Should be fine, replacement pins can be procured if not.

I'm a little confused; how does putting the charging handle on the left side make the MOA of an AK the same as an M4? I think he's referring to how they are taught to keep the firing hand on the grip and manipulate with the left without reaching around or over.

You sure he wasn't thinking about a russian Arsenal?

I have the TLR-2 laser light combo and it is great except the recoil of 12ga will turn it off, so you'd have toe iether hold it on turn it back on. A pressure switch would be a solution. Flawless on handguns in my experience. I am using the TR1 with a pressure switch on the saiga 12 and it has worked flawlessly.

Cool, but wheres your gastube

Some people have put an indicator on the rear tang, like tape, putty, paint, peanutbutter, to see if the carrier is hitting the rear.
-
Thanks razorback, I was kinda afraid of that since Im using the chaos quad with the extended top rail, not the titan, and Im using the 512 so I think I may have problems with shells catching on it if I keep the chaos irons on it. I'd rather not run it over the gas tube only because of weight and heat. Im still hoping someone will say they've run this setup without FTEs

Thanks Echomaker, I actually just put one on somebody else's SGL21 yesterday so I am familiar with how that looks. Anyone have any other thoughts or experiences with Eotechs?
-
Where is it that you've placed your Eotech On AK platforms. I ask cause I see lots of people run them right over the ejection opening and a bunch that run them over the gas tube. I see advantages and disadvantages for both; Over the dust cover could catch spent shells and cause failures, over the gas tube is considerably hotter and puts more forward weight on an already front heavy system. Anyone have issues with either of the potential shortcomings I've suggested or have any other thoughts? Pictures are welcomed and encouraged.

Please do yourself a favor and get an aftermarket plug and just drill the damn things out once correctly to all three at 3/32.
-
go 3/32 on all the holes. I'd even do over the one that fit the 3/32 just to make sure its clear, then before you put the gas block back on, check that nothing is hanging in the ports from the drilling. Were all 3 ports completely uncovered by the gas block, if so then just reinstall the GB, if not file it out so that it would leave you three completely open ports I just wanted to add that most including myself shoot the burs out that hang in the barrel, by shooting small shat after the drilling and reassembly is complete

Side by side photo comparison T-Shark and RJF-Immobilizer
TARE replied to johnboatcat's topic in Saiga-12
Although the RJF seems to be clearly influenced by the shark brake, I do see some changes that seem as though they would offer benefits over the original. Rearward angled top porting, stronger rearward angle to side vents, and longer AOL. Why do we always need to stab things with our muzzle device? Kinda reminds me of "if plan A is to take multiple shots of .338 to the back, then you need to come up with a plan B" -
What's the best solvent to use for cleaning corrosive residue
TARE replied to LocoToro's topic in Saiga 5.45
Forget the fancy pricey options, and forget believing you'll ever just neutralize the salts, you either are going to be using some odd chemicals or just end up diluting or washing it out the same as if you used hot soapy water. Hot water (hotter picks up shit easier) or just plain any water. if you want to get crazy add a small amount of soap or chase with alcohol these will help pick up other fouling. Then just get the thing dry however you choose compressed air, cloth or paper towel if you need. Then use you favorite oil and be done with it. Spend the extra money you'd waste on solvent b -
The accuracy must be attributed to your poison ivy camo scheme

$1219 and 1449 respectively

Do you sell drugs or women? I'm guessing drugs cause no respectable pimp would have that much clutter around their fax machine
-
There are both fixed chokes and screw in adapeters to take standard winchokes available for saigas. Most people seem to use the polychoke. You need to look into this more,it sounds like you are going to spend a bunch of money needlessly.

Another thing you may not be thinking of is that you are not going to be shooting your cheap baseline ammo, you'll likely be loaded with 00 or Slugs. My theory on the autoplug is that typically your HD ammo will be good to go many turns before the cheap birdshot stuff, so the HD or hot ammo has more than enough gas. I do agree with you though about being able to fire unsupported, maybe I'll makes sure cheap shit cycles from the shoulder and that HD ammo shoots reliably from the hip.

Eureka! The Holy Grail of ammo is mine!!!!

Do you think the 8m3 sapsan bullet is more effective than a SP in this cartridge? -
I did similar testing and marking with my saiga12 and the V-plug, it seems like to optimize reliability you'd tune it to shoot with no support, but in doing so you likely have more pressure than needed to fire reliably from a supported position which would in turn increase recoil and wear and perhaps as a response to a Saiga not cycling reliably from the hip the owner would preform unneeded modifications.
