  1. Glad it was that simple! Loading on a closed bolt is also pretty simple. Once you get the hang of it, you can rock 5 rounders in on a closed bolt in a second or so. Insert loaded mag, tilted only about half as far as you would if the bolt were open. When the plastic hull comes in contact with the bolt, push hard to depress the shells and magazine follower. As you push in, tilt the mag to catch the lip inside the gun like normal, then rock it back into place. Ok, that description was God-awful... Hopefully you got the idea though. Or you can send your gun out to one of the site's vendors who
  2. Ah, I see what you're saying now. Hmm... I'm not really sure about reprinting an existing number. The ATF has defined the purpose of said number as, "Allowing the firearm to be traced from the original manufacturer, through any additional manufacturing processes, through various distributors, to the first private sale." I know it's a felony for anyone to knowingly transfer a firearm without a serial number (for the tracking purposes) to another individual. I always thought that the "firearm" part of an AK was the front trunion, as this is the serialized part. That did seem rather odd, though.
  3. If you are "riding the bolt home," this is normal. The bolt should be pulled all the way back and released freely and quickly to allow as much force as the return springs can exert on the locking lugs of the bolt to return the action to battery. If you are doing this and it still hangs up, you do indeed have a problem- only a minor one though. After skimming through your other thread, it seems that you may either be riding the bolt or not putting enough ass behind the gun. These things get finicky if they don't have a solid mass firmly behind them. (Insert "your mom" joke here) Watch a sl
  4. I have a Facebook account and use it regularly to post pro-2A articles and keep up with friends I otherwise wouldn't talk to. The former has drawn negative attention to me in the past, but I am always careful not to say anything that "crosses the line" between offensive and illegal or suspicious. I don't go out of my way to avoid offending the couple of more liberal "friends" on my list. This IS the internet, afterall... If you took away all the offensive content and the porn, there'd be about two websites left- One of which would be, "Bring Back the Porn." Through Facebook, I have t
  5. No you aren't. A friend of mine was on a gun buying binge and ended getting the Mosquito and P22 at the same time. The Mosquito didn't run as well as the P22, on the same ammos. He sold the Mosquito off and some time later got in a tight and I got P22 from him. I have 3 of them now. I have ran CCI ammo in them that was purchased in '78, '79, and '80, as well as various brands of currently manufactured ammo. The only thing that mine do not like very well is the Remington bulk. I'm not sure if I got a bad batch of ammo, but it was old and the projectiles in this stuff would easily spin and move
  6. Hmm.. Looks like I have to be the odd man out. I've owned both- I still have the P22. I traded the Mosquito off and haven't looked back. There's really nothing wrong with either of them, but I love my P22.

  8. First thing yesterday morning, I went to the local grocery store. Not a Hostess product in sight. Went on a "twinkie hunt" this afternoon, still no luck. Damn you, Little Debbie and your stupid "Cloud Cakes!" It's not the same, damnit!!! The twinkie is the edible equivalent of Avtomat Kalashnikova: When absolutely, positively every motherfucker in the room must have high blood sugar. Accept no substitutes. -sniff- Farewell, sweet golden deliciousness. -sniff-
  9. Ah, another Halloween is almost over. The one day of the year where it's socially acceptable for women to dress like whores and the least likely day to get in trouble for having a dead body on your doorstep. As today draws to a close, I look forward to my favorite holiday tomorrow: Dia de los Muertos. For those few of you who don't know, Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) is a holiday primarily celebrated in Mexico. Traditionally, families gather at the graves of their loved-ones to pray for them and celebrate their lives. I can't make it to any cemeteries tomorrow, but my loved-
  10. Speedglass, FTW!! I've used the harbor freight one and it'll do for a backup, but I'm spoiled.
  11. I know it's been done before (a lot) but I'm a big fan of the biohazard symbol. I picked up these takedown pins because it's a little more unique than OEM, but not over-the-top. I think as long as you keep it pretty simple, it's nice to have your own little touch (even if it's someone else's work.)
