  1. I used to think the same thing - right up to the point where I bought my 1st Saiga .308 and Saiga 12... I bought both at the same local gunshow, NIB and both were $285ea OTD. The Philippino 1911's aren't perfect, but they are wall made (for the most part) and a good bargain for what they offer. It posts the pictures or it gets the hose again.... Good shag! I honestly can't see much difference between the RIA's, Citadels, Charles Daly's, etc (which are all Armscor and made in the same facility) and ATI's and American Classic's (which are made in different factories.). On all of them, t
  2. Last weekend, at the gunshow here in Savannah, I bought an ATI GFX1911 GI (Commander sized) for $320, NIB / OTD. Good looking pistol but would only feed hardball. I have it in at my LGS for a ramp and throat job. No biggie. I had to have this service done on my RIA 1911A1CS (which I LOVE!) too and will cycle empty cases now. Overall - I am very fond of both my RIA and ATI, but I think I still like the RIA a bit better. They use good steel and the machining is excellent. The only complaint I have (on both RIA and ATI) is that the "Parkerizing" wears thin too quickly and the grips suck.
  3. If you're determined, you'll be surprised just how much shit you can get into a 16' PODS! I do believe one can get 30' of shit into a 16' box.
  4. Happy Birthday to the God Father of Saiga Coolness! Others may modify Saigas, but there is only one TROMIX! Macbeau sends...
  5. "We have four boxes used to guarantee our liberty: The soap box, the ballot box, the jury box and the cartridge box". -- Ambrose Bierce (1887) One of my favorite quotes. It outlines the basic concept of our (individual citizens) influence on the political process and the direction the government should take. I never thought that I would live to see just how important the four "boxes" might be in the not-too-far-off future. The Soap Box is either ignored or surpressed by those who support "progress" or "Progressive ideals". "Political Correctness" is killing free speech in this coun
  6. The ovaerall execution is night and day between 1st and 2nd generation. The 2nd gens are almost like factory mags with NO wobble and well cut and welded!
  7. I am finding that the most current generation of Csspecs mags fit the mag well better than OEM mags and are miles ahead of FBMG / Unita / Surefire mags, in terms of fit, finish and durability. The Csspecs are the only mags I'll but from now on (while supplies last). I have some 1st generation Csspecs (Slab sided) 20-round, S-308's I'll sell ya if you want them... Macbeau sends...
  8. In the original trilogy, there is: Mad Max (pre-apocalypse - low budget - where his wife and daughter are killer by the bikers) and Road Warrior (post-apocalypse - better budget - where he is just looking for gas and supplies and saves the good preppers from the marauders) Thunderdome is crap. (continued post-apocalyptic - big budget - Just a platform for Tina Turner to act and sell records. Story sucked.) Macbeau....
  9. Basically - This is what the Bill of (Individual) Rights is shaping up to mean... 1st Amendment Freedom of Speech extends just as for as someone is offended by that speech - be they in this country illegally or not - and agrees with Liberal values. It also must not offend the party in power or degrade the legal or moral status of it's constituients. Freedom of Religion extends until it exits a church door, crosses a public road, or U.S. currency is involved. Or, it offends someone who is not a professed Christian or Jew. Freedom of the Press extends only as far as it a) Doesn't offend an
  10. Actually, this is sound advice. I knew from past experience from a previous .308 what to expect weight-wise, and I told myself to just suck it up because it's worth having a .308 caliber rifle. I'm not sure what your intended use for this rifle is, but unless you're LE/Military, I doubt weight should really be an issue. Range use, it shouldn't be a factor at all as you can lay it down whenever. Hunting? Now weight becomes a bit more of a factor, but when hunting, you don't lug around 20 round mags anyways. Typically 5 rounders. Also, if you don't feel comfortable carrying it around the woods,
  11. What does that work out to per round? (After the rebate)? Just curious and, YES - Lyman cast slugs are fricken AWESOME! I have the 12 and 20 guage mold. Macbeau....
