Well in about 373 days the Mayan calender will offically end and a lot of people think with that comes the end of the world. I don't believe in anyof that but it is an interesting topic. what do you think? I just know i will be preparing for any kind of emergency just in case. The calendar ending represents the end of an age. The Maya didn't go as far as a 6th age, just the 5th age ending, so their long count calendar just stops. The Hopi, however, have it as us entering the 5th age. These transitions signify great change. Kind of an end to things as they are. There are many prophecies that go along with these transitions.

Personally... I think we will have some isolated cases of "it's the end of the world and I don't care" looting going on.

There are 7 Billion people on this planet, and it can only accommodate about 2 Billion comfortably. Several of our Billions are crammed in low coastal,steep mountainous, or otherwise geographically undesirable places. A minor increase in tidal,tectonic,or atmospheric activity will have a disparate effect on those marginal places with large overpopulations. Nature's way of reseting the balance of population vs the productivity of the land.
