SHOTGUN MESIAH 855
If money was not a concern, what would be the best most high quality AK one could purchase? and what model. Fire Away. Edited August 18, 2013 by SHOTGUN MESIAH
poolingmyignorance 2,191
polytec is pretty high on my list.
ShadowFire 220
I'm just really happy with what I own. That's the thing, these rifles breed on you. You will eventually have more than one sooner or later.
yakdung 2,926
I love my Arsenal Milled. I purchased it for 535.00 NIB years ago.
Deadeye 325
so far my favorite is a milled bulgaran arsenal. here is minehttp://forum.saiga-12.com/index.php?/topic/64875-arsenal-slr-95-in-wood/ Edited August 19, 2013 by deadeye
SaigaKen 338
I also love my Milled Bulgarian Arsenal....Very accurate as far as an AK is concerned and very little muzzle rise
Yugopap4me 29
A sig550 : ). I owned a stamped arsenal once in 5.45 and it was top notch. I'm very sad I sold it
thebuns1 4,323
I prefer stamped over milled, but my SGL31 is by far my favorite. Id love to have a type 2 though.

Sdustin 578
When polytechs were first coming in they were cheap Chinese crap now they are pretty high on The list. The best ive owned was a hungerian sa85m. Should have kept it.
U.S. Pratorean 1,234
Valmet M78, IMI Galil, Arsenal milled, Yugo M70B1, Polytech Legend. In that order.

VR762Shooter 838
I'd love a Poly. They had some in the shop I bought my S-12 last year, $2400 for a milled National Match. Were beautiful and if money were no object I would have sprung, but the lotto ain't been hit yet

mancat 2,368
When polytechs were first coming in they were cheap Chinese crap now they are pretty high on The list. The best ive owned was a hungerian sa85m. Should have kept it. people say this a lot but personally I've never really seen a Chinese AK that I was all that impressed with when compared to a standard stamped Euro variant. I would probably make exceptions for an 84S or any other spiker. if I had a lot of money to drop on an AK, I would get a Bulgarian milled RPK in 5.56. The VEPR .223 comes pretty close, but I would love to have a 5.56 companion to my AES-10B, which is one of the most accurate AKs I've ever shot.
Jaba1017 71
Another vote for Arsenal. Love my SLR106. I would buy a milled 5.56 if they come out with one in AR-M1 series trim. http://www.arsenalinc.com/usa/Caliber_5.56x45mm_AR/
Skitterfish 10
I had a SAR-1 that I sold to fund a SGL-21 and I'd do it again in a second.

slostang 80
I had a SAR-1 that I sold to fund a SGL-21 and I'd do it again in a second. I have an SAR-1 that sits in the safe parked beside my SLR-95. Love the SAR. built like a tank and accurate.
Skitterfish 10
My SAR-1 was ridiculously inaccurate and other that came from the same batch were tack drivers. Even the factory target was a joke. It also had a serious trigger slap issue. I know they are nice rifles, I just got a bad one.
ShadowFire 220
The best one is the one you own. I know some people may have duds out there but to me a dud is a challenge to fix it and make it the best it can be.
slostang 80
We had an arsenal SLR-106UR new at the shop today. It was a constant struggle with myself to not buy it so I sold it as quickly as I could. Lol

Matthew Hopkins 1,065
The best one is the one you own. I definitely hit the like button on what you wrote. yeah, the best AKs out there are the ones in my safe. all others are crap Edited September 23, 2013 by Matthew Hopkins
scoutjoe 276
Yugo M72... I'm kinda biased towards "heavier duty" guns. But I just seem to get much better accuracy from that one compared to any other RPK I've shot.
ShadowFire 220
Yugo M72... I'm kinda biased towards "heavier duty" guns. But I just seem to get much better accuracy from that one compared to any other RPK I've shot. I can see why. With a 16 inch barrel there is less material on barrel whip so theoretically you would have a barrel that returns to center a little faster. However this can also be offset by other factors such as actual twist rate after the reality of tolerances and machining. If it's slightly tighter than the median tollerance, it will naturally squeeze a touch more accuracy out of the round and barrel. However at 50 yards or closer, it will be unnoticeable. You could give the barrel a thicker OD (outer diameter) but you'll also notice it when you pick it up too. At 75 yards when I do my part, my rifle hits POA with it's POI. I can't ask much more than that. I'm confident should I extend the range, I'd see the same results without optics within reasonable ranges.
scoutjoe 276
The M72 is the RPK version, I'm crediting the mint Yugo barrel and longer sight radius for my ability to punch steel at 300 yards consistently.
Sim_Player 1,939
I had a Norinco SKS, once, that couldn't shoot better than a 6" group past 50 yards, so I have something to compare my AKs to. I like the weight of the stamped AKs. Anything shooting 5.45 is a great AK in my book (albeit, I've never fired a 5.56 AK).