  12. Ah, I forgot a good one! My mother, God bless her, can be a bit paranoid. A few years ago, I moved back in with my folks to save some money and get a new start. One night, my mom (who worked 2nd shift at a hospital over 20 miles away) came home around 2AM freaked the hell out. "I saw it again." "Saw what, mom?" "I don't know exactly what it is, but bright lights in the sky followed me almost all the way home." According to her, she had seen bright, hovering lights several times before in the same area. She would roll the windows down on a road with no traffic, yet hear nothing but the wind
  13. Never believed in ghosts. Angels and demons, sure- not ghosts. I moved into a house that an elderly hillbilly had passed away in. I say "hillbilly" because of the ridiculous shit I found on the property. Live ammo buried next to a tree stump (found with a pickaxe- did not make me happy) backasswards wiring, cardboard for insulation, etc. I got so fed-up with this crap, I named him "Cletus" and would bitch him out every time something new came up. One night, after some more wiring issues and a bitch-fest, I gave up and decided to play some video games. I turned off the lights, sat down
  14. While I have lost many loved ones, I have never had to deal with this level of pain. It shows true strength of character that you guys can talk about it and help others through it. My heart goes out to all of you. I know this is true. I suffered a loss this spring and, while trivial in comparison, it affected me in much the same way. By April, I was down to 110lbs. Didn't want to eat, sleep, clean, or even speak. I owe my friends and family dearly for helping me through it. My father most of all. Stay strong guys, you'll be in my prayers.
  15. Bummer. Similar to my case then. I work in a factory but our machine shop is in a different building and we outsource our sandblasting. I can cut and weld all I want, but not properly refinish and I don't trust any of these hilljacks around here to do it for me. As far as stocks go.. I'm a fan of ACE stocks and a tiny guy. The 7.5" with a folder ( +1") is perfect for me. I believe they make up to a 9.5", but it's been awhile since I looked. My guess would be that your longest option would be an AR style stock. As far as what to look for.. Don't cheap out on this part. Tapco was the che
  16. Well if you're like me, you don't have a lot of cash but you do have plenty of tools and workspace. If that's the case, you can re-use the trigger guard. It is truly a pain, but it's paid for so why not use it? Lots of threads on doing that... If I were to go back and do my last conversion over, I'd have gotten a regular double hook G2. Takes some doing, but you can modify the second hook to act as an over-travel limiter. If you have a grinder or a dremel and some patience, you can make it fit your S12 and save a few bucks. That's about all I can think of to cut corners. There's really not m
  17. :lolol: Prepaid cell phone, handcuffs, and a metal chair? Car battery, largest leather belt they carry, and a bandana? Superman Halloween costume, nyquil, and green koolaid mix? 12ga slugs (the big box,) a big rug, and a GPS?
  18. Green is the color most easily perceived by the human eye in low-light conditions.
  19. Three years ago, I was fighting insomnia and losing. I decided to go for a walk (out in the boondocks) around 2AM. There's a grain elevator nearby and I thought I'd stroll down the unlit road that borders their property. It was just about this time of year, when the corn has started drying out and the nights are humid and foggy. The stars were obscured by cloud cover and there were no lights visible from where I was heading. I crossed the railroad tracks (the only elevated area for miles) and slipped into total darkness. About 200 yards down the road, I heard the corn rustling. Thinking it was
  20. WTF?!? Ok, noted. There are giant, man-eating ants in Texas. Cancel plans of visiting Texas. Ever.
  21. These are great! Got a raccoon story of my own.. I'd seen this decent-sized raccoon hanging around for a few weeks and wasn't going to do anything about it, but my girlfriend at the time was worried about her ankle-biting dog. So I resolved to take it out next chance I got. Mounted my Streamlight TLR-1 on a Sig Mosquito and loaded the mag with Remington Yellow Jackets. Late one night, she tells me she saw it in the driveway. I sprint to the gun room, snag the Sig, race to the door, throw on my shoes, and sneak out. Got out in the yard and let my eyes adjust before going further. I could hear
