22_Shooter 1,560
I used to...... ....and.... ......at my job back in NY. Now, I <insert picture of a guy looking for a job> since I moved to SC. Luckily, I stashed away enough money to cover this down-time. The one gun I bought here since I moved (Glock 23) was partially funded by trading in a Saiga 7.62x39. VERY different professions. Blow out your knee, and get it repaired, you won't find me massaging shit. The guy in the photo is stretching the guy on the mat's hamstrings. Vultite 57
For the toys and extra stuff I just pick up an extra shift, plenty of us are burned out so there are always open shifts or people begging to take off. So I picked it up and profit I can't really post up any of the pics of me actually doing it for work reasons, but it's the same outfit...

Vultite 57
Thanks man I bet you have to have patience of a saint to be a PT. My particular field and division has a 3% retention rate, and out of my hiring group I'm one of 3 guys left, and I'll be leaving soon as I'm done with my degrees. Guys who make a career out of this in Florida are just nuts, but we need them...I won't explain why it's bad, but it's BAD.

Blow out your knee, and get it repaired, you won't find me massaging shit. The guy in the photo is stretching the guy on the mat's hamstrings. My cervical spine specialist P.T. was AMAZING with massage. She could fix my neck with her bare hands when oxycodone & diazapam couldn't. She was more effective than a chiropractor & a neurologist combined. She took the skill of massage to a whole new level compared to a regular massage therapist. I still want to marry that girl. BTW.... Does it get confusing when you're charting? You're a P.T. working with Pt.s .... Ever get them mixed up in text?

You should marry that girl! PT's are some of the most compassionate, and thoughtful people. The c-spine responds well to soft tissue work as does the L-spine. To be sure, many of us have training in massage, or its more clinical cousin, STM (soft-tissue mobilization). Some even have a clinical specialty in it. Personally I have no problem with it, but with my current patient population (seniors and neuro patients), it is something that if overused, can be abused and decrease desired outcomes. Most people have little to no real experience with physical discomfort or chronic pain. Often they are not willing to do the tough, uncomfortable work to reach their stated goals, and would rather ask for the "feel good" stuff. Similar to drug-seeking behavior, I'd imagine. Massage is just one tool of many in a pain-management program, or to improve mobility. Its just not the first tool I reach for. I come from an exercise-based background (kinesiology) so much of what I do revolves around that. I personally love rehabbing the knee, with stroke rehab running a close second. Does it get confusing when you're charting? You're a P.T. working with Pt.s .... Ever get them mixed up in text? LOL! Sometimes, but not if you're doing it right. @Vultite: Thanks for the kind words man. Its not a line of work for everybody. You do have to like working around people, be organized to a fault, and have the patience of Job. You get to play motivator, coach, teacher, counselor, drill sergeant, and advocate all in the same day. Easy to get burned out, if you don't have an outlet.
