  1. The host says it's a distant ancestor of the computer, but it strikes me as more of an offshoot of the printing press. Still, it is supremely sublime. Even the noise it was making in the video testified to its precise complexity. That it's a doll is a bit creepy. Evidently the Uncanny Valley is in the Swiss Alps.
  2. Hey, no stone-throwing from me. I had an accident caused by my own negligence a while back. Fortunately no one was hurt as I wasn't doing anything crazy dangerous, but the memory serves to remind me that anytime I'm dealing with guns I am doing something at least a little bit dangerous.
  3. AIM has Wolf Gold (which I think is still Prvi Partizan) .223 Remington 55gr for $7.95 a box. It'd be nice if they gave a bulk quantity break, but that's still pretty good.
  4. Weird! I guess it happens to all of us without us even thinking about it, but it's unusual to see a physical manifestation of the process.
  5. M1 thumb is John C.'s way of telling you that you're doing it wrong! Let us know if you get any POI shift when using the bipod. Saiga barrels are pretty thick, but I would think it might change the impacts a bit. I used a shorter version of that bipod on my .308 Saiga, but I stripped the rail adapter and mounted it to the receiver. Which is not to say that it will increase accuracy, but I haven't noticed any detriment to it compared to sand bags. Of course, accuracy was never my rifle's strong suit anyway.
  6. Good thing it's licensed. I'd hate to think it's a knock-off Glockov.
  7. Amazing! I thought him speed shooting his M1 would be the coolest thing I'd see on his channel, but I stand corrected.
  8. By making the tolerances closer, the way they fit while in battery should be more consistent shot to shot, potentially increasing accuracy but also decreasing debris-related reliability. That's the theory behind it, anyway. I don't know about FNs, but match barrels for Glocks and XDs usually have to be fitted at the top, front edge of the chamber area and the bottom of the feed ramp.
  9. Pretty amazing! I don't have any special desire to climb a mountain, let alone at record speed, but I imagine it must be exhilarating to get up there and be up there, however briefly.
  10. I'd blame rushing a product to market, but I think the single stack XDs took a while to come out compared to when regular XDs did.
  11. Dino apocalypse is far cooler than a zombie apocalypse.
  12. Getting the rivet gun in there straight was the worst part on my .223 Saiga.
  13. If Joel Schumacher didn't kill Batman, I'd believe he can't be killed.
  14. It could be a bad thing, but, at the same time, actually liking the character and having some idea of who he is and what motivates him could ultimately be beneficial. But you are right in that if he's wrong about who the character is, it'll be hard for that not to come across in his performance. I don't know if Bale, as good as he was compared to some...other actors, got the same gist of the character that I did, but I was never a comic book guy, more of a DCAU guy.
  15. On the base portion, the set screws are basically set-and-forget. I replaced the set screws that affix the rail to the base with slotted thumbscrews in case I need to remove it in a hurry and don't have an Allen wrench.
  16. Definitely don't forget about female customers. I think it's safe to say most of your business will be men, but I have noticed a marked increase in women at gun stores, including women not apparently being dragged along by their husbands/boyfriends. Having a ladies' section could be helpful, especially where it comes to carry gear, but I'd eschew demarcating the guns like that. From a business standpoint, you don't want potential customers to feel constrained to one area of the store. Sales staff can do wonders for your business' reputation as well, especially with turning first-time buyers
  17. A Scout Scopes mount would probably be my choice for this application. The Samson rear sight rail could do the trick as well. I have one of each of those mounts, both with micro red dots, and the height above bore is almost identical. I'm a bit leery of the Samson mount's design. Despite being made of steel compared to the Scout Scope's aluminum, the Samson RSR has some fairly thin sections that would be subjected to the clamping stress of whatever optic is being mounted. So far it's been a non-issue, but time will tell.
