Good News! Possible METAL Saiga 12 mags!

Recommended Posts

C Products is considering producing metal S12 mags. They have obtained samples of current mags to evaluate for the possibility of reverse engineering them.

For those who don't know, C Products is a vietnam-vet-owned LLC that produces some of the finest magazines for AR-15s. They produce stainless and aluminum mags in 5.56, 5.45x39, 7.62x39, and others for AR-15s, so their ability for mag production is well-established.

If there is any think tank that could provide info for Larry(the owner), it would be this forum.

I don't want to start a flood of emails to Larry on the subject, but some knowledgeable folk here might want to offer their expertise. Specifically Mike D, Cobra, et al might want to email him about fitting issues, as well as the info on varying tolerances in S12s. Someone might want to educate him on the importance of spring-steel feedlip clips as well.

Hell, I bet he could make some sweet mags for the S308 as well. Think about it.... Stainless mags for S12s and S308s. That would be the shit!

http://www.cproductsllc.com/

ETA: There is NO PROMISE of the production of these mags, so please do not bug the hell out of the owner. As you can imagine, they are currently swamped with production of their current product line, so DO NOT BE A DICK ABOUT THIS!

Someone already started a thread about this. Unfortunately, that person didn't give it a lot of forethought, as he bashed all the current poly mags on the market in his attempt to sway people to buy these mags, even though they don't even exist yet....

As you were keen enough to realize, he will definitely run into a few issues with fitting steel mags to these widely varying shotguns. I can offer help if he needs it.

Holy shit!

How'd I miss that thread?

I would love to see this happen. I've got a few of the CProducts 6.5 Grendel mags, and they are perfect - great quality AND great price - what more could a guy want?

I'd take a half dozen of the first run based on his reputation alone.

Hey just a heads up, I built a metal 12 gauge magazine last night to mess around with the idea... Lets just say they have their work cut out. There is a lot going on in that magazine to make the rounds feed properly.

I counted four critical points that make the rounds feed into the chamber. I don't know much about stamping equipment but I can see a few things that may give them problems.

This is not an AR-15 mag for sure.

I'd like to see how they do some of the features in the magazine if they build them.

Bashing and truth are two different things little gardener snake 76!! It actually was you that simply ruined that thread with your whinning big mouth lol, so adolescent its pathetic!! BTW, I gave my forethought to Larry of C-Products personally as some of the attitudes on this forum simply arent worth dealing with.. While some people are making efforts to grow the market in the direction of getting other builders to come up with new products for these Saigas, others spend all of their time deffending the same old same..... Also, please give me a direct quote of where I tried to "sway" people to buy this product, none of your whinning bullshit, but an actual quote.... Have a meaningful day now!

Let him get his jollies stalking smack. Everyone here can see who knows more about what they speak...I've said plenty of positive things on the subject, but only the negatives are heard by some people. I've spent many, many,..... many hours studying everything about these mags for the S-12, and just like csspecs stated above, there's a whole lot more to it than just making a metal box that will hold a certain number of shells. A lot of other factors come into play. You can load a G-3 mag full of 12 ga shells. It's steel. Does that mean it's easy to just weld a couple of lugs on it and start feeding S-12s? No. You can also cram around ten 410 shells into the same mag, double stacked. Does that mean you can simply adapt it to the 410 Saiga and make it work? It's been how many years now and how many have done so? ....As I've said at least three times now, I wish them good luck in their venture. I've been around here long enough to see more than just a few people say they are gonna make a new mag for the S-12. Lets see....how many have actually done it?And out of those who have had success...how many people are still whining ( <---correct spelling BTW) about them and belittling their efforts?

<New note to self...> "Don't feed the troll. Ignore it.... it'll go back in it's hole." <repeats like a mantra... >

It occurs to me that reinventing the wheel by making steel versions of the standard mags may be more trouble than necessary. Wouldn't it be easier to design a lugless drop-free mag that will work with a magwell designed just for it? There seem to be plenty of people interested in a magwell that you have to modify mags from a specific manufacturer for, and once you install the magwell you can't use standard mags without removing the magwell again. So why not design a mag and magwell made for each other? I would imagine the cost of the mags wouldn't be any more than trying to recreate factory mags in steel, but you have the added development cost of the magwell, but they could complement each other well enough to make it worthwhile. And for every magwell you sell, you now have a dedicated magazine customer.

Just a thought.

Screw steel, I want a Saiga 12 magazine made out of Jello, I know there would be some feeding issues and other issues with melting and such, but you could make them in a variety of flavors and they'd be quite yummy!

Amen. $30 for the well and standard prices for the mags. They would sell enough to be popular and profitable, and everyone would buy their mags. Guaranteed multiple purchases. AGP could make a ton. They could sell 2 10shot magwell mags +1 magwell for $150. It would sell like crazy and most people would order more mags..

If we could convince AGP to buy the design from jd travers for his magwell, the development would be already done, the mods would be reversible, and the per-unit cost would be radically lower if they made 1000+ per run. Money for everyone, better saigas for everyone.

If it was popular enough, I bet there would soon be a special MD20 to fit it as well. or md20's would come with replaceable upper parts.

+1 for Jello! You could pre-freeze them with liquid nitrogen to resolve the melting concern. There's ways to work around any problem!

Criminalpoet you are about one post away from taking a vacation from this forum. Let's see how intelligent you are, or not.

I tell you what, at the point your little buddy gardener snake 76 gets to take pop shots at me at will by making snide little remarks, and get away with it, but I respond 1 time and you threaten to kick me off of your forum lol, I SAY GO FUCK YOURSELF!!!! If you guys want to run a forum like the Obama administration, by kicking people off that dont agree with the views of the forum government, then I dont want to be a part of this forum anyways lol.... Now lets see how much of a TRUE AMERICAN you are, "or not"...... Do you want this forum to be one that displays and accepts diversity, or would you rather be an Obama supporter and implement Socialism here by declaring martial law and punishing the general public (your members and customers of your forum venders) for expressing themselfs in disagreement with one of your admistration?

I've been here for a while, and let me tell you how these things always go.

1) Somebody innocently mentions that they are interested in making a new product for the S12.

2) There is a giant shit storm.

3) The guy with the new idea goes running for his life.

That's some of the hilarity of this whole forum. Perfectly normal good ol' boys inexplicably just flare up. Love it! (Including the newly "evil" and reviled and revolting Fight Club, (especially it's sometimes juvenile and always meaningless drivel ).

OOOhhhh Criminalpoet. This don't look promising. Alas. (and alack too, of course). We hardly knew ye. Bounce12 is going to have to be careful the next time he opens up a can of Green Giant creamed corn, no doubt of that!

If only you could have tried sucking up some. Goodbye, goodby. I'll remember you at every cornfield.