  12. Yuk, Yuk Yuk..... It's coming..... Part in parcel.... between lead restrictions and handling and disposal,,,, and hazmat fees on components AND loaded ammo, AND taxes on rounds (each round sold).... It's coming... An effective ammo ban is coming... Just not as an outright "BAN ON AMMO"....
  13. They use good steel in the ARMSCOR pistols, according to my LGS. The also use U.S. MilSPEC blueprints when making these pistols.....from what I am told! Macbeau...
  14. Welcome to the Obama-Nation! un-documented' citizens to the left, liberal citizens to the right! May you be washed in the glory of the anointed one!
  15. What are they gonna get 'em on? Attempted theft? Some sort of city salvage ordnance? It's a misdamenar at best! And some Biker he is! He catches two guys trying to lift his bike from a lot and he starts with "Excuse me"...."Can I Help You"? NOTHING will come of this - but I applaud his efforts! Macbeau sends...
  16. Finally! Been wanting to develop my Chigar persona from "No Country From Old Men" Yeehaw and OH-Yeah! Macbeau!
  17. Five csspec .308 mags. My panic buy is that S308 won't be coming in anymore and Csspec will quit making 'em. I need some steel S12 Csspec mags too, but S308 was my priority as he is the only manufacture of STEEL S308 mags... Macbeau...
  18. +1 Fix what you have. If replacement becomes necessary and you do a lot of CS work, invest in a Sthil. You won't regret it. Stihl is the AK of chainsaws.
  19. Ammo is the big one I fear! No fuel, the car sits in the driveway. No ammo, the firearm sits in the gun safe. I think the "good ole days" of cheap ammo are over too. It's MUCH easier the manipulate metal prices and put the EPA and OSHA and Surgeon General's office on to added complications on Ammo manufacturing, transportation, storage, ownership and end-use / disposal than directly on firearms. IE: Lead is a hazmat, Powder is a hazmat, Primers are hazmat, Loaded ammo is Hazmat, Copper needs to be jacked up in price as a rare metal, Lead needs more regulation on handling and disposa
  20. If you're panic buying, you're try to get what you put off buying and REALLY wanted when there was no panic or reason to fear. If the Sandy Hook scare (or any of the multitude of scares that have come and gone with NO Executive or Legislative action didn't convince you to get when the getting is good (and cheap), then I have ZERO sympathy. Kinda like the people who cried when Dracos (and Mini Dracos) dried up, or WASR's went from $350 to $700+ then dried up, or those who wanted a StreetSweeper or Striker-12, but waited until they were declared NFA DD's. (Which were free to register to thos
  21. I plan to hold onto mine for as long as possible. I don't get the sense that this ban is the same as the ban that ended Norinco and Poly-Tech imports in 1991. IE: importation may resume sometime down the road when the political situation changes... However, If used, converted EAA S-308's ever start selling for the cost of a new Springfield Armory SOCOM II, I will be strongly tempted. Macbeau....
  22. My rifles are in love with 168 gn MatchKings over 44.3 gns of IMR4064 with a Federal Match LR primer and a Federal or Lake City case. That is for anything under 700 yds, but should be good out to 1,000M. COL will depend on your chamber. I use a Redding seating die that is micro-adjustable and I seat 'em long in bolt guns. The mag determines the COL on Autos. I have a different depths for my Rem 700, Win 70, Savage 110 and Saiga. Just a heads up. I load single stage and the Saiga (and most other auto loaders) have a more generous chamber. Makes it tougher to full-length resize to fit b
  23. I normally say something non-comforting like "today IS the good ole days".... It seems today that, the day before yesterday, was the good ole days of Russian fun stuff - at least for a while. But just think. I was in my mid 20's in 1989 when the Berlin wall came down and watched Russia emerge a year later from the ashes of the USSR. Before 1991, there was NOTHING in this country made in Russia before 1917 that wasn't captured, contraband or government owned. No Stoli. No Saigas, No Wolf, No VEPR's, No Molot, NADA - NIX - Zero. Even eating beets was considered an anti-American activity
