  1. Under certain circumstances, you'd have to fill out a 4473 to get them back. Might get expensive, depending upon locality.
  2. You've got two hips. One thing the Yankees got right is the "New York reload". Watch your six.

Since when is a brand new converted Saiga over priced at $500? Damn! I gotta get outta Kali. A leopard can't change his spots. Arsenal had creditors on their back last year, and decided that quantity sales at lower prices would bring in the needed monies. The "$500 Arsenal sale" did not last long at all.
  4. Here we go: 1) The vast majority of gun owners do not interact on discussion boards. 2) The vast majority of satisfied product owners who do interact on discussion boards do not trumpet the fact that their product works as advertised. 3) This leaves the folks who are dis-satisifed who post up horrific stories. Many of these users post under different user names on different forums, thereby "compounding" these horrific stories to the ignorant. 4) "Tailgate Tom" (who hates whatever product is under discussion) continually points at these horrific stories for years after the fact, thereby
  5. Your best modification is to throw the BHO away and weld up the slot. It's only present to satisfy a political expectation of "sporting", and as most things politically motivated, doesn't work very well.
  6. That proves it's out of spec.
  7. You're joking, right? This is a joke thread?
  8. He's pulling your leg. All new AKs hang up as described. It's the brand new FCG in them that does it. Cleaning won't fix it. There's only two things that will: 1) Shooting it. Several hundred rounds down range will break in the FCG. 2) Running it like a man. So many of these "it hangs up!" problems are due to folks babying their AKs. Pull the charging handle all the way to the rear and let it fly!
  9. Not all the Hunters had this treatment (if any - this is the first I've ever seen this mentioned). Are you sure you're not confusing the 3 holes for the scope mount? My Type 1 Hunter doesn't have any screws (or holes) in the mag area. // threadjack ends
  10. You are more likely to lose a part than to break one.
  11. They do make brakes with 14x1LH thread pitch. Some are very good, but they're not AK74 pattern brakes. The ~$20 "AK74 style" brakes in 14x1LH are smelly POS' - stay away from them if you expect military AK74 brake functionality.
  12. K-Var is quite proud of their chrome-lined US-made brakes.
  13. It's kind of self-correcting. If it's not a 24mm threaded brake, it's one of the sh***y ones. While not all the 24mm US made brakes are "authentic", they're damned sure closer to it than the cheapy 14mmxLH ones.

Overpriced and overhyped. Patience will reward you with more money in your pocket.
  15. I never knew that. I thought you had to drill them first. I believe Max is referring to the cold chisel + punch method. If you just punch them without rolling up the shoulders first with the cold chisel, you'll bend your receiver.
  16. No. Do not use a drill during a conversion, except for installing a bullet guide. Watch the video: Saiga conversion
  17. Right. Do you realize how much force it would take to do that to an AK? It's not as if it's a precision rifle in the first place. To the OP: Whatever floats your boat - it won't hurt anything.
  18. How many times does this have to be asked and answered? Jeez-o-pete. Gas tubes do nothing but guide the gas piston. Want proof? Take your gas tubes off and go shoot your guns (you won't hurt anything). You'll figure it out. So why are some made with holes and some aren't? In my experience the vent holes serve more to keep the action clean. Venting the gas up at the gas block means it doesn't vent out under your rear sight. Debris is deposited up into the air and around the gas block/tube area instead of underneath the rear sight and into the receive
  19. Windex with ammonia? or just plain windex? Windex (regular or ammoniated) is not known for it's cosmoline-cutting abilities. It was perhaps the only cleaning agent SirROFL had at hand, which he used in conjunction with copious amounts of elbow grease. I think your right. form what ive read the thing people use windex on is after firing corrosive ammo and spraying it down the barrel to neutralize the corrosive (salts?) It is the dihydrogen monoxide content of Windex (and the convenient spray bottle) that is the reason Windex is oft named for this use.
  20. You mean Tom's illegitimate brother? It wouldn't be so ridiculous, if HIS NAME WASN'T IN THE IMFDB LINK YOU POSTED.

  22. You are blessed. No grinding of FCGs (and teeth) with this one!
