Also it is bad ergonomics (?) ...You need to turn back around to get it after you get out of bed, turning your back to the potential threat, then be careful not to grab possible overhanging blanket. A gun by the door keeps your movement going fore ward, and your rifle is much easier to get a hold of.

Especially in the darkness when woken suddenly.

I made something for the side of my mattress that holds my Glock 17 in a kydex holster. To me, getting a long gun into a good shooting position from a laying down position is just too awkward. Once I'm up on my feet though, the S12 is only a few feet away.

No, no, no Rob. You're missing the point. You simply reach down, grab it, shoot it, re-rack it, roll over, hump the girlfriend and go back to sleep. You don't have to get out of the bed...that's the beauty.

I'm just going to have one of these installed in the entryway.

I think I just had one.....

Was it wrong that I looked at that longer than I did at Eva? Mmmm. Gun porn.

But, to get back on topic, those bed mounts are ridiculous. IMO, a handgun is 1st line HD, followed by a long gun. To think you'd be able to negotiate a 26"+ bird gun out from under the covers when something goes bump in the night is beyond responsible. You'd draw more blood when you snagged your leg on it every morning getting out of bed, anyway.

Lastly, during a proper shag, the gun would bounce loose and take the dog's head off! "Ooops!" won't cover that.....

First, a pistol is just to fight your way back to a long gun, and for taking places where a long gun isn't appropriate.

Second, you're absolutely right about a 26" bird gun, that's why you should SBS your saiga :D

You aren't supposed to be doing tactical movements with a shotgun in your house at night, a shotgun is for stationary defense.

You post up with it and then engage your target accordingly.

I don't keep mine behind the door, that's foolish. I keep mine leaned into a corner by my side of the bed, my wife does the same on her side with the Mossy 500. Both guns have lights, mine is 97 lumens, hers is 210... we don't intend to leave the bedroom...

Your right, I do all of my tactical movements with a shotgun in other people's homes at night :haha::haha::haha:

But, staying put and not moving around is good sound advice if you don't have to worry about other family members in the residence. :super:
