  1. Maybe it's smart, but if industries throughout history had waited around for enough preorders to finance their new products, we'd probably be sitting around chatting with each other using computers made of tin cans and strings on an Internet made of donkeys...or something.
  2. Yup, thats also why his gut sticks out between his vest and belt, and his IFAK pouch is empty... That's not an IFAK, it's a snack pouch. Oops, I didn't recognize that as a BSKIT (Bacon Sammich Kit, Improved Tactical). That's not where I keep my snack pouch. I keep one on either side of my manboob-rig to keep myself from having to make uncomfortable reaches when deploying a Twinkie. I just hope he uses his dump pouch for dumping magazines.
  3. It appears to have grown bigger and stronger in twelve ways!
  4. Not by the ARs on my chinny-chin-chin! To be fair to the goofballs who designed the thing, they do say it's designed for cartridges up to 6.8SPC. This is a bit like saying "mountains up to Ben Nevis", of course, but at least they're forthright about its intended utility. Still, that seems like it would be a very uncomfortable way to shoot, even if there were no recoil impulse.
  5. If you haven't been prepping for this by living in a swampy hellhole, you've just been another sheep.
  6. I am cautiously optimistic, though my inner cynic (communicating through my outer cynic) believes that any SVDs will be brought in by a firm that negotiates exclusive import rights and keeps the prices high. Still, it might be worth it.
  7. He wasn't a major star, but he did have a lot of memorable roles.
  8. And the Lord spake, saying, "First shalt thou take out the Holy Pin. Then, shalt thou count to three; no more, no less. Three shalt be the number thou shalt count, and the number of the counting shall be three. Four shalt thou not count, nor either count thou two, excepting that thou then proceed to three. Five is right out. Once the number three, being the third number, be reached, then lobbest thou thy Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch towards thy foe, who, being naughty in My sight, shall snuff it."
  9. Mine was tapered like that. I went ahead and threaded for 5/8-24 though and everything went according to plan. Just go slowly and use plenty of cutting oil.
  10. A North Korean invasion makes slightly less sense than a Chinese one, but if they were going to make a movie with a nonsensical plot, why did the producers reject my cybernetic dinosaur invasion screenplay?
  11. Not that mass slaughter of Native Americans didn't start before the Civil War, but I'm going to call BS on at least some of that. I don't know if it's Fox's BS or Robinson's, but color me unimpressed with both.
  12. Cool! It must be nice to have your own range to warm up the barrel.
  13. Well done! I'm always envious of people who have the skills to make nice things.
  14. I almost always shoot alone, so the only person I have to worry about besting me is myself. Even that is unfortunately rare.
  15. It's possible that it was threaded for 1/2"-28 or 1/2"-36. If the threads are just about 1/2" across, the chances are even better. The last thing I'd check would be the pitch of the threads. Now, there are tools for this kind of thing, but you could get a good idea of it by measuring along the length of the threads and counting the number of threads in 1/4". If it's 7, then you have 28 tpi; if it's 9, then you have 36. There are plenty of options for flash hiders in both of those varieties (with the vast majority of the 1/2"-28 variety), but be sure the device is caliber-specific if it ac
  16. Mine arrived yesterday and look great! I'll get some pics when I take them to the range today! Update: I didn't get to shoot, but here's the picture.
  17. One kidney or both? Just kidding! That is a hugely nice haul.
  18. If she knows what she's doing, sure! If it's just cheesecake, I'd rather you just go all the way and make it a porno.
  19. Of all the shitty reasons people have for not treating each other decently, religion is one of the shittiest. It's not as bad as greed or jealousy or laziness despite the fact that that may take up the banner of religion to disguise the fact that they're defects of character. That said, the bumper of a car hardly seems the appropriate forum for discussing fairly weighty topics like the interrelationship of followers mutually exclusive world faiths.
  20. I think marketing also plays a role in the move to more simplistic designs. It's got to be easier to brand a product line with cleaner, less organic designs. Remington's boxes, for example, all look a lot alike despite running the gamut from photographs of birds to shitty green polygons.
  21. More details on this please? what should the TAT be threaded onto, how far, how soon, etc? I also second the question in reference to what type of pipe cutter was used? The one I have purchased seems too thick and wont cut far enough back. The TAT should be threaded about halfway to the die when starting to cut the threads, as in this simplified drawing: What I did was thread it in a little too shallow, like this: When the muzzle touched the TAT, the next turn caused the die to pull the first few threads off the barrel. After the first two or three threads are cut, I would pu
  22. Looks good! How do you like that I.O. stock? I put one on my 20 gauge, but it feels a little odd for some reason that I can't quite put my finger on. Still, except for the buttplate, it's a tough bugger.
