  1. Doing the patch test I came up with 1:11-ish...not exact. Sounds like 1:10 makes sense.
  2. Generally accepted sight in for .223/5.56 is a 50 yard battle zero. Due to the flight path of the .223/5.56, when zero'd at 50 yards your poa and poi are within 2" out to about 200-210 yards. I sight in all my .223/5.56 rifles at 50 yards.
  3. Dunhams in Michigan (and elsewhere, maybe?) has Wolf 55gr HP for 3 boxes for $10. Works out to $166 1K. Not the bext price AT ALL, but what cha gonna do? I shoot the Wolf for training or pplinkling and keep my Q3131 or M193 or other "good" surplus ammo for storage.... Remember Wolf .223 for $100 per 1K? Ahhh memories!
  4. The AMMO ORACLE is a worthwhile read. http://www.ammo-oracle.com/body.htm Cheers!
  5. Fair weather ride.....NEVER in rain! Current daily driver is in the back ground...Honda soccer-mom mini van.....let the wife start driving the STS and she won't give it back!
  6. Thanks for posting. Interested in outcome. I have Saiga 16" conversion and I shoot wolf for training/fun/practice all the time. Never had an issue either. Not what I'd choose for SHTF carry but the cost is very good for general consumption.
  7. Look cool for who? Standing in front of your mirror? Walking around the range? I'd be a lot easier to just print out a picture of a rifle you like and maybe photoshop it onto a pic of you....if looking cool is your main concern. Frankly I'm inclined to say don't buy a firearm if that is your main focus. How about some new threads or a new haircut? How about going to the gym heavy for a few months and get buff? Maybe focus on your education for better job? Just some ideas....
  8. You know I bought my Saiga due to the cost and caliber..I have many ARs and...well lets just say plenty of 223 ammunition unless I have to single handedly hold of the Chinese army..... I got my Saiga converted and I tell ya...that darned thing has become my favorite....it just loooks so tough and mean....PLUS it is a slick shooter. I am continually impressed with my speed with this rifle. If it only loaded as quickly as an AR (drop free mags with one finger, etc..) I would be selling some ARs and getting more Saigas!

    Junk ammo

Not that this is exactly on topic....I had a batch of Federal 55 gr BTHP Gold Medal Match loose their primers..like 4-5 out of 100 rounds during one shooting session a couple years back. I thought this would be "the good stuff" but had some horrendous jams when the primer got into my ARs bolt carrier...even quality amuntition can F up. Anyway, I routinely shoot Wolf with no problems yet... Check out the ammunition section over at AR15.com...they have a tagged thread where people list issues with various brands of ammo....
  10. Do a search on "Orlite" (the manufacturer of the synthetic Galil mags) and you will turn up a bunch of information. The answer to your first question is 'yes' (which is probably why CDNN sold out the $5 used Orlites so fast). The answer to your second question is 'no' (which is probably why CDNN sold out the $5 used Orlites so fast ;>). The new Galil Orlites at $10 a pop are still (IMO) a real bargain... You'll need a bullet guide....DINZAGs is very nice and very affordable...Like $30 or something? Then some simple dremel work (about 20-30 seconds per mag...seriously) and your al
  11. Just sent that link to everyone in my address book! Thanks for the heads up!
  12. Me shooting my Saiga .223 conversion at an ACTS match. actshooters.com
  13. Been meaning to order another 5 or so for awhile...you just gave me the push. Order placed. Thanks for the heads up!
  14. Yes, Michigan recognizes all other states CCW permits. Normal rules apply....no establishments that service alcohol, no schools, no auditoriums that seat more that 2500, etc...standard Michigan laws on CCW permit holders....
  15. Well had a good range day today..the first since the conversion. Shot an ACTS match with my little converted Saiga w/Galil mags. Function was 100%. Fired around 200 rounds - runnin' and gunnin'. This rifle has won my heart! I could not be more pleased with the handling, combat accuracy and functioning. actshooters.com Other than missing a target...as in COMPLETELY over looking it...I shot pretty well, especially when compared to many other shooters with Eo/Aimpoint ARs, some with muzzle brakes and such. I know it is more ther shooter than the rifle (not bragging, just saying
  16. Unless your scope is mounted on the right side of the action, there won't be a problem. Saigas eject violently slightly up and forward, but basically straight to the right. Mine ejects cases 7-10 yards! Now THATS positive extraction!
  17. Orlites only require a slight dremel grinding. About 30-50 seconds on each mag. VERY simple. Plus the Galil mags are designed for .223/5.56. 'Course you need the bullet guide, but I'd imagine the Galil orlite are the route to go while they're cheap...relatively speaking....$10 each at CDNN. In fact think I'll go order another five....why not!
  18. My Saiga in use....ACTS match. actshooters.com Converted by DINZAG! ACE Ltd side folder w/internal mechanism (JUST CUT THE TANG!!) Tapco SAW grip Galil 35 rd mags DINZAG bullet guide .....and the sweetest AK trigger you will ever feel!
  19. Dude....the search button is your friend. Not to be a smart ass...but thats the most talked about topic here.... You need a bullet guide....
  20. Not help on those but have you installed a guide? If so have you tried Galil mags? $10 each at CDNN and they modify VERY easily.....02$.
  21. While Im a bit prejudice towards Saigas (I love mine...almost as much as my ARs...don't let those fussy, overly-emotional ARs hear that!) the Saiga is one hell of a weapon. Its no joke...especially when you look at the value performance vs cost. It is awesome.
  22. Other than the moments hesitation when holding the hack saw to the rear tang...aww GO FOR IT I says! The sawing began. The install was a snap. Internal block fit like a glove and feels ROCK SOLID. I do plan to go back and remove and put loc-tite on threads. Initial install was just to try out, do a little informal shooting and get a feel for it. I'm VERY pleased.
  23. No doubt. Im in the LEO community and I have not problem with class III stuff in good peoples hands. Looks like the suppressor issue will be resolved very soon. Already looking into my first can!
  24. Rifles/shotguns over 30 inches complete and a barrel of 16" or more, enjoy. Own as many as you like...no issues. Rifle under 30" but more than 26" AND with a barrel of atleast 16" it is legal provided you register it as a pistol with your local PD or sheriff dept. Go figure. Rifle under 26" overall length OR over 26" with a barrel under 16" and you got yourself an SBR(short barrel rifle) and its a no no in Michigan currently.
