  1. My cousin has a Tikka, he seems to like it. I have a old remmington 700 30-06 that has never failed me, My father and brother usually hunt with ruger 77s which are rock-solid as well. Are you going to buy new or used? If you find a clean used bolt action, you may be able to pay less and get more options. Are you going to be in an area that gets lots of rain or by the coast where there is humid salty air? I might also consider a stainless steel model as well. As far as the caliber goes, I am a big fan of the 30-06, nothing in North America you can't put down with a decent placed shot at 400 yar
  2. No mets is great news. Other thing to remember about the chemo is sometimes it makes you forget things while you are on it. Has something to do with the connections that the brain neurons would make during that time but don't because of the way the chemo works. Short-term stuff may be a bit screwy for a while.
  3. I agree with the pistol assessment. Just a bit more maneuverable and concealable.
  4. I have seen firsthand what birdshot can do. Those little bbs can really tear up a body, shred major arteries and vessels, and generally cause a lot of damage.
  5. My hat is off to anyone who is creative and industrious enough to try and produce something for the weapon that this forum is dedicated to.
  6. I guess I might have contacted Tromix first before I posted anything, but that's just my 2 cents.
  7. I have a Docter and I quite like it. Quick acquisition and simple.
  8. For pure entertainment value of troll-type, racist-rant, hater-of-all-others posting, McUzi set the bar.
  9. I have heard good things about Millet. I have a Bushnell red dot that goes either red or green, however, as mentioned before, batteries can fail, especially if you accidentally left the friggen thing on like I did. Leupold makes the Prismatic which has a reticle etched on the glass and also provides a red dot. The problem with the Leupold is the price. I haven't seen one less than around $400.00.
  10. I hear this all the time. The regular flu has killed more people than the swine flu. Take too much vitamin D and it is toxic. It is one of the fat-soluble vitamins and your body will store it instead of pissing it out. As for vaccinations causing autism, multiple independent scientific studies show no correlation between vaccine and autism despite Jenny Mcarthy's fanatical ravings. As for doctors not recommending getting the vaccine, 99% of the ones I work with get the flu vaccine every year. If it is a conspiracy, I suppose I am a willing participant.
  11. I work in an ER, the crappiest part of my day can literally become that.
  12. My dad suggested I look at one. The gunny that trained him in escape and evasion training before he went to Vietnam was firmly convinced that the AK platform was simply the best out there. Also at the time they were about 300 bucks, I thought that was pretty cheap for a semi-auto shotgun that was dead-nuts reliable.
  13. This thread needs to be in fight club.
  14. In Alaska, you don't even have to have a CCW permit. As long as you are legally allowed to own the pistol, you can carry it.
  15. Depends if it is a longer range situation the AR, under 200 and in a non-nato country with little chance of getting more 5.56 then the AK.
  16. Cat's out of the bag already. People could be spreading the virus several days before they start showing any signs of infection. Tamiflu has been shown to be effective against it. Besides that, the regular flu this year has already killed thousands of people. Good hygiene and staying away from crowded areas are your best defense, two weeks of isolation from the world probably won't be enough.
  17. It's not really a tax plan but a rebate on money invested long ago. You actually end up getting taxed on it. As for Saiga rarity there, didn't use to be. My dad bought his there years ago for two hundred. He was the one who turned me on to them. Besides, Alaska has one of the best concealed carry laws, if you can own it, you can carry it concealed.
