  1. Make sure you check your states mag limits for large game, some states limit you to five round mags, other jurisdictions no more than 3 in the gun, just like for duck hunting, thats why you see 2 round saiga mags for sale. A game warden won't like a mag fed shotgun in any case, don't give them an easy bust. I hunted in PA with an AR converted to single shot by welding shut the gas key on the bolt, and you should have seen the looks of hate that I got from the 30/30 crowd.
  2. I had a phone interview to get my FFL renewed during the Clinton years. The guy had one question. "Do you sell a lot of assault rifles?" I asked, what is an assault rifle. "You know, SKS's, AK-47's" I said of course I sold SKS's, they were the most popular rifle sold in the USA for years. "But do you SPECIALIZE in selling assault rifles". I sell whatever my customers want to buy. "Well, you sound like one of the good guys, I'll put your license through for approval." Under "W", I called them. Hi, its almost the end of February and my new license has n
  3. This was in my most recent issue of "American Firearms Industry", a very conservative, pro brick and mortar gun dealer magazine. When I say conservative, I mean, that its not a trade magazine that caters to "Evil" guns. So, its exposing a lot of dealers to a potential customer, IE, Saiga Owners. I have always considered Saiga owners almost a cult, lusting after a somewhat niche item, this shows me that FFL's may start to realize that money can be made off of us, which, ultimately means more sales, and the demand for more saigas, and their accessories. I am not making any claims
  4. Too bad brother. We had a case here in PA, where the county sheriff would not sign the paperwork for two residents, even though they had no prohibitions not to have them, and there are no local laws that would prevent it. Bottom line, they sued, and lost. The basis was, that just being a public official, did not mean that he was required to sign off on paperwork for a machine gun transfer, if he did not want to, for any reason. Now, I could see suing based on an interruption of interstate commerce, denying you your right to own, and conduct business across state lines, in feder
  5. Caveat Emptor. And wait for ones that work.
  6. Just do as you are thinking, and add one more US part to be safe, Gas puck/piston, 25 bucks, or a US made thread protector, its what I did, and I am more than happy with the results. And, don't forget a russian Dragunov stock for the Saiga either, its ergonomics are terrible, but, its far better than the factory stock, although, It will not add one us part to the count, and as far as I understand, it doesn't make it non sporting, IE, no protruding pistol grip, its attached to the stock. Just don't post a picture of your Saiga here, with the Ace folder on it, or you will automatically b
  7. In PA, the use of non lethal weapons, or lethal weapons are both considered "Offensive weapons" unless used in a circumstance where you are in imminent bodily harm, and have already attempted to flee, if possible. Meaning, that if the circumstances merit using ANY weapon, it makes no difference whether the force is lethal or not. We have no "castle doctrine" unlike Florida and some other states. Gonna mace that car jacker, you may as well shoot him in the face with your Judge and birdshot. While it may be easier to carry a non lethal item, you are not allowed to use it for non
  8. With the difficulties most europeans have even to own a gun, its not surprising they are paying more for any other accessory or ammo. But, as stated above, thats what socialism gets you. Also, I thought only EU countries were made to pay the VAT tax, IE, if it goes to the US, they don't collect it. It would be like them trying to collect our sales taxes for our states.
  9. Out of curiosity, how do you test the difference between a high temp silver solder, and a low temp, unless you test it via heating, possibly damaging the finish? Wouldn't a blind pin be easier and more permanent? If the muzzle device was aluminum, like some of the fake cans are, you would have no other choice. Welds are visible, a blind pin usually leaves some evidence of a weld, but a silver solder could be mistaken for nothing or just loctite. Just my fears of putting the gun into a potentially oppressive ATF tech. "Hey, while its here, lets try some of that soft primered ammo,
  10. Loctite can be destroyed with heat, 400 degrees or so for the red, and silver soldering can be melted. Permanent, usually means welded, or pinned and welded in the case of fake cans where you don't want visible welds. Also, why wouldn't this dealer let you look inside? I have field stripped old Garands for a look see many times. Frankly, I would ask them first if they are compliant, if they play dumb, offer to check for them, if they claim they are compliant and you get home, you have at least a bona fide reason to return the firearm, or, a case to take to the po po, or the BAT

    If Obama....

