  1. That's gotta be my favorite perk. So many people have walked right past me only to get knifed. And I am now officially addicted to knifing. I can't help but laugh when I get a good kill streak with a knife.
  2. I got some 3/8 steel plate I will take out next time and see if my x39 will penetrate. I wish I had a 308 to join the party, but I'm sure my Mosin will go right through it. It almost penetrated 5/8 thick chromoly bar stock, and steel core 308 didn't do quite as much damage. I'm trying to get some armor plate to see what will go through that.
  3. I would stay away from the Tapco. I used a quad rail to counteract the heat issues I was having with my X39. Too much fun shooting a lot of ammo and 110+ degree weather = angry hand guards. They may not look AKish, but they do serve a purpose.
  4. You wont be disappointed. They are fun little AK's. I would recommend an AK74 style brake though, they get a little jumpy.
  5. :lolol: :lolol: That was bad ass. I can only hope I am that cool when I'm 67. I seen tough guys like you and I slapped the shit out of em
  6. I would definitely check out the Hogue, I love mine.
  7. I used the extended mag release from CSS and it droped right in. It does take a little getting used to though. As far as a factory type replacement, they should drop right in but you may still need to do some filing to fit.
  8. I had a slant break on it, but it didn't do much. I tried the AK74 style break and it works awesome. The slant or no break at all will produce fun sized fireballs.
  9. I wouldn't trust it to be strait enough to mount a break on it, but maybe a flash hider. The problem is (if I remember correctly) that it is a cast piece not a machined piece like the barrel. It is really easy to cut the shroud and thread the barrel, then if you want 24mm threads just use an adapter. Or the best method would be to us a 24mm FSB, then you would have the indexing pin.
  10. I didn't locktight my Dinzag BG for a few months (a few hundred rounds) and had no problems either, but when I was done and refinished I figured better safe than sorry.
  11. Here, let me make it a little worse for you http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mrSANJnmPPM
  12. Yup, Paladin has one made by Red Jacket. would be curious to know how well this round works in an AK mag. Please keep us posted KrisFox.
  13. I don't think you need to use steel wool. The stain should soak into the wood and doesn't need a ruffed up surface to adhere. Of course this is coming from my jr. high shop class days so take it for what it's worth. I found this, that says that steel wool is used for vinegar staining, and is only used to darken the shade of the vinegar and not on the surface of the wood.
  14. I am not sure if they are making them again. I called and spoke to them, but didn't ask about current production. I was not aware that they stopped making them. Supposedly they are redesigning them to work with the Burris fastfire 2.
  15. I have aftermarket AKM sights on my Saiga x39. The LaRue Irondot should fit fine. Are they making them again?
  16. Here's my Mosin. I did it all rattle can, why spend a bunch of cash painting a $60 gun?
  17. You need to replace 4 countable parts with US made parts to make it 922R compliant. TO THE FLOOR posted the link to the compliance check list above, check it out. Also make sure your good with local laws as well. In Ca you need a bullet lock to use a 30 round mag, I believe.
  18. Looks a lot better in black. Let us know when you have more in please, they look great.
  19. WOW, that thing looks like a pile of crap. The back plate looks like it snaps on using cheap looking tabs, and it has some kind of loading assist on it that will put pressure on that weak point. But hey, I'm sure it will hold a door open just as good as a wraithmaker. Am I close?
  20. You haven't seen Braveheart!?! Braveheart=bad ass Enemy at the Gates=bad ass Band of Brothers=really bad ass. It's 9 one hour long movies
  21. One thing I noticed about 1911's is that they all like different mags. Mine likes cheap ACT mags and the 10 round wilson that I have. I haven't had much luck with the Kimbers but my friends is different. Upgrades that I have done are, custom trigger job from my friend(who says it's easy), wilson combat extended slide release, recoil buffer and new spring. Also you can't go wrong with night sights. Sounds like a nice first 1911 to have. I bet if you lighten up the trigger a little you migt not shoot low.
  22. From what I have read here, the easiest way is to cut the FSB right off but it depends on your gun. If you have a press it should come off relatively easy too. Read here
