  1. Call up J&G and see if they can do anything for you about those crazy shipping rates over the phone. If you make the call and buy a tin, go to sgammo for crazy rates on shipping and ammo. They've also got some of that brown/silver bear to try out if you're interested.
  2. If you plan on going 6x, you might as well go 8xType this into the search box at Kalinka Optics; GSPOSP842DVPROAKMD or GSPOSP842PROAK If you plan on going 6x, you might as well go 8x. The type of reticle really comes down to preference, but if you know how to use them, I'd go mil-dot; if not, the Russian chevron reticle is easy enough to figure out.
  3. I don't know about the Vepr, but my Mosins love heavy ball; the M39 groups that stuff like a champ. J&G sales sells the heavy ball you're looking at by the 20 along with various types of light ball. Brown/Silver Bear ammunition is also really nice.
  4. Out of curiosity, how many rounds would you think a DMR would need to shoot at 500 yards before needing to reload? I couldn't see shooting more than 5 rounds at a target if I didn't want the barrel to sizzle and groups to open up. The main upset that I have when I look at the 7.62x54r vs .308 is quantity of ammunition vs quality of ammunition. The Vepr is by far the best semi auto 54r currently on the market- if you've got a cache of 7.62x54r already stocked up it makes it even more tempting. If you're looking for "match grade" accuracy- go .308, If you have a ton of 54r or are looking
  5. Wow, can you say power trip? I understand the caution to an extent, but that's a big reaction to respond to a group of people who were breaking no laws. So apparently it's "disorderly conduct" to legally carry in an open carry state while you're wearing camo; maybe it was volunteering for a cancer charity? Concerning the Headline- The police closed the bridge, the bearded guys had nothing to do with it.
  6. K-31; $300 Scope mount- $65 Millet STEEL rings- $30 Decent scope- $200 Listen to Indy, the guy knows his stuff. The K31 is an amazing deal, as are most mil-surps- I'm actually planning to pick another up soon while they're still available. If you're close enough to Miami you can actually head down to Samco to hand pick your rifle and pick up a pallet of match grade ammunition. $595 on your gun and you could spend the rest of your money on military surplus match grade ammunition, or to buy some reloading equipment (which you would need anyway if you're going to get into serious accurac
  7. So apparently Hawaii has a crapload of mongooses but no snakes. That blew my mind.

    1. timy

      timy

I'd be careful when taking a leak outside then.

  8. do a DIY from tactical inc. and learn the gun, you can add parts as you go, and dispurse the cost, start with barrel and trigger or just the barrel, and by the time you are done you will have 2 guns, and not put down as much in one go. Or buy a bolt action CZ .22lr, WAY more accurate then a 10/22 and really cheap CZ is a great option, but if you want to get the most bang out of your buck, you should looking into a Romanian m1969 trainer rifle. Not as accurate as a CZ, but accurate and rugged enough for a $150 dollar mil-surp trainer.
  9. They're very slow in replying and will be more than happy to 'forget' about you if you don't continually remind them that you're not dead. Keep sending emails until they notice.
  10. Probably just a couple hundred under the cost of buying a Vepr, which is built with the RPK receiver and has a heavy barrel..
  11. Look, getting shot sucks whatever way you slice it, and getting shot with a .223 vs a 7.62x39 at close range isn't going to be that different depending on where shot placement is. A shot in the foot or arm is probably not going to kill anyone. The whole advantage of the .223 at closer ranges is the fragmentation- never again will I call it a poodle shooter once I looked at the pics below. They are a bit graphic. http://www.zombiehunters.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=109&t=84194&hilit=look+like+a+poodle&fb_source=message What makes me laugh more than anything is that after th
  12. I must have missed that hunting clause in the second amendment.
  13. The NIH is not the CIA, and you'd think that if he was set out to do this by the government, he'd have been equipped with a bump-fire stock. Also, a bit of information on how the grant works considering that it's doubtful the NIH knew any of the recipients; http://www.latimes.com/news/science/sciencenow/la-sci-sn-the-nih-did-not-give-money-directly-20120724,0,4358097.story?track=rss
  14. The $20K figure has been floating around for a while after the shootings initially went down. I'm kinda tired of seeing it on the news every second of every day only to hear assumption after assumption on this guy, so I haven't been keeping very current on it. People have to realize that he wasn't THAT sophisticated in his bomb tech or what he had on him when he was arrested. He had trip wires, improvised grenades that used gunpower as the primary explosive, along with some tanks of napalm and gasoline to make the fire interesting for the emergency services. None of the hardware used takes a
  15. Well, they say he bought online so he wasnt paying cash. Credit Card/s? He probably wasnt worried about paying it back. I've got 2 cards that total 22K. Thats a lot of ammo/guns/armor. There is hardly anything complex about gunpowder and napalm improvised explosives. The figure of this douche spending 20k on his shooting "supplies" is a gross exaggeration.
  16. Check out primary arms. They've got a few of the stocks. I'd go for the red laminate as opposed to the flashier Russian Red.
  17. Adjusting the elevation and windage knobs usually does the trick for me.
  18. When PSLs were going for $450 for just the rifle a few years ago and $600 with a scope and extra mag, they really did have a dog in this race. Now that their price is pretty close to the Vepr, I'd say drop the extra cash on the far superior firearm that can actually shoot the heavy-ball.
  19. It should be fine as long as you're not using a scotch brite pad.
  20. Google blocking guns but not swords is hysterical to me. Trip Fisk is fuming right now.
  21. It's good to know we have a voice, and as consumers who spend BIG CASH on our weapons leverage. Who really give a fuck if a bunch of hippies don't want to see guns when they google shop for bongs, and rolling trays? Nothing has changed. Google is still a big steaming pile of douche. http://support.google.com/adwordspolicy/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=176077&topic=1626336&path=1316546&ctx=leftnav
  22. Never been a fan of the .357 Sig- It's expensive, not easily commercially available, and penetrates a bit too effectively IMO.
  23. In short, a pissing contest over JT Engineering's AK trigger return/mainspring spring. If claims are correct. P-A believed it was inferior to the factory spring and a waste of money, but apparently he was too vehement and got banned. You had a lot of good info to share man, and I hope you get your account back. A note to members; if the mods say stop X/Y/Z, don't keep doing it.
