You know your getting old when...
6500rpm replied to David Mark's topic in General Discussion - Any topic is welcome here!!!
I can remember being a kid looking at my dad's Playboy's thinking "Damn, I can hardly wait until I get older so I can get me some of that". Now it's like "Son of a bitch, I've got kids older than that you perv", when the hell did that happen!!!! -
Put in simple terms, "If you're not part of the solution, you must be part of the problem". I've said it before and I'll say it again, we're all born with free will. We make our own decisions in life. These aren't little pot heads coming out of jail, there's a clear line between misdemeanor and felony possession of a controlled substance. You're not going to prison for a misdemeanor. If you want to smoke pot, have at it, but don't cross the line on how much you're holding, selling to pay for your habit, and unless you have a friend that's growing, don't think for a minute that some of the mone

M&M with nuts! By the way, if that kid in the first picture shows up at my door, I'm punting him all the way to the street and capping his dad. -
Home made guns
6500rpm replied to Nailbomb's topic in General Discussion - Any topic is welcome here!!!
The receiver was originally cut for a 2XTM 9mm build. I Tig welded a repair section in and just for shits n grins, installed a stiffener plate. The stiffener plate is spot welded to the receiver in several locations, but I thought "what the hell" and dropped the two end rivits in just for franken gun looks. -
As I recall, Saiga 12's have had issues with the threads not being concentric to the bore. I can see with the length of the Molot brake being one of, if not the longest brakes I've seen, that a non concentric barrel could cause shot cup strikes similar to baffle strikes in a suppressor. Additional food for thought.

Let Me Know What You Think!

I think you're a gifted dude with a strong heart. I had an instructor in my younger days the road my ass with the phrase "It's no hill for a climber". Your talent as a machinist and now videographer exemplifies that spirit. Keep on climbing bro, I don't know which journey you'll end up taking but I can see you have what it takes to get there. Your work speaks volumes about your character. Cheers -
Oddly enough, ADCOR Defense had a horse in the running for that contract but fell short. They've manufactured receivers for Colt for quite a few years, and their Elite series uses a FN hammer forged barrel. I'm not sure what they submitted but they have both a unique piston design and a DI. Makes me wonder what Colt/FN submitted that won out.

For those that don't know it, or don't know how to use it, the forum has an IGNORE feature you can use. 1) Sign into the forum 2) Click on your user name at the upper right of the page 3) Click Manage Ignore Prefs 4) Add the members name you want to block, and save the change Done From that point on, whenever you sign into to forum you'll never even know that member existed unless someone else does a "quote" of their post. I don't know which mod did the genius move to shift the Random Picture thread to the basement protected section, but if you use the Ignore feature it works

Scoping a ruger 10/22.
6500rpm replied to DavidQ's topic in General Discussion - Any topic is welcome here!!!
I'd have to dig it out to see what rings I used (they were a little pricey), but the scope is BSA on a Ruger factory rail. For a little mouse gun this thing is dead accurate in the 50-100yd range and a lot of fun for new shooters. GunFun does have a lot of merits when you dial up the magnification, but for a bench rest gun it works out fine. Lots of fun for shooting cards. -
GunFun, I think you really overthought the whole thread. It has nothing to do with missing value equations, mil spec, or anything other than common practice. When the fist AK's were built (correct me if I'm wrong) but they were built by communist and I don't think the lowest bidder was a factor and probably had more to do with mass production numbers. To date, almost every gun I can think of is either milled with interlocking parts, welded, or riveted at heavy load points. Screws just aren't a typical method to assemble a firearm, not because they're doomed to fail but most likely more prone

I love it....

A+ evl , There's no denying that your builds are both reliable and effective at close range even in that compact package. Wonder if they picked up on your picture on a google search or if they actually had some idea what they were looking for. -
I don't think the million's of factory built AK's are baseless, I also don't think if done correctly a screw build is just going to fall apart for a recreational shooter. I do feel rivits provide better clamping force not to mention the swell neck rivet locations that mechanically lock the receiver and trunion. I just finished de-milling a PSL kit yesterday, I've heard a lot of people piss and moan about how hard the barrel pin and barrel are to press out but mine went relatively easy. What did shock me was what it took to remove the trunion rivets. Typically, I drill the centers and knock the

Best state to live in as a retiree.
6500rpm replied to horatio's topic in General Discussion - Any topic is welcome here!!!
patriot, after hanging with the neighbors all day I'm pretty much in that state now but being in my 50's I've been giving TN some thought. I've always liked the change of seasons, hate the cold, and it puts me that much closer to the gulf of mexico. Cost of living seems better than in St Louis which is pretty good overall. I'd like to settle in some place with a fair amount of property before I die, either rural Missouri or Tennessee has got my attention. As a bonus there's always Bristol twice a year -

Happy Birthday to my neighbor to the south, hope you had a chance to get out and enjoy the beautiful day we had today. Cheers to the class act of the forum -
Ban worthy, probably not...definitely a distraction on most of the gun related sections and seems more needy than anything. Think..."do I have anything of value to contribute to this thread" before posting in it. Realize- Picture Post, Lets See Your Saiga 12 is for pictures, not comments (mods have had to remove comments on multiple occasions and place them in the sister thread just below to clean it up and this applies to more than Jdeko). Could be a generational thing but I hate Japanese anime and the whole sub culture that goes with it, if that's what your all about why not spread it aroun

Happy Birthday BVAMP, make it a good one -
I'd bet a lot of the guys here now don't have a clue about the forum in it's early days when the Saiga's first started rolling in and the ability to convert back was regained or the contributions you made. No matter what, you've been a lot of places and done a lot of interesting things.... from time to time you go a little off the reservation and on occasion share a bit too much Don't sweat the small stuff.
