DoctorCheney223 1
Hi Folks, Just want to show you a little something that we cooked up this morning. This is a Saiga-12 that we wanted to convert into a SBS. We still want to mod a few things but you can see what he has done so far. thanks, Ron
madmax4x4 68
12 inch? so if you are not going to shorten the gas system will it run low brass? It's funny how good the bare metal looks on that thing would be nice to get that marine finish like some of the pumps have. Or wait is that bare metal or some kind of finish
Reverendfranz 160
I like the colour scheme, and good job on the weld for that sight base. Looks great.
anatak23 0
Looks great Doc! Any info on reliability/work done to the gas system would be appreciated. I've got a stamp to take mine to 12" and you have my attention!
1liter 20
Looks great, but would fire better with a FCG installed. Just being a wise &SS!
Gunfixr 76
If you wanted that finish, you could sandblast it and then Duracoat it with matte clear, and it would look like that yet not rust. FYI
Franky 2
What? No Drum
Karma 0
What? No Drum The drums aren't standard issue with the S-12, but they should be. <----still needs one
sicktooth 8
that looks (sic) as hell...id do what gunfixr said and spray it down with some clear!
madmax4x4 68
I had thought of that but I don't know how well the clear would hold up. It is made to go over base coats and is basically just the resin and catalyst with out any titanium oxide or other materials they put in duracoat colors. I guess it would hold up if the surface was flat or "ruff" after blasting. Hey maybe I could add some pearl to it to make it look like a poo fly that's what I did to my bath tub. Or maybe candy or large boat flake, would make Ed Roth proud Edit to add fuzzy furniture Edited October 3, 2008 by madmax4x4

Also, thanks for the comments guys!!! thanks, Ron
DoctorCheney223 1
OK.... it's finished thanks, Ron

Eric Pate 478
Well, I guess I'll ask... whajya use for the gas tube cover?
6500rpm 670
Looks great and has very clean looking welds. I also have to say that the look of your gun just go's to prove that you don't need a folding stock to still look cool
Paladin 37
That's very nice, I may have to break down and do a SBS myself.
DoctorCheney223 1
The cover for the hand guard is from metal that my fabricator had left over from another project. As far as the gas port, the three holes were each enlarged just enough to ensure no short-stroking occured. thanks, Ron
gr8santini 13
Duracoat Titanium is almost that exact same color.

Azkamidaka 26
im pretty sure cobra makes a part very similar to the top cover on that shotty. Take a look in his business section under vented steel hg something or other.

Take a look in his business section under vented steel hg something or other. He does... and it looks better imo, (fewer, larger vent holes). I just ordered one myself, from CSS. The OP's last post in this thread was in Oct of last year. You are right! I did not look at the dates on the thread! Thanks! However, I asked because several had asked already and he had not answered the question. Frankly, I doubt that it would run low brass well like that.
Jtp 5
I know this is an old thread, but I was checking with a gunsmith last week about refinishing an old rifle, and he suggested a teflon finish which comes with several colors including stainless steel, which is very nice
nalioth 405
You are right! I did not look at the dates on the thread! Thanks! You should always look at the dates of "new (to you) threads" with lots of posts in them. However, I asked because several had asked already and he had not answered the question. Frankly, I doubt that it would run low brass well like that. Doctor Cheney did not agree with our policies - specifically the contributor/business membership policies. So he departed. A shame, as his firm does excellent work on AKs and Saigas.
bigsky59721 3
Anyone know if that is a 12in barrel?
