  1. Odd shit follows me home all the time. I picked up a C93 pistol (HK53 clone) and some items I felt were necessary to make it right and filed a couple form 1's. I've got a bad habit for exchanging overtime funds for impulse buys....actually I think we all do.
  2. I don't think C&S has updated their site in years. Best bet is to call Fri/Sat and ask for Ken. They run the machine shop through the week, store front is open on Friday/Saturday. Edit-check the ranges in your area for NFA rentals and try things out. If you want to travel there's always Knob Creek twice a year in KY and OFASTS in OK.
  3. My current little mule is a 97 Montero Sport 3.0L 4wd and has 228xxx miles and runs like a top. I take care of my own stuff and as old as this thing is it's still tight and rust free, doesn't leak or burn oil and pretty much drives through anything. I have a job that requires me to get to work no matter how bad things are and knock on wood it's never let me down. Keep your oil changed, keep your oil changed, keep your oil changed!
  4. Drunk people do stupid shit. This was 20+ years ago but I was at a party one night where a friend borrowed keys to go sleep it off in another friends car. The next day (just a few hours later I got a call that he was dead). Seems that at some point his mind changed from sleeping to taking the car for a drive and hit a tree @ an estimated 90mph. Closed Casket. After that day I started disabling cars if I knew they had too much...pissed some friends off at the time but they always understood the next day. The laws a bitch but sometime shit happens, wish they could just boot the car so it couldn'
  5. MT Predator "My friend just sold a complete M16 for $6K not long ago" If that was a standard transferable you're killing me......... OP-if you're looking for NFA stuff from a forum Business member, Ken at C&S Metall-Werkes, Ltd always has interesting items. I know a few weeks ago he had a flawless MP5 and a Thompson he was brokering for an estate not to mention his stuff for sale.
  6. FMJ x39 is just an ass kicker of a round when it comes to punching nice size holes in things. I get a fair # of shot up cars at work and you're not going to hide from it in your vehicle (or in many cases, on the other side).
  7. Shannon, you know quality sells itself. Why is Tromix so successful...Tony's quality standards has built his reputation. Stick to your standards and the same state or not word gets around and you'll be fine. I have a long time buddy with a large tool store, several years ago Cummins Industrial opened a store across the street. Initially he freaked because the name made it sound large and legit and the prices were a fraction of what his tools sold for. Years later he's bigger than ever and for all I know Cummins is out of business (definitely gone in my neck of the woods). Stick to your standar
  8. I'd have to say almost every AK kit gun I've ever built had some degree of rust between the receiver stub and trunion. My best guess would be left over moisture from the rinse after park. Some were used parts kits and some were newly assembled and cut for importation. As the end user you always have the ability to make up for what you consider mistakes in the process.
  9. I ending up sending the two form 1's Priority w/ delivery confirmation. We'll see where the date ends up. As a side note I thought the additional traffic had to do with the Trust route falling apart/recent problems with those who had used a trust rather than a sign off??
  10. Grima, back from the great beyond after all this time. Where the hell did you disappear too. Cheers
  11. Crap Big John, when I saw the title I thought you were talking about guys like me Bet that guy turned a few through the years.
  12. There are several pistol trunions made with a receiver hole for a quick disconnect, they're not drilled and tapped though. mancat, there's a picture in my gallery page showing a M92 I built from a kit some years ago with a fake can pinned, the fake can has a much larger bore diameter and produced a nice loud bang and impressive fireball. I recently submitted a form 1 on it so I can remove the extension but I can tell you even with it, it's a blast to shoot and the advantage of a stock is huge. Just curious, did the PAP come with a underfolder trunion? It's hard to resist buying one, the price
  13. I'm getting ready to mail two Form 1's off after the holiday mail traffic, just curious about a few things. 1) How are you mailing your forms (standard,1st class, Priority w/ confirmation)? 2) Do you paper clip or staple your papers and fingerprint card together? On the good side I got my print card and CLEO sign off done in less than 24hrs, bad side is that I've read the posts that ATF is pushing 9 month wait times....really, WTF do they check that takes 9 months.
  14. At any point have you tried slugs to see if it works? Does it eject if you hand cycle? Most of the issues are gas related but what if it's a ejector or extractor issue.
  15. Vote with your $$$ if you like it, I'm still on the fence about having my hand that close to the heat source. On the HK it's a non issue, once I see a video of some mag dumps and reloads I'd be more inclined to believe. Even on the full length HK I'm not sure I like the placement that far up. Gunfxr's FAL style left side charger seems like the best option I've seen as far as placement and operation. I have 2 HK clones and an ADCOR AR with a side charger that I still prefer to use the rear charging handle on.
  16. FYI, anyone trying to contact C&S the best time is FRI/SAT later morning to late afternoon when the store front's open for social hour. That's when I tend to call or stop in and it's never been a problem. Always interesting stuff to see/buy if you're in the area. (shameless plug but Ken. Jon, and Matt have always treated me right and when they talk firearms the actually know the mechanics of how they work). NFA STUFF FOR 20+YEARS
  17. Now unfold it with the stick mag still inserted...to each his own, projects keep the mind sharp and hands buisy.
  18. HBD you brat of a man For what it's worth you've got quality stuff, if the wifes half the quality of your collection a little give and take makes for a good marriage. You know TennGalil's going to hook you up as well as DT. Cheers Bro
  19. ^^^Yup, sometimes you have to reach down deep and pull yourself up to come out the other side. You'll be a better man when your done. I'm pulling for you dude if you're having problems, true inner strength is your best friend. To the OP, I hope things work out and you get your stuff. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Integrity
  20. Carlsons Choke Tubes has always performed good work for me at a fair price with quick turn around time for internal chokes. 2 S12's with Tru chokes and a 870 with Remington. I've always pulled the barrel and sent it alone, I'm not sure if that's a requirement but it's noteworthy for anyone looking to have a Saiga 12 internally threaded.
  21. Hey, you're the sick mofo that posted it. Face it, we fucked up, we trusted you
  22. Tavor's of recent times are US IWI versions, an off shoot of Israel's IMI. Shit can happen if the folks with deep pockets want it to. As for cheap....I wouldn't hold my breath.
  23. The guy had some good points...this is a lighter view http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=WCBIRcFlD-E
  24. For the life of me I can't understand why a lot of the vendor sections are still up on the board, if nobody's heard from Mike, is he still paying his fee to be a business member. Maybe Makc is just sentimental for some of the members that were very influential at one time and helped the board grow or possibly preserving history. Really a bummer, I can remember when he and Zxxx from AGP were regular posters back in the early days. Best bet now is to lurk the boards and Gunbroker.
  25. Mass reduces recoil. ultimately your better off moving the weight around on the gun to make the balance feel better than just reducing weight. The S12 is typically front heavy to start with imho.
