  1. +1 This is 100% correct! Don't forget to sign up for discounts at places like MidwayUSA and Brownell's when you get yours! Bill
  2. It's fine for tactical shooting, but not consistent, long-range work. For one thing, the thin barrel causes drift as it heats and cools. But if you're happy with 2 - 3 moa, it's fine! Not to mention all the ammo you can buy for the $700 or so price difference. Bill
  3. I came across a new gun-friendly payment option, https://www.gearpay.com/ , via a fund raiser for American Snipers, SmackTheSmiley. I'm not a shill for them, and I'm just setting up my account, but an option like this seems promising. Bill
  4. +1E06 I even installed mine with a hand drill and the rifle across my lap while sitting in front of the TV! (Just make sure there's clear air under the trunion! ) Bill
  5. Cool how gun guys are so similar the world around! Goofin' for the camera, snacking on forbidden foods, and having a great time! Hope you whupped some black-rifle butt! Thanks! Bill
  6. Awesome! Congrats, man! Wow! Even got threading kit rentals! Oh sh*t! :dollar: Bill
  7. RangerM9, This forum over on arfcom has loads of good info. FWIW, Moly Resin looks the current fave there, but plenty info on all the current ones. Bill
  8. Nice! (Everybody looked kinda cold, though!? ) Which shooter were you? Thanks! Bill
  9. You can get some auto door guard plastic and put on the curved section of the receiver cover and possibly eliminate the denting. (Or so some here have said. I have yet to take my baby back to the range. ) Bill
  10. You are correct! Apparently I was the most recent offender (judging by some folks attitude, anyway ) Here is the thread with the info. Bill
  11. BattleRifleG3 makes these. I have one in my 223 I wanted to leave looking "almost stock." I confess, I haven't been to the range since then, but everything cycles fine with snap-caps! Bill
  12. Get the 16" and no (unless you get a bigger caliber Saiga). It's reliable, easy to use, and an abso-frickin'-lutely amazing deal! With the standard AK scope mount you can put on a laser, light, holo sight.... all the tacticool home defense stuff! Bill
  13. Dang! He's almost got me convinced to get a 308! Bill
  14. Nice looking rifle! I'm really pleased with my V-Tac Quick Adjust sling! Bill
  15. Check out the last post in this thread! Haven't tried it myself, but I've got the material! Bill
  16. Oh noez! Beeg scary laser-guided tactical assault weapon of mass destruction! (Seriously, nice work!) Bill
  17. These guys have some info. If you have an Academy store in your area, they may still have some of the $4.86/20 .223, too! Bill
  18. They get a fair amount of use varminting, but not much bigger game than a coyote, AFAIK. Bill
  19. Very nice step-by-step! Maybe the trigger job part, at least, should become part of the Tech Section reference materials? Bill
  20. And of course, .223 would be cheaper to shoot, too! Bill ETA: Eh... MD_Willingtion beat me to the submit!
  21. The stock TAPCO will require moving the FCG assembly to the default AK location, that is, forward. OTOH, BattleRifleG3, on here, has a modified TAPCO that will work in the "sporter" stock position. Bill
  22. Sounds a lot like my HS English teacher! We had to read the tales of "Don Jew'-un." Bill
  23. ^^^^^ LMAO! "Sit, boy!" Bill