You could register them for free, any future transfers, will involve someone paying the appropriate tax. As with any other type of "classified" gun, other than dealer samples, you can also leave it to your heirs, without paying any more taxes. These are not fee's, they are a tax, and the dealer who transfers them, is called a "SOT", special occupational taxpayer". And, if they decide to revoke the sporting status, it could apply to all saiga's, the fact that you can insert a 20 round drum into a sporting shotgun could be reason enough for an oppressive agency, which will answer to
  12. Can't say about worldwide, but, I have always considered pre ban Chinese imports, to be as close to a military AK as you can get, built on real military machinery with prison and slave labor. How oppressive is that? Not even Capitalism comes into the picture, just an oppressive communist run country, with all of Norinco's profits going straight back to the Army, to build better weapons. And they say the Chinese aren't as smart as Americans.
  13. The problem is one thats so often heard, I just don't have the time, and I would rather pay than botch it myself, and the good looking finish is important, because I hand picked the kits, and they are the best I could find, and the intent is to put a couple away for investment purposes. I have plenty of shooters. One of the underfolders is a polish factory parkerize, my importer told me that he brought around 10K kits into his warehouse, and that less than 200 were parked, his thoughts were that it was a batch that was more or a less a test run, for alternative finishes, than for issue ri
  14. Listen to Sharps, he gave you all the advice I would have. I have been casting balls, and sinkers, since I was a kid. I grew up in a shop, and had access to everything I needed, my Grandfather used to cast bearings in place at the steel mill he worked in, so big old steel pots, and ladles were handy. Throw in an old propane burner with a cast iron pot holding top, and it was all in front of me. Plus the local Water Authority was always pulling old lead water pipes out of the ground, and if you knew someone, you could get them and melt them down, for free, lead was worth nothing
  15. I get most of mine, through a Barnaul Importer, Dan's Sporting Goods, who is associated with Pac West Arms, and the last 500 about 2 months ago, cost me just under 100 bucks, and that was a dealer price. If they are dumping the stuff at that price, either they have very good contracts in Russia, or they are selling at a loss, or getting out of the market and clearing out old stock. None of them in PA I assume, I have never even heard of them. Too bad.
  16. As I have seen advised elsewhere, either you have the receipt, or some proof they are preban, say, AR 15 mags, that were manufactured by a company that went out of business prior to the ban, or are historically provable, say, a magazine that has been out of production for a long period of time, MP 40, or early slab side AK mags as examples. You can be charged, your mags can be seized, and you can be tried, if thats what the cops and the DA really want to do, can they prove your mag IS NOT preban, I don't know, but you may be paying a lawyer before its all said and done. Another example
  17. http://new.wavlist.com/soundfx/014/cricket-2.wav Seeing that most of the serious vendors out there treat internet forum posts mostly as the garbage they are, just like your troll post above, I highly doubt it. If you have something to contribute, please do so, but take your off topic comments, and stuff them. It seems to me, that anyone ready to pony up nearly 2 grand in builds, is going to get some attention. I do know, that other builders I have heard from said that they are experiencing high demand because of the fear of Obama and the resurrection of the Assault Weapons B
  18. Vector from Utah appears to be having issues, they did a beautiful build for my brother, but I heard they were not honoring warranties now. I have purchase a few Welco Arms Items from Gunbroker, but they haven't returned my inquiries. I am primarily looking for a professional, as one kit is going to need reparkerised, and they would need to supply fully heat treated receivers and US parts. Anybody got recommendations ?
  19. Wow! Where can I get a box of those!? Dip your own flechettes in poo, its what the VC did on their Punji Sticks, to cause infections on top of the wounds. I don't however thing they would be much fun to handle when you are trying to load them into a shell though...
  20. Just a heads up, I cut the followers to gen 2 specs on mine, and even afterwards, they still deformed the top round so badly after insertion, I was afraid it wouldn't feed. So, I am leaving the others alone, and just using the BHO while inserting the mag, and then loading the others with 9 rounds, if I feel the need to load a full mag on a closed bolt.
  21. Flechettes were originally thought to be advantageous in a dense jungle environment, meaning they would pierce the vegetation, and continue on to the target. I don't believe that ever was proved to be the truth after use. What I have read, is that Doctors who were treating patients that were shot with them, found them to "Inhumane" because they made a very small entrance wound, unlike a gun shot, and sometimes the entry points couldn't even be found, or ID'd as a wound. Then, upon entry, the flechette had a tendency to bend, and become very unstable, with reports of them hitting th
  22. First, before you even start, get a set of "How to" books, mine were all Lincoln Electric, and Linde, and they used to even give you them for free, if not, check your library, or even your local Vo tech may have a set you can use. Study the basic techniques for stick welding, and practice them, it will give you the skills needed to master the other types. Mig welding is easy, I could teach a monkey to mig weld, thats why it has become so prominent in the industry, a fast learning curve, if you can't master it, find a real welder. Thats not an insult, but if you can't handle a Mig,
  23. All my chinese, and some were new in the bag, came in well oiled but not greased, it would be a royal bitch to clean it out of the nooks and crannies. My wife said years ago, "You paid Ninety dollars for that" referring to the 100 round chinee drum, yeah, I know, should have bought a dozen, however, the 100's weren't easy to come by even back then.

I have used only Wolf FMJ 148 Grain in mine, accuracy is about sub 3" at 200 yards. Trigger pull is fine for me, I have no need for aftermarked parts, though I did upgrade this to the 8x scope. One thing mine does, as most other forums have noted, is to string the shots vertically as the barrel gets hot, mine tend to string high. One solution that has been suggested, is that they sling is intended to be used as a stablizer, IE, with your arm wrapped through it, and pulled snug, military style, rather than off a bipod or a rest. I also bought a spare stock and cut finger grooves in
