  1. It shouldn't have happened to 7N6 either. Under the 7N6 jacket is a core made of steel AND lead. In order to be armor piercing under law, the statute requires the core be comprised ENTIRELY of a combination of steel, tungsten, bronze, beryllium copper and/or depleted uranium. Lead ain't on the list, so by law, if it has lead in the core, it's not armor piercing ammo. Georgia Carry did a hell of a write up about the AP issue. It's at: http://gunssavelives.net/blog/gun-laws/georgia-gun-rights-group-tears-apart-atfs-proposed-m855-ban-with-their-comments/
  2. I can't help but see a tie-in between this situation and the thread about "gun ownership declining," http://forum.saiga-12.com/index.php?/topic/96683-gun-ownership-declining/ My family has always kept its mouth shut so we don't make ourselves a target. Like they say, information is power, and we don't want to give any info/power to the scumbags. What we have is nobody's f'in business! It's like carrying concealed...be plain vanilla.
  3. ATF will bring this back. Maybe soon, maybe later, and maybe in a modified form, but they'll keep chipping away at 2A.
  4. My family does not discuss our assets with anyone except family, close friends, and our insurance agent. Firearms, artwork, jewelry, nothing. Especially strangers. We don't need to set ourselves up for a home invasion. If we were called for this survey, we'd be wrongly counted as an unarmed household.
  5. Our current Constitution came out of a convention that met to make improvements to the Articles of Confederation. One set of intentions going in, a whole different result coming out. These things take on a life of their own. Anyway, other than, for example, adding phrases like "we're not kidding about this," exactly what could have been written to make politicians and citizens take it seriously?
  6. The message will be loud and clear when supplies now in the hands of retailers in US are finally sold off. Those who bought it will hoard it, shoot it, or a combination of both. Then track prices on Gunbroker. It's only a matter of time. Remember how 7N6 has gone up since ATF acted?
  7. You may get some sort of feel for things by cruising the websites of local gun stores in those states and seeing what they're selling.

I'm looking forward to your range report. I picked up a couple of the parts kits when they first came out but never installed them. I hope it functions reliably!
  9. It's a Saiga. Shoot so many rounds through it that you can't tell the new wear and tear from the old!
  10. har, hold my beer and watch this He probably knows where his teeth landed, and has no idea where his bullet landed.
  11. OK, maybe the list is out of order, but it might at least give us an idea of the size of the universe. I can't recall my pop's serial number or date, but he got his glass bolt back a few months ago.
  12. After removing the pins, If you had trouble getting the gas block off like I did and were concerned about getting the block back on, I heated the gas block in the oven at about 300 degrees to expand it. It dropped right over the cool barrel.
  13. Yes GunFun, do tell. I've got a couple of autoplugs and there is a large range of distances that hulls are thrown just among various 2 3/4" loads. Have you improved consistency, and/or added magnums to its capability, or what?
  14. I've see posts where owners of 24" guns were asking advice on cutting them down to 19" then threading the barrel. Maybe the OP can stumble across one of these folks.
  15. 2 nanograms may get you booted from the military, but they're interested in whether you use pot ANYTIME. Coroner is interested in THC concentration at the time of death, not for determining if Ward smoked pot ever, but to see if he had enough in his system at race time to affect his judgment.
  16. I've had the privilege of talking with vets from WWI on up, and working on their behalf to get them the recognition they deserve. Two meetings stand out, and still choke me up. The first was about 25 years ago, when I had two conversations of about half an hour each with WWI vet Winston Roche. Hearing him talk about being gassed in the Great War was something. At the time, he enjoyed his Corvette a bit too much! I can't believe they are all gone now. The second occurred at Atlanta's Hartsfield International. I was early for my flight and grabbed a seat at a vacant gate. Eventually, a depa
  17. Is it time to refresh the list on the first post on this thread? http://forum.saiga-12.com/index.php?/topic/91442-what-happened/ It appears a lot has happened in the last several months. Parts are being completed and shipped, and IIRC, all other parts may be safe, and not lost, seized, or trashed.
  18. Will Texans even permit you to bring in items from the Peoples Republic of Marylandistan?! No doubt they have a taint about 'em.
  19. I've have excellent results with the Enidine Shot Shock on my S12's. It attaches like an AR15/M4 buffer tube, so you'll need to adapt it. While it is no longer available under this name, (ITT/Enidine got out of the business after Newtown) there is now the Crosshair Hydraulic Recoil Stock Tube, which appears to be exactly the same thing. On my 870, I originally had a 1st gen Blackhawk/Knoxx SpecOps recoil reducing adjustable stock, but it didn't do much for me. I ponied up big bucks for the Mesa unit, which adapts an Enidine Shot Shock to the 870. It is phenomenal! I can shoot 3" mags all
  20. Mike, this looks really exciting! I like the idea of double stacks in 5 and 8 single stack lengths. Also, as a lover of your 20 round drums (I bought 6 to keep on the boat for defense when we go to FLA and Caribbean waters), I'd really love to see 25 round double stacks. More compact storage for the same quantity of ammo, and fewer mag changes.
  21. AK, you're off to a great start. And since you started down that road, you gonna be near Portland, Oregon in the near future? Maybe you can look up someone for a bunch of us...
