand toe to toe with a bolt for accuracy, round after round. So, we are not looking for replacements in that arena. If we were, we would just use some of the M14's that we have laying around. I am mostly interested in the stringing of the shots when things start to heat up and just how soon and how severe
  11. Holy #@%&, what a hobby. That has to be one of the coolest collections that I have seen in a long time. Thanks for posting the pics and information.
  12. Ok, I just got the OFFICIAL confirmation from the boss (wifey) that I can add another "Keepsake" to the collection. I told her that it would be for our son But first, I think that a set of guidelines should be agreed upon. Anyone can make three or five cold bore shots and end up with a good group (not an accurate test). So, do you want three or five shot groups for testing purposes. And how about the total length of time for all of the shots to be completed by the shooter. I think that this one is going to be important due to several people bringing up barrel heating issues. The rifle w
  13. Well all of this controversy has definately peaked my interest. I have been on the fence about picking up another .308, but I think that one (Saiga) may be in my future. I have read numerous reports about their accuracy, both good or bad, and all of which is confusing. How about this proposition. I will purchase one in the next few weeks, restore/convert it and then run it through the gauntlet at one of our sniper practices. We have 5 designated snipers on the team including myself, all with roughly the same amount of training. Five different shooters on one gun should take a lot of
  14. I guess that I better start paying more attention down at the bottom of the page. Happy Birthday and I hope that it all went well for you.
  15. You need at least 29" to be completely efficient and burn all of the powder. But, the short barrels are spectacular at night fire sessions. And as Banshee stated above, the short barrel muzzle blast is mind numbing.
  16. PYRO, Very nice work and what a good looking shotgun. Thanks for posting the pics.
  17. Nice write up Sal. I am looking forward to the remainder of your findings
  18. Happy belated Birthday WJ . Sorry I missed the original post.
  19. Thanks for all of the birthday wishes folks. Fortunately, I was able to celebrate it yesterday with the wife and son because I had a feeling that I would have to work today. I was right about the work part, but it is still all good. Dogman, I admit it, I laughed my butt off at your post
  20. Chile, So very sorry for your loss, but you will meet again in the future. My thoughts and prayers to you and your family during your time of need.
  21. Shannon, Good deal on the painting and a very thoughtful gesture. Best wishes on the upcoming testing and hopefully the results will be negative.
  22. Dogman pretty much stated exactly what I was going to tell you. You filled her life with love and you will be losing a life partner. But I can tell you one thing, you gave her many more great thoughts and experiences than bad ones. They remember and never forget. My thoughts and prayers are out to you buddy.
  23. Boba, If you are looking for a HEAVY battle rifle, then pick up an FAL. I have two of them and they are heavy. I love both of mine and would not hesitate to grab them in any situation that did not required large amounts of running, climbing, hiking, moving, carrying, shouldering, etc. (you get the idea about the HEAVY part). Both shoot great groups and have never failed me. If you want something that may not shoot as good as the FAL, but still more than capable of taking down anything at extended ranges, then definately go with the Saiga. They are lighter, cheaper and easier to work
