I use them all the time, they fit well and run better than some plastic shells. Get a lot of looks at the trap range too when people see them silver shells flying at them...
-
The .308 is a couple or so pounds heavier than the .223 or 7.62. With the thicker barrel is where the weight comes from.
-
I haven't seen any rings yet on any of my spent casings, just the dust cover dent. I was looking for it too when I first got mine but nothing.Fortunately I don't save the 7.62 for reloading or it may be an issue.

I shot a lot of Wolf and Russian Metal shells through mine, could be that the Remington is a hair bigger diameter.Try sanding the inside sides to loosen it up a bit to get the ammo to move easier.
-
Thank you, I may go with the 10 or 15 rounder. If anyone has the length on the 15 I'd appreciate it. Thanks. 15 rounder is a hair over 6"
-
If it holds 15 its a 15 round mag,the .410 they make them for like that. I've got a few of them but dont have any feed problems with them,or problems with the feed angle. What kind of ammo are you running in it?

rd99fxdl replied to Stansplace's topic in General Discussion - Any topic is welcome here!!!
I've had decent luck with little metric screws at ACE hardware,of all places. -
Hell,I thought that stuff was cologne... Oh well,so much for thinking....

Is This A Good Time To Buy A Saiga?
rd99fxdl replied to Strange1's topic in General Discussion - Any topic is welcome here!!!
Theres never a bad time to buy one, just wan't too good a few months back. It seems like prices are finally stable again,at least as far as they'll go,so just do it,you won't regret it. Of course, its an addiction,so you may ...naahhh,you won't regret it. -
That looks like a .308 receiver, not a .223. The .308 has that goofy long trigger

rd99fxdl replied to SinistralRifleman's topic in The Competitor's Corner / TEAM SAIGA
I got on the list at livingston to send emails when they have matches. I'll have to check out Bluewater more here too. I'm over by DSC but they dont have any fun stuff like these other two do. -
Damn you MI guys are lucky

Stopped up there a couple weeks ago to check it out,man what a difference a bulldozer makes. I like the way they set up a short range too to the one side with the backstop. They dug the whole thing out deeper yet -
Report: Michigan Matches
rd99fxdl replied to SinistralRifleman's topic in The Competitor's Corner / TEAM SAIGA
Congrats on placing in the matches. Where is the Blue Water club located? I know where the Livingston club is and have heard of Bluewater but not too much. -
Looks good. Hows it look in the rifle? need more pics
-
I've got a Ruger Super Redhawk with scope, and its a nice shooting gun.Good fit to my hands and good weight too. Judge would be a better snake gun but for real game the .44 mag is decent close up.
-
is my mag catch filed enough? check pics please
rd99fxdl replied to james peek's topic in Saiga 7.62 X 39
You're better off filing the mags to fit than the catch. The mags vary a bit but the gun will always be the same. -
I shoot trap with mine all the time,do get funny looks from some that either havent seen or dont know what a Saiga is. Other than that, its just as good a shooter as My Remington,Mossberg and Browning.Same as all,you have to be able to get it up.

Thats how it starts, put the idea on paper. I ended up making some templates out of hardboard after I drew them up so I have them if I decide to make more. One thing I found fast tho is that once you get the stock roughed out and before you shape anything, get the stock mounted in your rifle. Its a lot easier to do any routing or sawing while there are still flat surfaces on the wood. Once its fit, then knock your socks off shaping the rest of it.Plus that way you can work the cheek rest right in while youre going at it and it will be fitted to you best.
