  1. Saiga 30 round mags OR "Surefire" mags (East Bloc Mags modified and refinished to feed in a Saiga)
  2. Great addition to the for sale forums. GJ man.
  3. Nothing wrong there. I have alot of repect for those who decide to thumb their noses at 922R. As long as it is an "informed decision". My pet peave is when dealers sell that surefire mag along with a rifle and don't bother informing the buyer about 922R. When you decide to put a bullet guide in your rifle so that 30 round mag will feed, I recommend Dinzag's bullet guides. Since you are getting a regular AK as well, I would suggest not modding each individual magazine to fit your Saiga. Rather, I would just file down the mag catch on your Saiga rifle. That way you can use the same mags wi
  4. I got some today and they work great! Groovy, what mag(s) did you try it in?
  5. yes, dug that crap out of there.....one hole was occupied by a dead maggot of some sort, reeked like rotten feet the second i dug it open.....nasty...but clean now. ! WTF? I am almost afraid to ask, but what's the back story? Dirt dobber nest and maggots?
  6. My guess is that it is not converted for use with high caps mags. My guess is that the dealer sold him a "Surefire" 30 round mag to go with it. I'm guessing the dealer didn't explain 922R either.
  7. Good looking conversion there! Nothing like firing a converted Saiga for the first time and having the satisfaction that you gutted an AK, rebuilt it, and it functions flawlessly. And so the addiction begins........
  8. sorry, somebody else already has first dibs on it. --John If you posted the ad here and he was the FIRST to send a PM and post "PM SENT" then how does somebody else have first dibs on it?
  9. Too far back. If your going to install a new FCG, this setup won't work for you. You could still canabalize pieces off of it though.
  10. What are we looking at for one, ballpark?
  11. --> QUOTE(G O B @ Mar 17 2007, 07:18 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> The 7.62-54R is so close to a .308 ballistically that scope drop compensators will work for either one. I want one to go with the Mosins. Please correct my ignorance. I was under the impression that 7.62x54R had alot more powder behind it and alot more kick than the 308. Am I mistaken?
  12. Just to clarify, I mean that the retainer PLATE is the easiest to install and field strip later. it costs about $11 bucks but IMHO is worth every penny.
  13. That is correct. Less work to put the single hook in.
  14. It is much easier to use than the wire retainer. Also, it makes field stripping the FCG simple, not that you would need to field strip the FCG.....unless you were a WOLVERINE!!!!!!!!!!
  15. I emailed them and they said no.
  16. Instead of grinding down the mag catch on all the magazines, file down the mag catch on your rifle. My Saiga 7.62x39 takes any AK mag without any modification.
  17. Whether any of these ideas to fix them work or not, thanks for the post. You saved me some hard earned dough!
  18. The 30 round mags in that link are manufactured by a company called "Surefire" not to be confused with the company of the same name that makes flashlights. They take Eastern Bloc 30 round mags and file down the mag catch, weld on a feed ramp, and then refinish the whole magazine. 922R aside, in my personal experience they function great and they feed flawlessly. That is also a decent price on them in your link (if the shipping prices are decent).
  19. Well when you refered to using US mags, I figured you meant US made 30 round mags since there are no 10 round US made mags. If you are using US made 30 round mags, then you are still 1 part shy. If you want the bullet guide just so you c an use cheaper foreign made 10 round mags, I guess you would be ok. But if you filed down the mag catch on your rifle, I wouldn't have any 30 round mags "just laying around".
  20. Done and passed it around to another forum. You guys should do the same!
  21. Nope, you are still 1 part shy, and violate 922R.
  22. Mine won't, but I lack experience. Still, others here report consistant 4 MOA with x39 Saigas. 3 inch groups sound great, but is this consistant? Thoughts?
  23. .308 If you plan on doing a pistol grip conversion, in most cases the .308 is easier. There is also a better chance that there is a PG nut hole cut already, I haven't heard of a Saiga .308 that hasn't had it cut. The easiest trigger to install in it is the RSA adjustable, and it cost 3 times more than the standard Tapco g2. You are limited to 20 round mags and they cost $45 each before shipping. There is a modification you can make to the factory 8 round mags to make them 10 rounders. Most of the low price surplus 308 ammo has dried up for now, so you are difinately going to pay more for ammo
  24. I love those magpul stock, wish I could afford one!
